If you’re upset about something and you have a gun handy, always best to use it. That way, the person you’re upset with will, maybe, get the message.

A Louisiana family’s argument about orange juice ended in bloodshed and an arrest for attempted manslaughter Sunday morning after a father allegedly shot his teenage son in the ass with a .357 revolver.

Sometime Sunday morning, Eldridge Dukes allegedly confronted his 18-year-old son about the lack of orange juice in their Baton Rouge home. The Advocate reports that the fight escalated—a vase was reportedly broken—and eventually spilled into the street, where Dukes allegedly chased after his son and shot at him three times. The son was struck once in the butt.[su_center_ad]

First they came for the orange juice, and I didn’t open fire because I don’t drink orange juice; then they came for the pineapple juice, and I didn’t open fire because I don’t drink pineapple juice; then they came for the mango juice, and I didn’t open fire because I don’t drink mango juice; then they came for the grapefruit juice, which I drink, but there was none left because there was no one to open fire for me. Wolverines!

I’m sure he was reassuring his son that “shooting him hurt Dad more than it did the boy,” not to mention that “shooting him was for his own good”. Or, there’s always the old “you’re crying? I’ll give you something to cry about!” Aren’t those the usual excuses for abusive parents.

Anita Bryant would approve! “A day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine!”
