It’s only one survey, and let’s hope it’s wrong.

…a newHuffPost/YouGov poll posed that same question to Americans of different ages, genders and political parties. The results show that Giuliani is far from alone in his beliefs.

Overall, 47% of respondents said they believe the president loves his country while 35% said he does not. But the split between Democrats and Republicans on the issue is what was truly striking. While 85% of Democrats believe Obama loves America and just 6% say he does not, a whopping 69% of Republicans came down on Giuliani’s side while just 11% said the opposite.

43 responses to 69% Of Republicans Side With Rudy: Obama Doesn’t Love America

when one has been reduced to doing reverse mortgage commercials…
you can smell the desperation to stay relevant.

    • Larry Schmitt February 25th, 2015 at 3:01 pm

Hey, if it’s good enough for Fred Thompson…

  2. Mark February 25th, 2015 at 2:42 pm

Can you imagine the outrage from Republicans if someone had said that GWB did not love America. No other president in history has ever had their patriotism questioned. No other president has had a birth certificate demanded of him. It is appalling.

    • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 2:55 pm

it is appalling and its called “butt hurt.”

    • Larry Schmitt February 25th, 2015 at 3:02 pm

I bet Andrew Johnson had his patriotism questioned.

    • William February 25th, 2015 at 3:06 pm

      Never in our history.
When all is said and done, history will surely record that certain factions overwhelmingly hated the President more than they loved their country.

      • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 3:16 pm

i swear i want to cry.

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:57 am

They came close with JFK–Irish, Catholic–might as well have been a devil worshiper. He had to go cap in hand to the christian zealots of the day who did not consider catholics to be christian and who seriously thought that the pope would take over if Kennedy was elected. And of course mormonism wasn’t considered a real religion at all and no jews need apply. Today’s SCOTUS has about 4 or 5 sitting justices who are catholic and we just had a mormon run for President.

So Rudy i am making a SWAG here, but you are trying for a VP spot on any body’s ticket.
    Maybe a cabinet job?

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:52 am

Oh gag. I’ll bet you’re right.

  4. Larry Schmitt February 25th, 2015 at 3:02 pm

I guess that makes 67% of republicans wrong then, right?

    • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 3:15 pm

nicely said. they are as usual.

    • FatRat February 25th, 2015 at 3:31 pm

I don’t think 69% of Conservatives even believe that Obama is an American citizen.

      • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 3:42 pm

62 percent of Americans think Obama was born here, while 24 percent think he was not and 14 percent are unsure.

10 percent of the country thinks that he was born in Indonesia, 7 percent think he was born in Kenya, and 1 percent think he was born in the Philippines.

That leaves 20 percent, which includes at least some people who correctly believe that Obama was born in Hawaii, but who don’t consider Hawaii to be part of the United States. You read that right — 6 percent of poll respondents think that Hawaii is not part of the country and 4 percent are unsure.
        “birthers” polls and public ignorance.

        • FatRat February 25th, 2015 at 3:56 pm

[ You read that right — 6 percent of poll respondents think that Hawaii is not part of the country and 4 percent are unsure.]

Holy mackerel! I knew the numbers weren’t good, but a 10% failure rate about being certain that Hawaii is a state. I think the Tiki statue from the Brady Bunch episode is spinning in its grave.

They have the same problem with Alaska.

  5. rational_thinking_one February 25th, 2015 at 3:06 pm

The GOP is getting their crazy all tuned up for the 2016 primaries. I’ve been looking forward to that upcoming freak show since the end of 2012. Some people get excited with the Olympics ever 4 years, I’m a much bigger fan of the Republican Presidential Primaries.

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:50 am

I’m going to have to learn how to use the split screen feature for this next one–looks like a crowded house. Or big tent. Or clown car. It always amazes me.

  6. whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 3:13 pm

the president has been attacked since the moment he ran, with nothing but total disrespect, hatred, racism and distain, and yet, no matter what they did he still got the job done and continues to do so today. he has accomplished more than anyone could ever have imagined even with “try as you will try as you might” to make him fail by the repubs. the one thing that has always been noticed in the last 6 years, is that they have nothing political really to attack him on, so they now come up with this. he was elected twice despite the rhetoric and bashing. and they don’t seem to realize, it’s they that are the minority. pathetic.

    • rational_thinking_one February 25th, 2015 at 3:19 pm

I live in the DEEP South and I can tell you: it’s 100% racism. There are way too many folks that were life long white Dems down here that all of a sudden HATE the Democrat President. They are all now “independent.” These people loved Clinton and worshiped FDR’s name, and yet they have coincidentally had a change of heart at the election of the first black President. It’s race. Shame on them and their phony “Christianity”

      • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 3:35 pm

racist people live the most miserable lives. i can’t imagine feeling hate throughout what days i have on this earth, and to go through it never happy about sh’t.

        • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:49 am

It’s a weird disorder–they can’t be happy unless somebody else is miserable. Silly me–I think that when we all do well, we ALL do well.

          • whatthe46 February 26th, 2015 at 8:37 pm

            silly you.

          • bluejayray February 27th, 2015 at 4:42 pm

I’ve been watching them for awhile now…mostly in self defense.

      • nola878 February 25th, 2015 at 4:52 pm

One thing I REALLY hate is when people assume that just because I’m white, I automatically hate the president. The looks on their faces when I answer their rants don’t come close to making up for their ignorance, but it does bring a moment of happiness.

        • Suzanne McFly February 25th, 2015 at 4:56 pm

I was sickened when I was living down south and white people would talk to me as if I support them automatically just because I am white. Some (few, but a very vocal few) would be shocked that I did not categorize people into groups of color. I hated that one facet about southern life, I could not figure out why they just assumed anyone white would support their ignorance when a majority of us do not.

        • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:47 am

I’m with you there. I worked in a store full of Fox true believers. They went bat shit when Obama was elected. I became a pariah when I wouldn’t chime in. One guy called me liberal scum. Really nice environment to work in.
          (Thanks Obama!)
Seriously, Thanks, Obama–for your (and your family’s!) grace under fire, and thanks for getting a lot of shit done IN SPITE OF the GOPTP.

      • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:44 am

What’s funny is that Obama is half white and has ancestors who fought on our side in the Revolutionary War. (That must be where he got his “anti-colonial” attitude…)
I think that all racists should go get a DNA test and get over themselves. Of course, all their racist buddies will turn on them–like they did to that guy Cobb who was trying to establish a white racist only town. He found out that he was 14% black.

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:40 am

I think that Obama is the best President in my lifetime, and Truman was in office when I was born. For worst–I go back and forth between Reagan and GW Bush–but a friend pointed out that Reagan made Bush possible–so dingdingding! Reagan wins!

      • whatthe46 February 26th, 2015 at 8:38 pm

you are absolutely correct. and the dingdingding.. LOL

  7. arc99 February 25th, 2015 at 3:23 pm

I know that she is not the first choice of the progressive base of our Democratic party.

But I fervently hope that Hilary Clinton is the nominee in 2016 so we can maximize our chances to figuratively politically bomb these idiots back into the electoral stone age, giving them a landslide defeat of Goldwater proportions.

  8. nola878 February 25th, 2015 at 4:55 pm

Doesn’t surprise me. In a poll 2 years ago, 29% of Republicans blamed Obama for the response to Katrina.

    • whatthe46 February 25th, 2015 at 10:14 pm

i tripped when i read one poster thinks that bush may have been responsible, but its Obama’s fault that they are still rebuilding. just when you think.

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:37 am

A high percentage of them think that Sarah Palin is a genius. Nuff said…

  9. Suzanne McFly February 25th, 2015 at 4:58 pm

Considering the republican party shrinks every day, 69% isn’t really that surprising. What is the actual count for 69%? Like 20?

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:36 am

Thanks for finding the silver lining.

  10. tiredoftea February 25th, 2015 at 6:35 pm

It sure doesn’t say much about huffpo to keep this nonsense going! What does the question even mean?

    • rg9rts February 26th, 2015 at 4:24 am

YouGov is so far right…. another reason I dumped HP

    • bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:34 am

I got sick of the side boobs and penis stories–it’s like they have a whole section full of them. I left when they went to In Your Face book for comments.

  11. Ronald L February 25th, 2015 at 10:28 pm

…and then these Republicans act hurt and confused when you call them our for racism.

  12. rg9rts February 26th, 2015 at 4:24 am

HP/You Gov…. has a conazi slant that makes Hitler look like a communist

  13. bluejayray February 26th, 2015 at 11:36 am

I don’t think that people like republicans who hate America and everything she stands for have any standing to decide who does or not love America.
