[su_right_ad]The behavior involved threatening his wife. Because we all know that cough syrup causes you to be nasty to the one you love.

Former South Carolina Republican Party chief Todd Kincannon was accused of threatening his wife but he blames the medicine he was taking for a respiratory condition, the Charleston City Paper reports.

Said Kincannon: “I’m the kind of guy who never goes to the doctor. I finally went and was prescribed something called Benzonatate for my cough. I’d never taken it before, and took it for the first time last night. Basically, I went completely crazy after taking it. I don’t even remember all of it.”

But was cough syrup responsible when Kincannon went on a Twitter rant against a man who lost his son because of guns? Or the time he celebrated he death of Michael Brown?[su_center_ad]

The Charleston City Paper reports:

…on Thursday at about 10:21 p.m., a sheriff’s deputy responded to Kincannon’s house in Columbia “regarding a possible domestic incident.” The deputy met with Kincannon, who said he and his wife had gotten in an argument about him “touching [his wife’s] leg at a work function.” The report notes that Kincannon “denied any physical altercation and had no signs of such.”

The officer then spoke with Kincannon’s wife, Ashely Suzanne Griffith, who said that they “have a history of unreported domestic violence.” She said she was “extremely fearful” of Kincannon and described him as being “extremely ‘traditional’ and controlling, thus becoming very upset due to embarrassing him,” according to the report.

Or the time he called Nancy Pelosi the C word. There are too many times to count and he blames liberals for his account being suspended when he tried to get mine suspended. I can’t stand that little toad.

    • StoneyCurtisll March 29th, 2015 at 10:40 am

      “I called Nancy the C-word”?..(cough)
      I bet he doesn’t remember that either…;)

    Hey Todd…
You aint supposed to drink the whole bottle..

    • Anomaly 100 March 29th, 2015 at 10:41 am

Hey, lots of drug addicts guzzle the bottle.

      • burqa March 29th, 2015 at 11:12 am

This guy’s gotta be mainlining it…

        • Anomaly 100 March 29th, 2015 at 11:14 am

          I think so.

It’s bad enough he’s such a jerk, but what concerns me more than anything is his wife. Of course things can get twisted in the press and no one knows what goes on behind closed doors, but it looks as if she needs to get the hell out of there, yesterday.
The selfish part of me would like to see her push his buttons in public so he explodes on camera; only to hear her say while he was out she had movers show up and empty the house and she’s got a new man who’s an MMA champ.
Then she turns to the cameras and holds up her little finger, stiffly and says, “What he’s got is like this, maybe a little shorter.”

          • Anomaly 100 March 29th, 2015 at 11:48 am

I agree. And it’s pretty easy to push his buttons.

          • burqa March 29th, 2015 at 12:10 pm

yeah, I need it to happen somewhere that there’s lots of colorful gooshy stuff to throw and get slobbed all over onlookers, furniture and camera equipment.
Maybe a fancy restaurant that has a 6 foot tall pyramid of champagne glasses delicately stacked, just for that moment.
I hope I’m not being too awful about this, but sometimes my imagination goes off in unusual directions, y’know?

    Side effects of Benzonatate include…
Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, stomach upset, constipation, and stuffy nose may occur.
And of course (being abusive to your wife)..

    • allison1050 March 29th, 2015 at 10:48 am

      Of course.

  4. StoneyCurtisll March 29th, 2015 at 10:52 am

The report notes that Kincannon “denied any physical altercation and had no signs of such.”

    Lets be real here..
Verbal and psychological abuse can be just as damaging and long lasting as physical abuse yet the signs are not as obvious.

    • burqa March 29th, 2015 at 11:06 am

Yeah, but that was in reference to the time he supposedly “touched” her leg at a “work function.” He mighta been, y’know, trying to pull a little Jack Horner and therefore it wouldn’t have left a mark

      • StoneyCurtisll March 29th, 2015 at 11:23 am

        Thats his story…
And I’m sure he is stickin to it.

To the dumb broad that’s married to little Todd, grow a back bone and decide if you want your daughters to marry someone like that thing you stay married to and your sons to be just like it.

    • Hirightnow March 29th, 2015 at 11:55 am

      Don’t call chicks “broads”…

    • burqa March 29th, 2015 at 12:32 pm

I’ve learned to tread softly when it comes to women who stay in an abusive marriage. In a very significant percentage of the cases, the woman was abused when young and has psychological issues going into the subconscious that prevent her from doing what she needs to do and get out, if not go on and shoot the sumbitch.
I’m no psychologist and know to be flexible in my thinking on the subject. Since it is so clear she should get out, but doesn’t, I think there is a good chance there’s some nasty psychological stuff going on and she needs some good help.
I don’t know, and this is not so much a conclusion as something I’m throwing out there.
I think a normal, well-adjusted woman would flee, so there’s something keeping her there. it could be something else going on, maybe something he’s got on her or a streak of masochism, I don’t know.
But I’m not going to call her, the victim, stupid because I’ve known some pretty badly damaged people who did odd things….

    • KatieAnnieOakley March 29th, 2015 at 2:27 pm

She is every. inch. his equal when it comes to bigotry and hate. TRUST – I’ve had a few twitter encounters with her. Payback is a bitch.

      • tracey marie March 29th, 2015 at 3:25 pm

that may be so, but physical abuse or thr threat is NEVER acceptable

  7. burqa March 29th, 2015 at 11:12 am

So it looks as if this cough syrup addiction has been going on for 2 years or more.
The above group of tweets would make a fine campaign ad for a challenger.

  8. burqa March 29th, 2015 at 11:20 am

Just begging to get his lights punched out.
Oh what fun it would be for Prysner to get into a press conference and get called on to ask a question and instead for him to tell Kincannon, “I’m Mike Prysner. You tweeted to me It is a shame I didn’t come back from Iraq in a body bag. Come on down here, tough guy and say that to my face!”
Then the cameras get some nice video of Prysner landing a right cross, right on the button and dropping Kincannon.
    Shoot, in South Carolina?
I think the odds would be pretty good Prysner could get a hung jury on an assault charge. Down there folks appreciate it when a man, insulted like that, stands up for himself.

Unreal. And this guy was HEAD of the state GOP. A racist mass-murderer wannabe.
I knew Republicans were vile and despicable, but even I never imagined to what extent.

  10. Hirightnow March 29th, 2015 at 11:57 am

    Damn, that’s one racist f*cktard.

This vile hate filled creature was elected?

  17. Mike March 30th, 2015 at 1:37 pm

Even if I buy the crap about drinking a bottle of cough syrup and going postal how do you explain your wife’s statement that the two of you “have a history of unreported domestic violence.”
    Sorry, Todd, I’m calling BS
