[su_right_ad]Drudge headlines, “Does Trevor Noah” have a Jewish problem?” It links to PJ Media taking him to task for a Tweet questioning Israel’s desire for peace. When can we begin to criticize Israel’s policies without hints that we’re anti-Semitic (or, in my case, a self-hating Jew)?

Yesterday, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency appeared to be the first media outlet to notice a disturbing tweet from Comedy Central’s new hire Trevor Noah, who is pegged to replace Jon Stewart as host of the Daily Show:

South Africans know how to recycle like israel knows how to be peaceful.

— Trevor Noah (@Trevornoah) June 2, 2010
Late this evening, author and former Conservative MP Louise Mensch found several more:

Behind every successful Rap Billionaire is a double as rich Jewish man. #BeatsByDreidel

The inadvertent projection of the right wing comes through again.

They protest mightily when anyone dares suggest that criticism of the President is based on race. In the very next breath, they rail against the anti-Semitism of anyone who dares criticize Israeli foreign policy.

Why would they think that legitimate policy criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic? Is it because their criticism of the President is based on race, and they are projecting their own faults on to other people? Just asking a question, as right wingers love to say when trying to hide from the consequences of their opinions.

Well I am not trying to hide from anything. It is really not complicated.

    A. Criticism of Israel’s policies as a nation are not anti-Semitic.

    B. A bumper sticker that says 2012 DON’T RE-NIG is racist

    Any questions?

    • bluejayray March 31st, 2015 at 11:16 am

And of course the elephant in the room is that MOST ALL the people in the Middle East are Semites. Jews don’t own the words.

      • thinkingwomanmillstone March 31st, 2015 at 11:34 am

That is something that they all ignore.

        • bluejayray March 31st, 2015 at 11:52 am

I have a constant ringing in my ears from all the cognitive dissonance.

It’s looking like gonna be a long night or day wherever one might be…yawn..

        • AmusedAmused March 31st, 2015 at 6:07 pm

“They all”? Yesn Jews are horrible like that.

          • thinkingwomanmillstone March 31st, 2015 at 7:01 pm

Well the subject of the article I was commenting on is “the right wing” and that is the “they” I was referring to in my comment about the article. If you want to assume that the subject was Jewish people then that is your projection showing through quite clearly. So stop your lecturing and try taking a look in the mirror. It is a fact that Semite is not a word that refers only to Jewish people. Nor, is it a fact that all Jewish people are Semites.

          • AmusedAmused March 31st, 2015 at 7:19 pm

Your comment was a response to an earlier statement that “Jews don’t own the word”, therefore it was quite reasonable on my part to assume that your “they” refers to Jews.

As to you second point, while it’s true that not all Semites are Jews and not all Jews are Semites, in historical context the word “antisemitic” refers to the hatred of Jews. It was antisemites themselves who made it so, so you really have no badus for blaming Jews for it. Furthermore, I really don’t understand what stripping the word “antisemitism” of its proper socio-historical context gets you. Okay, so according to you, Hitler was not an antisemite, because he was friendly to Arabs. And …? What’s your point? What, like, yay Hitler? How does delegitimizing the term “antisemitism” legitimize the hatred of Jews?

Also, as long as we are on the topic of language: the word “projection” doesn’t mean what you think it means. A word of advice: you will get nowhere with pseudo-scientific term-dropping or trying to suggest that disputing something you said is a sign of a personal psychological problem. It doesn’t lend weight to you argument; it’s merely an attempt at bullying. And a very transparent one, at that.

            Ironic avatar.

      • AmusedAmused March 31st, 2015 at 6:07 pm

        Two observations:

        1. The word “antisemitism” was coined by antisemites to refer to the hatred of Jews. The idea was to give antisemitism a patina of scholarship and to underline the fact that Jews weren’t European. Nowadays, antisemites have switched tactics, and are invoking the existence of non-Jewish Semites in furtherance of the claim that Jews are ethnically European. The idea is to erase the reality of ETHNIC Jew-hatred and to deny the long history of Europe violently rejecting Jews for being non-European. Frankly, it’s no better than Holocaust denial.

        2. What’s your point, anyway? That hating Jews doesn’t make one antisemitic? Ooookay. Suppose you win. And? Hating Jews isn’t anti-semitism, fine. And joking about killing Jewish children with German cars is legitimate criticism of Israel.

    • AmusedAmused March 31st, 2015 at 6:10 pm

“A. Criticism of Israel’s policies as a nation is not anti-Semitism”

Unless the criticism of Israel as a nation consists of classic antisemitic stuff, in which case it’s antisemitism. Bottom line, some criticism of Israel is motivated by the hatred if Jews, and it’s dishonest to deny that.

  2. bluejayray March 31st, 2015 at 11:14 am

What’s the problem? He’s spot on.

  3. Larry Schmitt March 31st, 2015 at 11:18 am

It will be interesting to see Jon Stewart’s take on this when he returns next week. He should have some fun with it.

The guy is very funny. He’s pretty popular. I guess you can’t please everyone especially the GOP hating Zombies… I mean GOP Zombies & they are haters.

It’s bad enough that they have to take intelligent, accurate pushback from a white American but they’re not going to take it from this man. Of course, it has nothing whatsoever to do with his ethnicity.

    • Bunya March 31st, 2015 at 1:36 pm

Of COURSE not! It has absolutely NOTHING, whatsoever, to do with his skin color. After all, look how fairly and respectfully they’ve treated our president.

  6. Suzanne McFly March 31st, 2015 at 12:21 pm

Good, that means he is already doing a great job and he hasn’t even sat in the chair yet.

One of the most often quoted movie lines ever. And deservedly so.

  8. FatRat March 31st, 2015 at 4:26 pm

That is a good plan destroy the baby/show while it’s in its crib. Makes sense don’t wait until they have a full fledged threat, preemptive destruction. Right wing thinks they are like Hera tossing two snakes to kill Hercules in his crib. Problem is that Trevor is going to easily tear them apart. Israel was pro South Africa. South Africa was pro apartheid and pro Israel. I think Trevor is going to knock them down a few pegs. Never get into a fight with someone who is 100 lbs heavier than you or is about 100 IQ points higher than yours. lol

    Hercules and the serpent.

Or maybe he’s just gonna get into a VW and run over a bunch of Jewish kindergartners, for laffs. It’s really encouraging to see the left support this.

  9. AmusedAmused March 31st, 2015 at 5:55 pm

It’s really telling that, while taking PJ Media to task, you omit any mention of Noah’s OTHER, shockingly antisemitic and misogynistic tweets, including one about hitting a Jewish kid with a German car, the one about Jewish girls not being into BJ’s and the one about money-grubbing Jews controlling the music industry. What’s the matter, you didn’t think those were relevant? Shame on you.

Or maybe, all those “jokes” about Jews, that don’t even mention Israel, constitute “legitimate criticism of Israel in your view? Like, “running over a Jewish child with a German car is hilarious” = legitimate criticism of Israel? “Jewish broads are frigid” = valid advocacy for human rights? In that case, THANK YOU. Thank you for clarifying once and for all that most people who “just critize Israel” by invoking tired anti-semitic canards would lie down with anti-Semites anyway and that the whole “just criticizing Israel” BS is just that — BS. Thank you for proving those who react to any criticism of Israel by charging Jew-hatred RIGHT.

And incidentally, if Jewish women are in fact reluctant to go down on this piece o’ ****, I consider that a point in Jewish women’s favor.

  10. The_Real_Teabagger_jesus March 31st, 2015 at 11:49 pm

Right wing? I have news for you. I’m a flaming liberal and I’m attacking it, I will boycott comedy central and i will continue tweeting them daily and letting them know how huge a mistake this is. BTW, every liberal I know and read on line is also upset over this and complaining to comedy central and TDS. This guy is racist, sexist, not funny and not American. They already failed with Colbert’s replacement and I guess comedy cnetral is prepared to completely go down the tubes with these 2 untalented choices.

I’ve seen NO republicans or rightwingers comment on this topic, anywhere. I’ve only seen fellow liberals outrages with this horrible choice. this guys anti jew, racist and sexist tweets and instragrams are being posted all over the net.. hopefully CC will come to their senses before it’s too late.

Oh and the only so-called lefty I’ve sen praising this is that racist no talent POS Chris Rock. who cares what he thinks? He’s racist and sexist and talentless.

    • William April 1st, 2015 at 11:05 am

They already failed with Colbert’s replacement
What Colbert replacement are you talking about?

      • jybarz April 1st, 2015 at 11:31 am

He’s probably talking about Larry Wilmore or John Oliver, but more likely Larry because he’s another black like Chris Rock & Trevor Noah.

        Can’t be John Oliver… he’s white, therefore he’s really funny, right The_Real_Teabagger_jesus?

        • William April 1st, 2015 at 11:48 am

John Oliver is with HBO now. It seems to me they actually didn’t replace Colbert. I like the Larry Wilmore show, but I don’t think it was meant to replace Colbert. Entirely different format

  11. wpadon April 1st, 2015 at 8:33 am

Of course conservatives will hate an African, remember Herman Cain. He was nothing more than a token in 2012.

  12. rg9rts April 1st, 2015 at 12:58 pm

He will bomb because he IS NOT funny

  13. rg9rts April 1st, 2015 at 12:59 pm

He isn’t funny and has a lousy delivery..

  14. DogsRgoodpeople April 1st, 2015 at 1:50 pm

Well, I hope the challenge for Mr. Noah to prove he is not an anti-semite on the show won’t prevent him from pointing out from time to time what a pos Mr Netinyahooo is .
