Rick Santorum spoke to Tony Perkins of Family Research Council.

…Santorum told Tony Perkins that the fights in Indiana and Arkansas over right-to-discriminate laws are part of a larger “assault” on religious freedom.

“The corporate community now has bought in with the popular culture and bought in with the left,” Santorum said. “This is not the gay community, this is the left of America trying to impose their will on the church and on the family and really to, in my opinion, devastating consequences.”

The former Pennsylvania senator and likely presidential candidate said Americans must “begin to push back and rise up” against left-wing officials who are bent on “imposing their will on people of faith.”

Lunatic yes indeed but that particular quote is an Urban Legend. Like the one conservative meme where Obama claimed there were 57 states.

Anyone with even a whiff of political sense knows that gay bashing is over. More than over, it’s self-destructive.

But these social conservatives got nothin’ else.

    It’s pathetic.

These ideologues criticize the President for being “divisive”. Then in the very next speech, demonize millions of Americans.

I would simply pose a simple question to anyone who would consider voting for Santorum in either the primary or the general election. How do the words of your preferred candidate address and correct the “divisiveness” for which you Condemn the President?

If you concede that Santorum’s words do nothing to address the divisiveness for which the President is condemned for creating, a reasonable person can only conclude, that for the past 6 years, you were all full of sh*t.

The moral of the story boys and girls is that there is a distressingly large number of conservatives who would have us believe that any politician who dares disagree with them is being “divisive”. It fits perfectly with what I have observed from conservative America since November 2000.

They love America when they win elections. They love democracy when they win elections. They love judicial intervention when it hands them the Presidency. Spending a trillion dollars on a war for weapons that did not exist is sound foreign policy.

But when conservatives don’t get their way and lose at the ballot box, suddenly we must have voter id, the birth certificate must be produced, “activist” judges are to be hauled before Congress. Secession from the union is a legitimate option. Federal safety net programs and services which cost us about two weeks worth of the cost of the Iraq war, are unaffordable and must be eliminated.

In my posts in this forum, I try to be as specific as I can about what I dislike about conservatism. Whenever possible I use the actual words and deeds of the person I am criticizing, and not some blogger’s opinion.

In today’s illustration of why I dislike conservatism, we see a possible Presidential candidate explicitly villifying millions of fellow Americans. Yet, those who wail and gnash their teeth about President Obama and his divisiveness, are silent.

    So f*ck em.

“This is not the gay community, this is the left of America trying to impose their will on the church and on the family and really to, in my opinion, devastating consequences.”

‘The’ church? WTF are you talking about? Which church is ‘the’ church? There are certainly many churches which already marry same sex couples, so I guess ‘those’ churches aren’t ‘the’ church. So which church did the constitution make ‘The’ church?
