The school should be fired by taxpayers. Let them support themselves if they want to discriminate.

[Jaclyn] Pfeiffer said that she moved to Florida to work as a dancer for Disney, and then took a job at Aloma Methodist Early Childhood Learning Center. But after her girlfriend began working as substitute teacher in another part of the school, rumors started to spread.

Even though Pfeiffer insisted that the couple tried to keep their relationship private, the school director eventually called her into her office to confront her about it.

“And then she was like, ‘Is it true what the rumors are about you and Kelly?’ and I said ‘Yes,” Pfeiffer recalled. “I said, ‘Could I be fired for that?’ and she said ‘Yes.’”

“Basically she said that what I’m doing is not socially acceptable and I’m living a life of sin.”

Within days, Pfeiffer was out of a job…

Aloma Methodist Early Childhood Learning Center receives $2,442 in taxpayer funding per child from the state of Florida for providing voluntary prekindergarten (VPK) during the school year. The state pays the school $2,080 per child during the summer session.

Attorneys pointed out to WFTV that the school had not broken any laws by firing Pfeiffer for her sexual orientation. An ordinance in Orange County, where the school is located, prohibits discrimination against LGBT people, but churches are exempted.

10 bucks says sexual preference wasn’t on the job application

    • AmusedAmused April 8th, 2015 at 11:40 am

Even if it was, it would still be wrong.

“Basically she said that what I’m doing is not socially acceptable and I’m living a life of sin.”

Not ‘socially acceptable’? Does she think it’s 1952 or something? She needs to hang out with a better class of people if her impression of society is that a grown woman loving another grown woman is not ‘acceptable’.

And yes, if they have received one penny of taxpayer money, of course they must return it and not be offered more of it. They should seek out Iranian or Russian money as they are more ideologically aligned with this school than the US.

    • Budda April 8th, 2015 at 8:29 am

Not only should the “school” not recieve another dime of tax payer monies but someone should start a payfund to raise $800k for her.

      • fedupmd April 8th, 2015 at 9:18 am

        Why not you, Bud?

        • Budda April 8th, 2015 at 11:08 am

I am appalled. Less by what happened to this woman than by the fact that taxpayer funds are going to a religious school!

    • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 6:15 am

They may be appalled that taxpayer funds pay for abortion.. See how that works… We are all offended by something.. Im appalled that Americans are homeless and we put billions into illegals.. I wonder why we dont take care of Americans first ?

      • Roctuna April 8th, 2015 at 7:28 am

Except thanks to talibaggers in state legislatures and the Hyde amendment, tax dollars don’t fund any abortions. See how that works?

        • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 7:33 am

No I dont, not at all.. Here on NYC our city tax dollars fund abortions and I’m all for it. Ill even donate… PRO CHOICE !!! But I wont pay for any Illegals because Americans deserve to be treated first. PERIOD..

          • Roctuna April 8th, 2015 at 10:02 am

I’ll stand slightly corrected, in relation to New York, one of the few states that does fund some abortions before 24 weeks. Even there, restrictions appear to be so tight that there are volunteer funds to help poor women and a guide to help them navigate the complex Medicaid policies

            http://nirhealth.org/sections/ourprograms/documents/ProviderResourceGuidefinal.pdf

I stand by the general accuracy of my original statement however.

          • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 11:56 am

actually medicaid did for special cases concerning medical viability and mothers health…otherwise no it does not

          • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 12:17 pm

I disagree and if I am wrong taxes should pay for special case abortions like rape, mothers health etc… If Im going to pay for illegals than American women should have this choice..

          • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 12:24 pm

what if she were raped by a citizen? People are people, period, when you “label” them you lose.

          • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 12:36 pm

          • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 1:37 pm

Civil offense and a person, get it!

          • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 4:00 pm

No its not a CIVIL offense. Read the law http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/8/12/II/VIII/1325

          • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 12:39 pm

          • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 1:36 pm

      • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 11:51 am

        • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 12:20 pm

I have read it and NY is one of several states that funds special case abortions

          • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 12:24 pm

special cases, you implied general and were called out

      • Bunya April 8th, 2015 at 2:34 pm

“They may be appalled that taxpayer funds pay for abortion”
        .
I’m appalled these religious schools aren’t paying to support all these babies they convinced desperate women to have under the threat of “eternal damnation”? Why are MY tax dollars going to support these unwed mothers and their babies? This school should lose it’s tax exempt status – yesterday!

  4. jybarz April 8th, 2015 at 5:55 am

Holy Cow! This is exactly what that fckg religious freedom law does. It’s a freedom to discriminate LGBT and anyone or anything else they think offends them.
So fck you GOP & rightwing christians, you’re bloody evils using religion for your un-Christian deeds.

  5. rg9rts April 8th, 2015 at 7:57 am

If its not part of the job description…see you in court!

  6. AmusedAmused April 8th, 2015 at 11:41 am

Taking an interest in the sex lives of consenting adults is a sexual perversion. People who exhibit it should not be teaching kids.

  7. tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 11:51 am

It is not a church, it is a publicaly funded school. Take away all subsidies

This is what happens when Dems and independents sit home and the teabaggers vote, we get theocratic teababblers in charge.
