Santorum Brags About Opposing Gay Sex

He wants Iowa to know he was right all along.
Santorum recalled how he was against a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that decriminalized sodomy (gay sex) laws, noted RightWingWatch.org (video below).
Santorum stated:
I go back 13 years to when I was in the United States Senate and stood up and said, “If the Supreme Court decides a case this way, then all these bad things are going to start happening.” And I said we would have same-sex marriage in this country in ten years. I was wrong, it was five. And I was put through a national wringer like no one had been put through and I have been put through over and over and over again because I am not going to back down from what I believe is the right course for our country.

Santorum told the Associated Press in 2003:
We have laws in states, like the one at the Supreme Court right now, that has sodomy laws and they were there for a purpose. Because, again, I would argue, they undermine the basic tenets of our society and the family. And if the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does.

I struggle with the issue of anti-sodomy laws.
On one hand, it is atrocious for anyone to be prosecuted under them.
On the other hand, we had such a law here until a few years ago, and it was always kinda spicy to look down and say, “Hey baby, do you know we could go to jail for doing this?”
I didn’t like having that taken away.
