I think it would be safer to have “jihad” on the button than Arizona Congressman Trent Franks.

“There comes a time when Israel will not be able to reach from the air, without some ground forces, some of the potential facilities that could come into being and if they don’t do it at the right time, it may be essentially too late for them to reach that, so they’re in an extremely difficult circumstance,” Franks said.

“All I can say is that if America lets Israel down, America will be letting America down and America will be letting the world down.” Franks continued: “I sometimes do not have the intellectual wattage to overcome the bewilderment in my heart when an American president stands by and lets Israel, our most vital ally in the world, be threatened by a dangerous, hellish regime like exists in Iran today and allows the potential of jihad to put their finger on the nuclear button. It is a disgrace that literally defies description in the English language.”

I think the democrats are missing a perfect time to start a draft. If the right wingers want to continue to be war mongers, the left should say fine as long as there is a draft.

Are you kidding? Just look at all the chickenhawks who went out of their way to avoid the draft during the Viet Nam war. Dick Cheney, himself, who was brave enough to send America’s finest to die in an unnecessary war for profit, applied for, and received five deferments when he was young enough to serve. And of course, there’s speculation that daddy Bush was able to secure a cushy national guard post for Dubya so he didn’t have to risk breaking a fingernail fighting the Vietcong.

The GOP would LOVE another draft they can have their children avoid – but of course first we need another war.

        Then get rid of waivers.

That sounds great, in theory. But in this world, money runs everything. If you have enough power, notoriety and especially money, you can buy your way into (and out of) anything.
Here’s an example. Newt Gingrich, who was divorced 3 times, was able to buy his way into the Catholic church. He is now a Catholic in good standing. At the same time, a poor, unknown, battered woman who divorces her husband in order to stop the violence, is excommunicated.

I know and I sadly agree with your statement, but in a perfect world we would not need wars and if we did, we would fight them as a team, one and all together.

S, when you’ve been subject to the draft and all its inequities, rethink what you have said.

      • Suzanne McFly April 18th, 2015 at 11:07 am

I am saying that because they would never support the draft. I would not want us into another war at all, but if they keep putting us into endless engagements, they need to quit using the same poor and middle-class youth.

Stacy Keach is right! Israel is a plucky little country with a big heart! Why, look at how well they fear-monger against non-Jewish Israelis!

  3. fahvel April 18th, 2015 at 3:28 am

where do these people come up with these ideas – no logic, no facts, just babbling to be heard?
