The Arkansas senator says bombing Iran would be a cakewalk, not like Iraq.

“Even if military action were required — and we certainly should have kept the credible threat of military force on the table throughout which always improves diplomacy — the president is trying to make you think it would be 150,000 heavy mechanized troops on the ground in the Middle East again as we saw in Iraq and that’s simply not the case,” Cotton said.

“It would be something more along the lines of what President Clinton did in December 1998 during Operation Desert Fox. Several days air and naval bombing against Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction facilities for exactly the same kind of behavior. For interfering with weapons inspectors and for disobeying Security Council resolutions. All we’re asking is that the president simply be as tough as in the protection of America’s national security interest as Bill Clinton was.”

You send your kids first, Tommy Boy.

    • Snick1946 April 8th, 2015 at 11:20 pm

He’s just 37, kinda doubt he has kids of military age. The guy scares me- and I have not said that about too many public officials. To me he just looks like he’s nuts. Reminds me of some of the dazed brainwashed home schooled young people I see sometimes.

  2. anothertoothpick April 8th, 2015 at 4:10 pm

Isn’t that what rummy told us?

My question is how does a pin head neocon like this get elected to anything?

    • rg9rts April 8th, 2015 at 4:33 pm

      red state

    • granpa.usthai April 9th, 2015 at 2:46 pm

      WHITE as cotton?

  3. Pilotshark April 8th, 2015 at 4:17 pm

Iraq did not have an effective air defense system during Operation Desert Fox, Iran is a different situation. If bombing Iran was easy, Bibi would have done it himself.

  5. rg9rts April 8th, 2015 at 4:32 pm

This clown is totally brain dead ….every time he opens his mouth, he confirms how stupid the people of Arkansas are

    • Suzanne McFly April 8th, 2015 at 4:45 pm

We can’t blame all of them, just a small portion of people from Arkansas have voted for this idiot.

      • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 4:48 pm

The problem is, just a small portion of the people from Arkansas (and every other state) have voted, period.

        • Suzanne McFly April 8th, 2015 at 5:10 pm

          Very true.

  6. Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 4:40 pm

So the Defense Department is supposed to take advice from someone whose only military experience is playing with green plastic army men in the sandbox? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIUxoytpcxE

  7. Suzanne McFly April 8th, 2015 at 4:44 pm

Just like Arkansas can be removed from America with an eraser. Ooooh, only if it were that simple.

  8. Foundryman April 8th, 2015 at 4:46 pm

He must have went to the Cheney/Rumsfeld school of military planning. That’s what they said about Iraq. I’m surprised he didn’t claim our soldiers would be honored as liberating heroes in Tehran.

    • StoneyCurtisll April 8th, 2015 at 5:20 pm

And showered with roses and candy..

  9. Jeb == Mexican Impregnator April 8th, 2015 at 4:55 pm

Seems to me Cheney said he same thing… in, out, in weeks, be welcomed as heros, cost only $50b . blah blah blah. There is a reason the ME hates America.

    • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 6:05 pm

Many flowers were supposed to bloom and the troops would be home for Christmas….

      • nola878 April 8th, 2015 at 6:21 pm

Hey now…took my son months to get all the rose stains off his boots from all the petals they walked in when they marched through Baghdad…

The officers had the same problem, so no one was ever punished for not having spit shined boots during that time…

        • Hirightnow April 8th, 2015 at 6:41 pm

How did he deal with the diabetes from all that candy being thrown?

          • nola878 April 8th, 2015 at 7:20 pm

Fortunately, unlike many of his platoon mates, he escaped it altogether. The frightening amount of cavities he contracted is a different matter…

Tom Cotton: Bombing Iran Would Just Take A Few Days
    __________

    So?

I don’t even know if these people believe what they say, or if they are just grandstanding.

  11. StoneyCurtisll April 8th, 2015 at 5:19 pm

Bombing Iran would take no effort at all from Tommy Cotton…
If only we drafted military age Representatives, all this talk of bombing Iran would cease to exist.

  12. StoneyCurtisll April 8th, 2015 at 5:27 pm

Tom Cotton: “Bombing Iran Would Just Take A Few Days”..
And how many billions of dollars?.
And as if there would be no repercussions, political or otherwise.

  13. thinkingwomanmillstone April 8th, 2015 at 5:50 pm

He’s already getting measured for his flight suit and having his Mission Accomplished Signs printed. Will they never learn?

    • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 6:46 pm

With an extra roomy seat for when he soils his undies at the first sight of the enemy.

  14. burqa April 8th, 2015 at 6:04 pm

And this goofball is in the Senate?
I think we could take out their nuke facilities in a day, but that is not the point.
This dumbass doesn’t seem to understand when we should go to war with another country – and that is when we and our interests are directly threatened and after we have exhausted all options.

Good thing he didn’t bring up Reagan’s policy toward Iran, eh?.

Nice of him to bring up Superstar Bill Clinton, though. When Clinton was president, he managed to quietly change Iran’s behavior. Iranian intelligence operatives were following around, sometimes blatantly, American diplomats and were seen casing American facilities in a number of different countries around the world.
In a little-known operation, Superstar Bill Clinton worked with many countries around the globe to all, nearly simultaneously, expel all the Iranian intelligence officers in theor countries (who were operating under diplomatic cover). In one stroke, Clinton blinded Iranian intelligence and they got the message to not mess with us and afterward did just that.

    • Hirightnow April 8th, 2015 at 6:38 pm

      But…but….the blue dress!

      • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 9:58 pm

        Vince Foster!

  15. burqa April 8th, 2015 at 6:09 pm

I’m surprised the easier solution hasn’t occurred to this Republican. Given the way he single-handedly won the battle of Iwo Jima, beat off waves of commie hordes on Pork Chop Hill, kicked Iraq out of Kuwait and cleared out Anbar Province all by himself, why not just send in Bill O’Reilly?

    • Jake April 8th, 2015 at 7:02 pm

Maybe not on his own – but with the help of these two seasoned vets…….maybe…Yes its the return of girl-hands Hannity.

      • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 8:33 pm

That is a delicate paw, isn’t it?

      • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 9:56 pm

Naw, man, we could send in, what was he called here, “Ragin’ Randy” or something? The kid Klan guy who posed for a picture looking all tough with a pair of pistols………….or maybe the Klan guy who posed for cheesecake pix nekkid, holding an assault rifle over his privates…

      • granpa.usthai April 9th, 2015 at 2:43 pm

they’re only capable of retreating when confronted by children under the age of 10.
        BUTT
WTF, we could always use them as a reserve element – JIC 800,000,000 Asian troops suddenly appeared.

    • tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 8:25 pm

      funny and clever!

      • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 9:54 pm

Yeah, we just send in Bill “Sergeant Fury” O’Reilly and let him do some rootin’ and tootin’!

        • granpa.usthai April 9th, 2015 at 2:40 pm

not that I’d expect any would be needed, but how’s about 47 reserves, sort of explain to the American people why we used a US Military Transport aircraft instead of just carrying drugs into the US. Then they could all line up for a photo shot at the Tehran airport with Mitt and the Bank of Utah jet. (which is really shoddy when compared to the Flying Palace our POTUS uses).

    • granpa.usthai April 9th, 2015 at 2:34 pm

I like the airlifting of the RepubliCONs who seem to always miss the ‘exciting’ adventures they throw America’s best into.

I’m thinking by maybe dropping in about 47 hardcore troopers to begin with. If not successful, we could try sending in the entire Klan with SCOTUS backup!

  16. nola878 April 8th, 2015 at 6:24 pm

All Iran has to do to retaliate is close the Straights of Hormuz…that will send the world’s economy into an instant tail spin. And guess who the world will blame?

    • Roctuna April 8th, 2015 at 6:56 pm

I’m thinking it wouldn’t be Tom Cotton. Someone should explain asymmetrical warfare to this yahoo. The retaliation would be long, bloody, and next to impossible to stop. Blockading the straights could be step 1. Dirty bombs in Western capitals, Step 2. Selective assassinations Step 3. These warmongers think it’s all one-sided but once opened, you can’t close Pandora’s box.

    • bluejayray April 9th, 2015 at 12:38 pm

Obama. Oh wait–the United States. The ‘baggers will blame it on Obama.

  17. tracey marie April 8th, 2015 at 8:24 pm

Wow, the callous way these inbred teabaggers talk about killing thousands of innocent people, they are psychotic in their lust for blood and death

  18. frambley1 April 9th, 2015 at 1:52 am

6 days, six weeks, on the outset six months.
And we would be greeted like liberators?

If only our foreign policy was dictated by the side of the aisle who has always been right again.

    • bluejayray April 9th, 2015 at 12:36 pm

Weeks not years! It’ll pay for itself! We’ll be greeted as liberators!!

  19. Warman1138 April 9th, 2015 at 6:58 am

Starting a war can be easy, stopping one is not.

  20. bluejayray April 9th, 2015 at 12:35 pm

Yeah thanks–but most of us can still hear that voice in our heads–“They’ll greet us like liberators! Days not weeks! It’ll pay for itself!” Go away Tom.

  21. bluejayray April 9th, 2015 at 12:37 pm

My ears still ring with the sound of that man’s idiocy. I hear that Jeb just sent Cheney out to find him a vice presidential candidate…

  22. granpa.usthai April 9th, 2015 at 2:29 pm

    to LYING Tom Cotton:

bombing another sovereign nation is an ACT OF WAR, even if chickenchit Republicans are too cowardly to put it in writing.

If you seek international approval, opt for turning in the top 2-3 internationally wanted WAR CRIMINALS of the Iraq military armed adventurism.

The FASTEST way to encourage a nation to go Nuclear is to threaten ‘bombing’ – invasions – or even international “UNIONIZED” sanctions.

  23. William April 9th, 2015 at 10:52 pm

    Bagger said what?

    • MR. RIGHT April 9th, 2015 at 11:05 pm

He lives to start fights. Not himself of course, but YOUR kids can have some war stories to tell.

  24. illinoisboy1977 April 10th, 2015 at 12:31 pm

While I think he’s WAY too trigger happy, I think the government DOES have a battle plan already drawn up, against Iran. They’d be fools, not to. Iran can’t be trusted to keep their word and I’m almost certain that we’ll wind up taking military action against them, in the future. We just need to make sure it doesn’t become a proxy war with Russia.
