[su_right_ad]Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas made his uninformed comments to the Family Research Council.

When Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, the host of the program, asked Smith why the president of Egypt and the king of Jordan are “responding in a more direct and authoritative way to these attacks of ISIS than our own president,” Smith responded, “That is true. Other countries seem to be doing more or taking it more seriously.”

“He was going to ‘degrade and destroy,’” Smith added. “Well, I don’t see any evidence of degrading and I don’t see certainly any evidence of destroying ISIS. Other countries are moving better than we are. And we certainly ought to get other countries engaged without any doubt, but we cannot just sit around and do nothing, all it does is embolden our enemies.”

In reality, the U.S. has conducted the vast majority of airstrikes against ISIS carried out by the U.S.-led coalition combatting the group.

Smith warned that “it would not surprise me if you didn’t see more American citizens subject to some of these killings when they see America doing nothing to try to stop them.”

so WTH is stopping any of these ‘Khristian patriots’ from volunteering?
It’s OK to join up with the opposition – with your little booties touching the ground – IF- you really believe it’s a cause worth fighting for?

It matters not that it’s not correct , their base eat it up, you should read the comments on rwnj sites in support of the 13 yo who agrees w/Rudy G

counting all the red states (’cause the USA don’t exist when we have an ‘Islander’ as POTUS in the ‘mainland’) – and some countries that would be using airstrikes but can’t cause the don’t exist anymore.
The numbers have to be correct, cause Sara and Michelle was up half the night counting. Between them both and with Congressional funding, I’m sure they would be able to go all the way up to 2! – which is purty close to 60 anyway.

I would ask Lamar to explain this picture.

Image: Al Qaeda’s Abdelhakim Belhadj poses with US Senator John McCain. McCain’s lobbying would play a part in securing Al Qaeda and its affiliates with sufficient arms to overthrow the secular government of Muammar Qaddafi in Libya. Soon after, these terrorists and their weapons would find
their way to Syria via NATO-member Turkey.

Smith responded, “That is true. Other countries ‘SEEM’ to be doing more or taking it more seriously.” — Key word here is ‘seems’. When you live in a delusional bubble of hyper-partisanship, everything that ‘seems’ wrong, ‘seems’ to be the fault of somebody in the other party. RWNJ’s never ‘seem’ to get it, good thing the rest of do.

    • granpa.usthai February 23rd, 2015 at 7:25 pm

sometimes ‘seeming’ is more important as actual being.

      Sara said so!

Seems to me that those who clamor loudest for war are those who have never served in the military.

Why wouldn’t Jordan and Egypt ramp up operations against ISIS, especially when ISIS is kicking in their front doors? Smith, McCain, and other GOP/TPers pretend as if they are powerless to take any action against ISIS when the opposite is true. They have more power than the president because they have the power of the purse which is needed to fund any operation. None of the rw members of Congress have written a resolution or bill calling for an increase in U.S. operations against ISIS, and the reason they haven’t is because they don’t want to go on the record and vote for what they’ve been calling for. When the president asked them to act on Syria after they’d been running off at the mouth, none of them wanted to do anything. The president requested permission from Congress last week to increase military operations against ISIS, and so far, all we’ve heard is either silence or complaints that his request doesn’t go “far enough.” Even when this president gives them what they say they want, they find a reason to reject it.

    Edited for grammar.

Saddam had an army of 2 million battle hardened men. They were way more powerful than IS (don’t say ISIS or they will cut your tongue out).

It took a month for US military to neutralize Saddam’s army.

Is IS (ISIS?) doing the work for Israel by killing Arabs?

And what is up with McCain?

Image: US Senator John McCain with members of the so-called “Free Syrian
Army.” Several of the men pictured with McCain would end up committing
      horrific sectarian atrocities.

Is this what sitting around looks like, Repuke Congressman Idiot?

    http://www.ibtimes.com/us-air-force-drops-record-amount-bombs-against-islamic-state-iraq-syria-1777616

***** The United States Air Force has increased the level of its attacks on
the Islamic State group in recent weeks, dropping more munitions than
ever before. The increase, mentioned in an article on the service’s website,
means that more than 60 percent of all airstrikes carried out by
coalition forces are now the work of the U.S. Air Force. The remaining
40 percent of bombs are dropped on ISIS by the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine
    Corps and coalition partners.*****

    And this:

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/07/us-mideast-crisis-strikes-damage-idUSKBN0KG1ZM20150107
    ***** (Reuters) – U.S.-led
air strikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria have
damaged or destroyed 3,222 targets since August, including 58 tanks, 184
Humvees, 673 fighting positions and 980 buildings or barracks, the
    Pentagon said on Wednesday. *****

    You can blame President Obama for this, P L E A S E!

  13. Flyercrazy May 22nd, 2015 at 4:37 pm

Listen Jyzzball.. with the take over of two key Iraq cities in the past week it is evident the USAAF has had little to no effect in ISIS….as you know we have only made 144 sorties in the past month compared to thousands elsewhere in the middle east. This is the most ineffective president with regard to war, and purposely so for obvious reasons. You can throw stats regarding effectiveness of air strikes all over the place but the results have been negligible for stopping ISIS. He is either ineffective by design or lack of experience, well that is not true, it is both but the latter is the excuse he would have us believe.
For success both domestic and abroad we need this president on a 1 year 9 month vacation.

That was simply a brilliant traciemarie…what gives me the right..what a moron…how is Scientology working out for you? I suppose you went through EST as well and maybe a bit of Transcendental Meditation..you and the rest of your “que sara sara” existential progressives believe their are no abolutes rights or wrongs so how can you judge me on anything I say? The fact is you can’t because you have no absolute basis of authority to judge anything, you will just go with the flow until the next wave of thought replaces the existing one you are following, so damn pathetic.
