If you’re going to work in Washington DC, there are some lines you might not want to cross. Calling a sitting President a “bitch” would be a pretty pronounced and easy-to-see line. Now, I don’t believe the other names listed have the same offensive connotation as “bitch”. There are those who believe the President to be Maoist, Marxist, Communist, Socialist and a whole slew of other semi-fascist things. Whether he’s any of those things, or not, at least people can cite examples of speech or behavior to support their claims, however misguided they may be. “Bitch”, however, is nothing more than a degradation to one’s manliness and calls his assertive character (testicular fortitude, if you would allow me a brief moment of crude vernacular) into question. If you’re going to work in government, you have to be prepared to filter out the petty insults and degradations from your speech, if you want people to take you seriously.
If Ben Carson wants to remain relevant, he should condemn his staffer’s behavior and fire him. That would send a clear message that he’s out to run a clean campaign and won’t cheapen himself with personal attacks.

I agree with your take on the Carson matter. But as for the other terms, Maoist, Marxist, Communist etc. America stopped discussing those terms honestly a long time ago.
When Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska, she was a strong advocate of increasing a specific tax on oil companies in the state. The tax increase was passed and it was used to raise the amount of the annual oil royalty check sent to every man woman and child in Alaska, regardless of need. That’s right. In a household consisting of mom, dad, a 10 year old and a 2 year old, 4 checks would be mailed to that house every year.
Ever notice how no one calls Sarah Palin a socialist. The word has become meaningless as some have adopted the term as a catch-all for any government program they dislike. But when a darling of the American right presides over a case of textbook socialism, the word is nowhere to be found.
