I’m sure the Republican Party will have something to say about this mega-merger. This will create an organization with an effective monopoly on women hatred, gay hatred and the adoration of guns, religion and violence. Surely there are anti-trust issues – will this create more or fewer places for bigots to go? I say fewer places – and even though there will be one or two remaining platforms for hate, the essential message and branding will be so similar as to effectively leave no choice.
We have already seen the mom and pop bigots of the KKK, the Christian Identity Movement, the Survivalist Tinfoil hat-wearers and the Tea Party consumed under the larger Republican umbrella, if ISIS/Boko Haram merge with the Republican Party – as seems the next logical step, there will be only one place in the market for fascist shitheads to go. Whatever happened to good old fashioned competition?
