[su_right_ad]Funny, I thought preventing gay marriage was the result of a moral crisis. What happened to the Libertarian who used to be Rand Paul?

In a video posted yesterday by the Christian Broadcasting Network, Rand Pauladdressed “a group of pastors and religious leaders at a private prayer breakfast” in Washington D.C. on Thursday about the need for “revival” in America complete with “tent revivals” full of people demanding reform.

He suggested during the event that the debate about legalizing same-sex marriage is the result of a “moral crisis” in the country: “Don’t always look to Washington to solve anything. In fact, the moral crisis we have in our country, there is a role for us trying to figure out things like marriage, there’s also a moral crisis that allows people to think that there would be some sort of other marriage.”

“We need a revival in the country,” Paul said. “We need another Great Awakening with tent revivals of thousands of people saying, ‘reform or see what’s going to happen if we don’t reform.’”

Denying equal rights to ALL Americans is the real moral crisis, Rand.

  2. bluejayray March 27th, 2015 at 7:41 pm

Meanwhile, in the real world, most of the folks getting caught with their pants down doing the wide stance or getting it on with the farm animals are straight christian males. As Bill O’Reilly might say, “You just can’t explain that!”…

False morality is the real crisis… right wingers are very good at it.

  4. Larry Schmitt March 27th, 2015 at 8:25 pm

You’re wrong, asswipe. Gay marriage is the result of two people who love each other wanting to spend their lives together. Just like straight marriage.

The reason why some people are so opposed to gay marriage — and all of the rights and benefits that come with a marriage certificate — is because the thought of homosexuals expressing physical affection for one another totally repulses them, and the notion that such a relationship could be officially sanctioned through marriage pours salt into the wound of their prejudice.

It’s not prejudice-it’s a natural reaction and no laws can change that.

Although I personally might be prejudiced from being sexually molested as a kid by the local gay guy, so…

Hey PA guy – simple solution – stop attending Catholic Church – although those rapist priests are not necessarily gay – remember when a Catholic priest rapes a boy or girl it is a demonstration of their preferred form of violence rather than their sexual preference. Best bet is to stay as far away from priests as possible to be on the safe side.

        TAX the CHURCHES!

        • Pa Guy in NJ March 29th, 2015 at 11:36 pm

It wasn’t a priest-it was just the downstairs neighbor that my “tolerant” parents (at the time) insisted we should treat just like everyone else.

So he is now on the sex offender’s register? What was his name? Did he go to jail. This must be a matter of public record.

What you call a “Natural Reaction” is actually learned behavior…Thankfully the natural reaction to wretch or turn away at the sight of blood didn’t stop surgeons form helping millions.
You’re just a small minded bigot like those who once thought people of different races shouldn’t be allowed to marry.
I puke at the sight of a Catholic Church knowing they are responsible for the systemic rape of countless children…I’d like to call it a natural reaction but I realize it is something I had to learn.

Tent revivals? Really? What century does he think this is?

The “Great Awakening” we need is for people to use science and reason and compassion, not darkness, ignorance and superstition.

The “moral crisis” we have is that there is a major political party that works to undermine the middle class, crush the poor while enriching billionaires, start wars for profit, promote racism, sexism, and homophobia, use hate and division to manipulate their ignorant base.

it’s amazing that these idiots neglect to acknowledge that there are so many American citizens that are gay, from the wealthiest to the poorest that are gay and republican that VOTE! from governors that are signing discrimination bills against them, to governors wanting to stand in the way of equality by way of marriage, these republicans have dug their own graves. i hope they never see the inside of the oval office unless (choke) invited.

      • whatthe46 March 27th, 2015 at 9:46 pm

oh and i forgot, a lot of Amerians are atheist as well that are republicans. rand is out.

  7. fahvel March 28th, 2015 at 5:15 am

the only immorality that hits the global news is that of the comments made by the american right wing psych ward. Last night one of our more very left tv talk shows did a bit of cruz – how well the world sees these pathetic people should make all americans very uneasy.

  8. bpollen March 28th, 2015 at 7:21 am

Rand, my little pander bear, you are saying that Donald Trump can have three examples of GOOD marriages, Drew Peterson had two examples of the good marriages (except for that whole murdering them part…) and Mafia Wives are another shining example. And you think the “moral crisis” is gay people wanting to marry?

    • William March 28th, 2015 at 10:04 am

      Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

      • whatthe46 March 28th, 2015 at 5:00 pm

        i likes. i likes it a lot.

      • ModerndayAppleseed March 30th, 2015 at 12:31 pm

Didn’t Jesus not even judge a women who had many husbands? Can you imagine Jesus saying Religious Freedom Bitch?

        • William March 30th, 2015 at 2:21 pm

          No I cannot.

  9. labman57 March 28th, 2015 at 9:59 am

This can only mean one thing — Rand Paul has finally received his shipment of RNC-issued materials that are essential for any Republican considering a run for the Presidency:
    – his copies of “The Dummy’s Guide to Right Wing Ideology”, “The U.S., Theocracy, and Me”, and “The White Christian Male’s Survival Manual”
    – a case of Lipton tea bags
    – an Etch-a-Sketch and a ‘reset button’

  10. Budda March 29th, 2015 at 7:52 am

The real moral crisis is called “Conservatism”.

    • jasperjava March 29th, 2015 at 8:58 am

I agree. Conservatism is an immoral ideology based on the worst instincts of the human heart and the darkest corners of the human mind. Fear, ignorance, prejudice, hate, selfishness, greed, narrow-mindedness, heartlessness, bigotry.
