[su_right_ad]The Arizona House passed a bill that would have the state ignore any Obama executive order.

“Oh, just secede already, Arizona legislature,” Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts wrote in her Wednesday column about HB2368, a bill that would prohibit the state from enforcing or cooperating with Obama’s executive orders unless they were affirmed by the Republican-controlled U.S. Congress.

“Our leaders are marching ever closer to declaring our independence from the United States of America,” Roberts noted. “Or at least, from its government.”

“The bill, sponsored by none other than Rep. Bob Thorpe, R-Flagstaff, is one of a series of kooky measures aimed at declaring our independence from federal gun laws, from the Affordable Care Act, from the Environmental Protection Agency, from the Department of Justice, from Barack Obama and from just about anything else associated with the state’s most detested f-word… Federal, that is.”

Article 1, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution states: “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” It does not state the President can legislate through executive action – he cannot, therefore his amnesty is already null and void.

    • Dwendt44 March 11th, 2015 at 12:01 pm

It isn’t amnesty to begin with. It’s called delayed action. The executive branch has the power to enforce laws at it sees fit. The Obama administration is concentrating on felons and adults, not the youths. You’ll recall Bush and his nefarious signing statements where he says he won’t enforce the laws he doesn’t like.

      • Oboehner March 11th, 2015 at 12:24 pm

        Obama’s executive action is non-law – period.
Bush didn’t write the Constitution either and has no relevance to this story.

        • mea_mark March 11th, 2015 at 12:26 pm

It’s discretionary enforcement. It’s legal whether or not you like it or choose to believe it.

          • Oboehner March 11th, 2015 at 12:29 pm

What section of the Constitution allows for “discretionary enforcement”?
Obama’s executive action is non-law – period. It is legislating.

          • mea_mark March 11th, 2015 at 12:39 pm

            Article 2, section 3, clause 5 … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_Two_of_the_United_States_Constitution

          • Oboehner March 11th, 2015 at 12:57 pm

          • mea_mark March 11th, 2015 at 1:02 pm

            Not surprised.

          • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 1:18 am

            Probably because it’s not there.

          • Chinese Democracy March 11th, 2015 at 11:36 pm

because you don’t want to. That’s how Fox righties work. They only see what they want.

          • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 1:38 am

Because it isn’t there, that’s how lefties work, they claim visions that just don’t exist.

          • Chinese Democracy March 12th, 2015 at 2:39 pm

typical .. if its not a bill o lie … Fox righties just can’t accept it

          • Carla Akins March 11th, 2015 at 12:57 pm

Uh, the Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order, are you questioning its legality?

Executive Orders (EOs) are legally binding orders given by the President, acting as the head of the Executive Branch, to Federal Administrative Agencies. Executive Orders are generally used to direct federal agencies and officials in their execution of congressionally established laws or policies.

            Where’s that non-law part?

          • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 1:17 am

The non-law part is that ONLY congress can legislate (make laws) Period. Article1 section1. Amnesty is not a congressionally established law.

          • Carla Akins March 12th, 2015 at 8:33 am

It’s a good thing that Obama’s plan doesn’t include amnesty, just a quicker path to citizenship.

          • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 10:46 am

For people who broke the law and live here illegally – with no consequences it is most certainly amnesty. the current legal path to citizenship is good enough.

          • Carla Akins March 12th, 2015 at 10:51 am

I get that you think so, but many others disagree with you. Decades should not pass while you wait for some government administrator to stamp a piece of paper. Placing such rigorous demands and time on citizenship is the same as denying it altogether.

          • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 11:28 am

If that were the case, nobody would be here in America, the system worked for a couple of hundred years. We should be following our existing laws with a kicker: everyone who came here illegally should be banned for life from citizenship.

    • 4sanity4all March 11th, 2015 at 8:00 pm

So, you are quoting one part of the Constitution, and ignoring the rest of it, as well as our entire body of law. Oh, that makes sense.

      • Oboehner March 12th, 2015 at 1:37 am

The post the part I’m ignoring.

  3. oldfart March 11th, 2015 at 12:05 pm

this the same state that also refuses to acknowledge
rev.king day and daylight savings time… well, no surprises here then.

    • Larry Schmitt March 11th, 2015 at 12:29 pm

You should say “refused.” They did acknowledge it, after being threatened with various economic consequences. And as for DST, that should be eliminated everywhere, in my opinion. It accomplishes nothing.

      • oldfart March 11th, 2015 at 12:43 pm

thanks for that. i hadn’t read that it was actually (and officially )enacted, just begrudgingly acknowledged.

  4. mea_mark March 11th, 2015 at 12:19 pm

I wonder if the people of Arizona realize that passing unconstitutional laws does nothing but uselessly spends their own money. Pure idiocy, that’s all it is.

    • tiredoftea March 11th, 2015 at 3:02 pm

Well, pouting and stomping their feet to get their way is not its own reward, but unconstitutional pandering is,

    • Jack E Raynbeau March 11th, 2015 at 9:24 pm

In Utah we call them “message bills”. They keep the connected lawyers in easy money.

  5. Larry Schmitt March 11th, 2015 at 12:26 pm

“Oh, just secede already, Arizona legislature,” As a former resident of Arizona who plans to retire there, I agree that the legislature should definitely secede, but leave the state in the Union. Just get the hell out already.

    • mea_mark March 11th, 2015 at 12:29 pm

If the state secedes, I wonder if the federal government can say you’re gone but the land under you still belongs to the US and that now makes everybody in Arizona an illegal foreign national. Now get out.

      • Larry Schmitt March 11th, 2015 at 12:32 pm

I just meant the actual members of the legislature. The state couldn’t do any worse with no senate and house than they are with them.

      • Guy Lauten March 11th, 2015 at 12:38 pm

Oh maybe they can stay, if they go to the end of the immigration line, and show their papers, and work for slave wages for 20 years, and …

        • Larry Schmitt March 11th, 2015 at 1:51 pm

What’s good for the goose, etc.

  6. Gina March 11th, 2015 at 12:58 pm

Wonderful! A state legislating against the Constitution!

  7. Guest March 11th, 2015 at 7:18 pm

    Hang them for treason.

  8. ironman2819 March 11th, 2015 at 7:41 pm

First they need to give back all the federal dollars they have received from the last physical year… They can have their freedom when they pay back their debt to the nation. Article 6 also works in reverse… as in you still owe us even after we kick you out!

And just wait until you see all those new toll roads to get out of your state…. but I hope you have cash…. Exact Change Lanes Only.

  13. Geff Thompson March 12th, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Screw that If Arizona succeeds in seceding then southern Arizona secede from them. (Even though that whole proposition is stupid as hell.)

          • Oboehner March 14th, 2015 at 3:22 pm

You must be ashamed since you’re trying to project your perversion on everyone else, like I said, poop chutes don’t do it for me.

No, look up the definition of “projecting”.

            proj·ect

extend outward beyond something else; protrude.

there you go with the weird sexual innuendo again

  15. Bailey Nix April 9th, 2015 at 1:11 am

Actually a split might be best for everyone. Either allow states to choose their laws , there is no compromise anymore. .left vs right..somebody loses their rights and it becomes tyrannical government. .speak freely but only if it agrees with us..Hate groups on both sides.religous liberty is under attack.gay rights are under attack.there is no denial anymore that both are happening. Meanwhile our government clowns drive us into oblivion with ever increasing debt.
let the states that wish to split do it, or allow them to pass laws that reflects their prevailing ideals..don’t like where you are? Move.
Suppression of anyone’s rights should not be tolerated, yet both sides seek repression on the other.
So in the name of peace allow a split and go wherever the laws you like are located, because the level of intolerance on both sides only has 1 conclusion and it is not pretty.

THIS is how the civil war started…………bad enough there were 47 actual sitting US Senators signing a petition going AGAINST the president, now there is actual means of a back-water tumble-weed state (Arizona) constructing a heresy order to defy ANY action by the president?! History IS due to repeat itself and THIS civil war, in the making, will be the total undoing of the southern confederates, once again.
