[su_center_ad]Note: This is an old story, but interesting nonetheless.

You can’t run for office in Laurens County, South Carolina as a Republican if you’ve had premarital sex or ever plan to watch porn again.

Last Tuesday, the LCGOP unanimously adopted a resolution that would ask all candidates who want to get on the primary ballot to sign a pledge with 28 principles, because the party “does not want to associate with candidates who do not act and speak in a manner that is consistent with the SC Republican Party Platform.”

Among your promises:

  • You must favor, and live up to, abstinence before marriage.
  • You must be faithful to your spouse. Your spouse cannot be a person of the same gender, and you are not allowed to favor any government action that would allow for civil unions of people of the same sex.
  • You cannot now, from the moment you sign this pledge, look at pornography.

Why didn’t they require that they be virgins while they’re at it? What a bunch of puritanical phonies. How many of them have engaged in the very same things?

Thats rich coming from the GOP (Greedy Old Philanders) like Newtie Gingross, Mike Enzi, and ‘Diaper-Me’ David Vitter who preach family values while exhibiting none whatsoever themselves… true RWNJ projection.

GOP wants a Virgin Mary or Virgin Mark model candidates? An impure party wanting pure candidates? Is this also like a stupid party wanting intelligent candidates? Perfect oxymoron partnering!

It will be an insignificantly small slice of the local population who can honestly live up to each and every one of those standards. There will either be hypocritical liars, or the Republican Party (in that county) will nearly cease to exist.

    And NEVER tell a lie

    • Suzanne McFly March 1st, 2015 at 9:18 am

Now that is just going a bit too far, especially for a politician.

How will I know it’s pornography if I don’t look at it?

Who really plans to watch porn?
It just happens while surfing, right? *whistles innocently*

So, now for this premarital sex issue, yeah I can’t see a way around that hurdle.

Have it your way gop, good luck in your recruitment of the 0000000.1% of the population.

    Now, where’s my remote

  10. Suzanne McFly March 1st, 2015 at 9:16 am

Who the hell will be able to fill those requirements? Maybe a 12 year old, but even many of them have seen porn.

Conspicuous by their absence are these guides to moral living for their political candidates.

    – I will never leave my gun in a place where a child might get to it.

    – I will treat all people with dignity and respect, regardless of who or what they pray to, or who they choose to marry.

    – I will oppose any policy which disenfranchises even a single legitimate voting citizen

    – I will work to make sure that every American has the same options for health insurance as I do.

    – If any government department under the jurisdiction of the legislative body in which I serve, is shut down due to partisan policy didsagreements, I will forego all salary and benefits (non refundable) until that government department reopens.

This is in SC? I wonder if Nikki Haley would be able to sign that in good conscience? Lots of juicy rumors about her past…

  13. viva_democracy March 1st, 2015 at 9:40 pm

Yes, because just like marriage vows, Republicans never break pledges. (Snark)

This will certainly cut into the future Box Office profits of American Sniper because that is certainly a pornographic TeaParty Ammosexual Snuff Film.
