[su_right_ad]John Bolton goes all out for war in Thursday’s New York Times.

The inescapable conclusion is that Iran will not negotiate away its nuclear program. Nor will sanctions block its building a broad and deep weapons infrastructure. The inconvenient truth is that only military action like Israel’s 1981 attack on Saddam Hussein’s Osirak reactor in Iraq or its 2007 destruction of a Syrian reactor, designed and built by North Korea, can accomplish what is required. Time is terribly short, but a strike can still succeed.

Rendering inoperable the Natanz and Fordow uranium-enrichment installations and the Arak heavy-water production facility and reactor would be priorities. So, too, would be the little-noticed but critical uranium-conversion facility at Isfahan. An attack need not destroy all of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, but by breaking key links in the nuclear-fuel cycle, it could set back its program by three to five years. The United States could do a thorough job of destruction, but Israel alone can do what’s necessary. Such action should be combined with vigorous American support for Iran’s opposition, aimed at regime change in Tehran.[su_center_ad]

War is the only thing this guy knows

  3. Bunya March 26th, 2015 at 1:44 pm

So, fearless war hero, John “I had no desire to die in a rice patty in Viet Nam” Bolton, thinks we should bomb Iran. I have a better idea. Let’s not bomb Iran and bomb John Bolton instead.

    • Roctuna March 26th, 2015 at 2:09 pm

Personally, I favor dropping John Bolton on Iran.

      • Bunya March 26th, 2015 at 3:12 pm

Mayabe we can send Dick Cheney with him – and have the whole thing televised.

        • Dwendt44 March 26th, 2015 at 4:36 pm

Wouldn’t either of those actions violate UN policies of inhuman treatment or be considered a terrorist action?

          • Bunya March 26th, 2015 at 4:42 pm

LOL! You’re right. Iran has suffered enough.

          • Jack E Raynbeau March 26th, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Only if either survives the fall.

How can we not yet have repudiated all this PNAC warmongering BS by now?

  6. Suzanne McFly March 26th, 2015 at 2:10 pm

If anyone takes his point of view seriously, they need a lobotomy. There is no hope for them.

    • bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 12:13 pm

Sadly, Congress is full of them.

  7. Roctuna March 26th, 2015 at 2:12 pm

“Time is terribly short but a strike can still succeed” He’s been saying this since dubya put him in the UN. The acolytes of Darth Cheney just can’t get enough war and death and profits.

  8. oldfart March 26th, 2015 at 2:14 pm

with the entire middle east this close to complete chaos
bombing Iran would completely implode the region
Bolton has stock interests in both oil and military maybe?

  9. fahvel March 26th, 2015 at 2:16 pm

    Sy Colepath: Bomb John Bolton

  11. rational_thinking_one March 26th, 2015 at 3:36 pm

I often wonder what the sentiments of these guys would be if there was a mandatory service requirement for all 18 yos in America. It’s just too easy for politicians to send someone else’s children and grandchildren off to die…

    • Dwendt44 March 26th, 2015 at 4:32 pm

While I agree with your main point, I doubt that the war mongers in the Republican Party would even think twice about sending YOUR children into battle some where.
Theirs, of course, will be in school, get deferments, or conveniently be ‘out of the country’ on an extended world tour or some other hard to figure excuse.

  12. Maxx44 March 26th, 2015 at 4:10 pm

If we bomb EYE-ran like John “Chicken Little” Bolton desires, he should be forced to ride the first bomb dropped like Major “King” Kong in “Dr. Strangelove”.

  13. Larry Schmitt March 26th, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Whenever someone suggests we start a war with some country, I always check to see if they have any children. Since they are usually too old to personally fight in a war, I check their children’s ages, so we can send their kids, or grandkids. As long as they are willing to go or have their family go to war and risk getting killed or maimed, then I say, fine, let’s go to war. But if they have no skin in the game, forget it. There are almost no congressmen who have served in the military, so they have no idea what it’s like. Bolton has one daughter, about 30 years old. Let her enlist, and be willing to get involved in a war, and then we’ll talk.

  14. StoneyCurtisll March 26th, 2015 at 6:23 pm

If Israel’s 1981 attack on Saddam Hussein’s Osirak reactor in Iraq took care of Iraq’s nuclear weapons program..
Then why was Condi Rice and the neocons warning us about a “Mushroom cloud” if we didn’t invade Iraq in 2003?

    • tracey marie March 26th, 2015 at 7:39 pm

details and facts, you obviously knw how to think for yourself. You are not their target audience

    • granpa.usthai March 27th, 2015 at 2:44 am

I guess they figured the American people were too stupid not to realized it would have taken Iraq a helicopter the size of Connecticut just to be able to carry enough fuel to fly to the US – and it would have to have a ‘cloaking device’ to keep from being spotted in flight.

      BTW- they figured correctly.

  15. StoneyCurtisll March 26th, 2015 at 6:24 pm

Strap John Bolton to the first bomb dropped on Iran…
    Pause the bombing..
    And then see what happens..

    • Carolina Gonzalez March 26th, 2015 at 9:52 pm

      Great idea!!!

    • bpollen March 26th, 2015 at 11:34 pm

      like this?

      • bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 12:09 pm

        “YEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWW!”…

      • StoneyCurtisll March 27th, 2015 at 6:31 pm

        Just like that~!!!

    • granpa.usthai March 27th, 2015 at 2:36 am

I’d rather render Bolton to DPRK.
it would be a lot less expensive for US Taxpayers

and he would fit right in.

      • StoneyCurtisll March 27th, 2015 at 6:30 pm

        Right On~!

  16. Pokthecat March 26th, 2015 at 8:22 pm

Only someone lacking brain matter would think that a war with Iran was a good idea.

  17. Carolina Gonzalez March 26th, 2015 at 10:01 pm

Please, free the squirrel first and let talk nuke later
    Bolton

  18. ExPFCWintergreen March 27th, 2015 at 12:35 am

Twenty years of John Bolton op-eds

  19. frambley1 March 27th, 2015 at 1:46 am

I never would have guessed this war monger would support bombing Iran. And he’s obviously some who should be listened to, seeing as how he’s been right about everything else.
(just to avoid confusion, the above is sarcasm)

    • bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 12:08 pm

Well he was right about the WMDs by golly…and he was a wonderful ambassador to the United Nations…

  20. rg9rts March 27th, 2015 at 2:43 am

    Who woke this cretin up??

  21. anothertoothpick March 27th, 2015 at 8:12 am

We have been chasing rag tags around the Afghan desert now for about 13 years. At a cost of over a trillion dollars. With no visible success.

I am wondering what good it does us to have this so called Ally in the mid east?

    • bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 12:06 pm

True that–Israel has had nuclear warheads for a long long time. I don’t blame her neighbors at all for wanting nukes of their own. I keep hearing people say that Israel shows “restraint”. Really? I just don’t see it. Not only do they already HAVE nuclear weapons, they also deny it and refuse to sign the Nuclear Proliferation treaty which would allow inspections. Iran HAS signed it, and their program is closely monitored.

      • anothertoothpick March 27th, 2015 at 12:25 pm

With Allies like Israel we don’t need any enemies.

We have gone too far with this friendship. For the PM of Israel to insult the President of the United States (no matter who he is) is just over the top. Is Israel doing ANYTHING to help stop ISIS? or are the aidning them?

It is a good thing that Obama kept the assassination of Bin Laden a secret or there might have been 47 traitor Senators writing him a letter.

  22. Tim Coolio March 27th, 2015 at 9:24 am

All those wars the right dreams of getting
or spending America into! and would they
support a tax increase to fund those wars?
or would they do again like W did and cut
taxes so they can put the wars on the Chinese
credit card and force future generations to
    pay for them?
and I bet Mr. food brush wouldn’t have any
of his young relatives go fight in those wars!

  23. bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 12:02 pm

This is the guy that Jeb Bush will want as his Secretary of Offense. He’s recycling all of his daddy and brother’s old advisers.

  24. fancypants March 27th, 2015 at 11:01 pm

when can we get mr. Bolton a pilots license ?

  25. labman57 March 29th, 2015 at 12:44 pm

Whenever some saber-rattling war hawk publicly advocates dropping bombs on Iran, Johns McCain and Bolton feel a stirring in their nether regions.
