The case of the Baltimore man, Freddie Gray, 25, is being investigated.

The arrest occurred one week ago. Video released on YouTube shows Gray screaming in pain as police officers drag him to the van, and there is a dispute over how much time elapsed before Baltimore Police sought medical help. Via CBS Baltimore:

According to a timeline provided by Baltimore Police, at 8:54 a.m. Gray was put in additional restrains inside the van. But, at 9:24 a.m., he was rushed to the hospital–attorneys say his spine was 80 percent severed at his neck where three bones were broken. He later lapsed into a coma and died Sunday morning at approximately 7:00 a.m.
“His leg look broke,” a bystander is heard to yell. “Y’all are dragging him like he’s dead.”

“What we know is that while in police custody for committing no crime — for which they had no justification for making the arrest except he was a black man running — his spine was virtually severed, 80 percent severed, in the neck area,” said Billy Murphy, attorney for Gray’s family, per theBaltimore Sun. Murphy added that Gray “lapsed into a coma, died, was resuscitated, stayed in a coma and on Monday, underwent extensive surgery at Shock Trauma. He clung to life for seven days.”

I’m going to wait to give my opinion until the police release the rest of the evidence to the media (FOX). Then I can watch with my cheese sandwich in hand, while they form my opinion, so I can troll the web. I’m so excited!

the cops chased down the man because he was running, unprovoked? They found a “switchblade clipped inside his pocket.

clipped inside his pocket. not waving it around, not threatening anyone. if they hadn’t approached him or touched him, they would never have known about it. because he wasn’t doing anything wrong.

Score to date in the Great War Of Terror:
Osama bin Laden: 3,000 American civilians killed.
US Police Forces: 5,000 American civilians killed.

      Quite the stat young lady

Media, press and all who have a megaphone should shout that stat to one and all.

I don’t understand why this is happening at such an alarming rate. Are cops becoming more addlebrained, more bigoted, or more fascist? The cops seem to enjoy displaying their dominance over the common citizen.

    • craig7120 April 20th, 2015 at 3:28 pm

My theory, young adrenaline junkie cops are viewing citizens as enemy combatants, a family member who’s an officer said young guns are out of control by not being mentored by “old heads” who used to be partnered up on team units. Some have zero tolerance for questioning authority.
Remember the saying “I’m a tax payer and I know my rights”?
Rights are forfeited if your viewed as the enemy, then again more cameras, more social media outlets being viewed, could it be as simple as this is the norm and being brought out into the sunshine?

      • whatthe46 April 20th, 2015 at 3:36 pm

but, only black men are seen as “enemy combatants” even when walking across the street.

        • craig7120 April 20th, 2015 at 3:44 pm

some with lying eyes might debate you, I’m not gonna. Dreadfully you’re correct

        • allison1050 April 20th, 2015 at 6:08 pm

          That would include Hispanics also.

      • StoneyCurtisll April 20th, 2015 at 5:41 pm

A lot of cops today are veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan where everyone was considered the enemy, and kicking in doors of homes without warrants was standard operating procedure.

        • allison1050 April 20th, 2015 at 6:06 pm

They were doing this before these last 2 wars Stoney. The difference now is that most people have cell phones and all are capable of taking photos and videos add that to social media THIS is what makes all of this seem like it’s “new” when indeed it’s actually old hat in minority neighborhoods. People are able to upload a video long before local and national “news” gets it.

          • StoneyCurtisll April 20th, 2015 at 6:19 pm

            Exactly~!…
I was going to bring up the “smart phone” technology..
Were nearly everyone now has a video camera in hand at all times and now can record theses police encounters..
Unfortunately for the police, it seems they haven’t caught on to it yet, cause they keep getting caught on video abusing and killing people…
Just like they had always been doing and getting away with it.

          • allison1050 April 20th, 2015 at 8:34 pm

            Exactly.

          • whatthe46 April 20th, 2015 at 8:55 pm

sad part is they still aren’t being prosecuted.

        • fahvel April 21st, 2015 at 4:13 am

do you thank little gwdipshit for this state of affairs? Seems like the snow ball the creep started is only beginning to get bigger and bigger.

  5. VegasJessie April 20th, 2015 at 3:11 pm

I just saw the video taken by a bystander. they broke his neck. no brutality here….move along.

    • tracey marie April 20th, 2015 at 3:49 pm

I saw it as well, whenthey were dragging the screaming man I almost died myself.

      • whatthe46 April 20th, 2015 at 4:06 pm

i didn’t see any video. but reading it is enough anyway.

  6. Foundryman April 20th, 2015 at 5:13 pm

How much more are we as a society going to accept? When does this brutality become brutality and people start to demand it stops? The police are being trained, but they are trained in a manner that puts people at risk whenever they encounter each other. This is just plain wrong, the police should not be harming anyone.

  7. allison1050 April 20th, 2015 at 6:00 pm

    RIP young man.

  8. MarcoZandrini April 20th, 2015 at 9:05 pm

The police officers’ excuse is that Mr. Grey saw the police, and turned and ran the other way. Too bad for the Copland Mr. Grey. It seems SCOTUS rules a feed years ago that doing just what Mr. Grey did is NOT illegal unless there’s a warrant out for the person. Ooops!

    • whatthe46 April 20th, 2015 at 9:18 pm

but, we have to believe the officers in the first place. i for one don’t believe anything that comes out of their mouths when a death such as this occurs. and even if true, you don’t get to beat them to death.
