We all know that Jesus didn’t want gays to enjoy pizza.  For that reason, the O’Connor family has proudly announced it won’t cater to gays in Walkerton, Indiana.

“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” says Crystal O’Connor of Memories Pizza.

She and her family are standing firm in their beliefs.

The O’Connor’s have owned Memories Pizza in Walkerton for 9 years.

It’s a small-town business, with small-town ideals.

“We are a Christian establishment,” says O’Connor.

The O’Connor family prides themselves in owning a business that reflects their religious beliefs.

“We’re not discriminating against anyone, that’s just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything,” says O’Connor.

So, when Governor Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law, the family was not disappointed.

“We definitely agree with the bill,” says O’Connor.

Right. It’s not discrimination to refuse to serve gays. It’s just Christianity.

Kevin O’Connor, Crystal’s father, says he believes the negative backlash the bill and its supporters are getting isn’t fair.

“That lifestyle is something they choose. I choose to be heterosexual. They choose to be homosexual. Why should I be beat over the head to go along with something they choose?” says Kevin O’Connor.

I wonder how Mr. O’Connor eventually came to the conclusion that he should be heterosexual. It must have involved much soul searching.

I wonder if they serve people who eat shellfish.

    • Dwendt44 April 1st, 2015 at 12:16 pm

Bet they wear mixed fiber as well.
WHO serves pizza at a wedding?

      • fahvel April 1st, 2015 at 12:29 pm

people from their pathetic little burg.

    • bluejayray April 1st, 2015 at 12:25 pm

…or who are divorced. They are also mixing meat and dairy. I’m guessing they’re breaking a LOT of levitican laws.

  2. jybarz April 1st, 2015 at 12:17 pm

    Dumb Christians!
I mean Christians like them, not like the top Christian the Pope.
I’m sure Jesus & the Pope will be embarrassed about them.
    And may even disown them.

  3. Pilotshark April 1st, 2015 at 12:19 pm

so guess what you are saying is if they came in and ordered 50 pizzas for delivery at XYZ location, you jump on it! but what happens when you get there and find out, do you take your pizzas and go home? or have them pay for it?

    • bluejayray April 1st, 2015 at 12:23 pm

It might be fun to do an experiment.

    • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 1:32 pm

Oh, somebody in Indiana should do that. Order 10 pizzas for pick up and, when they’re ready and you go to pick them up, say to the owner, “I’m sorry. I just decided to become gay on my way over, and since it’s against your religious belief to serve gays, I guess I’m going to have to cancel. Sorry.”
      .
I’d love to see that happen.

  4. fahvel April 1st, 2015 at 12:28 pm

WRF is a xian pizza parlor? These aholes hopefully will see their 9 years of pathos ooze down the drown like all irish pizza makers. The f’n nerve to be irish and claim to make and serve pizza. It’s a sin against humanity and the bible wherein it says,”he who maketh or eatith a pizza of irish origin will burn truly well in a red hot stone oven.”

      …factory work maybe–or they could buy a farm…

      • Larry Schmitt April 1st, 2015 at 2:40 pm

Farm’s no good. They’d have too many immigrants around.

        • bluejayray April 1st, 2015 at 4:07 pm

…and farm animals. I really didn’t think this through!

  6. bluejayray April 1st, 2015 at 12:32 pm

Their Yelp page is going crazy–but warning NSFW. Looks like Facebook, too. Here’s just a little taste–remember, this is just about the ice cream.

So, according to the father, gays don’t come out, they “announce their decision” to be gay?

I find it very interesting that when we saw a bunch of spoiled frat boys singing a hateful chant, the big question on everybody’s lips was “Where did they learn that song?”, yet so far I have not heard anyone asking about where the O’Connors and those like them learned their song.

    • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 2:35 pm

From the bible, of course. Although I’m really not sure where, in the bible, it says, “thou shalt not serve gays”, or “thou shalt discriminate against gays at every turn”.

      • Guy Lauten April 1st, 2015 at 2:38 pm

A book is inanimate so it cannot actively teach. That cannot be where they learned it. Another mind had to have molded their behavior. Whose?

        • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 2:56 pm

“A book is inanimate so it cannot actively teach.”
          .
This is true, but don’t forget, churches exist to teach (indoctrinate) children at a very early and impressionable age – like around 6-years-old. If a child learns, through catechism, that God hates homosexuality, they will carry this belief into adulthood. Why do religious zealots scream at women entering PP clinics? Same reason. Their church has decided that God hates birth control and abortion, tells their parishioners, and thus creates a whole hosts of Scott Roeders.

          • Larry Schmitt April 1st, 2015 at 3:02 pm

I used to hate catechism. It was on Saturday morning, ruined the whole weekend.

          • Guy Lauten April 1st, 2015 at 3:06 pm

            Bastards. Amen (hehehe).

          • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 3:29 pm

Hell, I was in Catholic grade school for 8 years. I was taught that anybody, no matter how good or righteous, who doesn’t believe that Jesus is the actual son of God, will not be saved and are headed straight to hell.
            .
Then, when I finally reached the age of reason (when I entered a secular high school, I think), I discovered that organized religion actually promotes hatred and divisiveness.

          • Guy Lauten April 1st, 2015 at 3:05 pm

OK, I agree! So the “leaders” of the church are the ones teaching them this behavior, right? So I will ask the same question I asked Larry, will the leaders of this church be held in the same light by the public as the “teachers” of the SAE ditty? And if not, why not? Whence cometh the double standard, and might it not be time to confront that issue?

          • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 3:22 pm

Don’t forget, we have the “freedom of religion” law. Those preachers can interpret the bible to mean anything they want it to mean, and pass that belief on to their sheeple, who’ll believe anything they’re told. Therefore, if business owners are taught that “God hates f@gs”, and anybody cavorting with such people will burn in hell forever and ever, you bet they’re gonna discriminate to save their mortal soul.

      • Larry Schmitt April 1st, 2015 at 2:39 pm

It’s the American Right Wing Extremist Bible, according to Huckleberry and Bryan Fischer (the so-called American Family Association).

        • Guy Lauten April 1st, 2015 at 2:44 pm

Ah! The Huckster and the LoonyBird! That sounds about right to me (no pun…). So will they be held in the same light by the public as the “teachers” of the SAE ditty? Hmmmm…

  11. oldfart April 1st, 2015 at 2:59 pm

i had no idea that the lgbt folks in Indiana
liked pizza so much that they would actually want
their wedding catered by a pizza parlor
also a very cheeky way to get free advertisement too.

    • Larry Schmitt April 1st, 2015 at 3:01 pm

But it’s a very nice pizza parlor. Color coordinated and everything.

      • Bunya April 1st, 2015 at 3:50 pm

I don’t know. Those flowers on the counter and on the piano – sure looks like they’re pandering to the gay community.

  12. Mike N. April 1st, 2015 at 3:13 pm

I can’t understand how anyone who was ever a hetero teenage boy could think that sexual orientation is a choice.

    • Larry Schmitt April 1st, 2015 at 3:22 pm

But “Dr.” Carson says it is, because prison rape.

  13. allison1050 April 1st, 2015 at 3:24 pm

It’s a 1 star pizza dump any way. Who’d want pizza at a wedding anyone here???

    • Leannie April 1st, 2015 at 4:41 pm

That was my first thought…perhaps there is someone out there who wants pizza at their wedding, I mean after all….didn’t one of the Duggars serve hot dogs at their wedding…am I being too judgemental?
What I really don’t understand though, is if a gay person came into their establishment for pizza that is ok…but they will not cater a gay wedding….how does that make sense? I really want to know where in the Bible I can find the rules for when it is ok to discrimate and when it is not.

      • allison1050 April 1st, 2015 at 9:06 pm

Noooooooo! I wasn’t raised to read a bible so who knows what’s in it.

      • AmusedAmused April 1st, 2015 at 9:43 pm

I think the reason is practicality. If you refuse to serve gays generally, you would have to either rely on your gaydar, or question each customer about his or her sexual orientation before selling them pizza. Which is creepy and weird probably even for these yahoos, and it could get physical. With weddings though, it’s obvious.

  14. viva_democracy April 1st, 2015 at 3:52 pm

It’s not a “Christian Establishment” Crystal. Just because you, the owners, practice the religion of Christianity, unless you’re set up, legally, as a Christian Business, like a Church does, you’re not a fukkking Christian Establishment and you have to serve everyone you ignorant ignoramus.
“We don’t believe it’s targeting the gays”, but if you come into our pizza parlor and you’re gay, we won’t serve you-and she sees no irony in that.

  15. Maxx44 April 1st, 2015 at 3:52 pm

Can this clown remember the exact day that he “chose” to be heterosexual? Was it a close call?

      fire purifies.
maybe the coach needs a religious freedom act that would allow them to have and practice their religious belief also?

  17. StoneyCurtisll April 1st, 2015 at 6:33 pm

Who orders pizza for a wedding party???

    • AmusedAmused April 1st, 2015 at 9:36 pm

Nobody. This was a publicity stunt. Apparently, they overestimated local fundies’ willingness to come in droves to eat their pizza, for Jesus. Although who knows, perhaps the Palins will fly in and buy a stack.

      • granpa.usthai April 2nd, 2015 at 2:32 am

The fake Italian Jesus you see in the pictures may have eaten pizza, but the REAL Jesus NEVER DID!

  18. Foundryman April 1st, 2015 at 7:06 pm

Funny, somehow I just knew this whole “religious freedom” thing was going to go from bizarre to ridiculous as soon as I seen Mike Pence’s picture.

  19. StoneyCurtisll April 1st, 2015 at 7:20 pm

    I’ve been married twice…
Never was pizza even remotely considered as a caterer..

    • Hirightnow April 1st, 2015 at 8:26 pm

God, it’s expensive enough as it is!(Yay for Little Caesar’s, though!)
I can’t imagine the cost of a catered pizza for a wedding reception, much less enough for everyone.
(I’ll forgo comment on people who serve pizza at wedding receptions; it takes all types to make America…)

  21. AmusedAmused April 1st, 2015 at 9:39 pm

There is no such thing as cooking christianly. You are running a for-profit business. It’s raison-d’etre is to serve mammon. S*** up and make pizza.
