Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has a contempt of court hearing for violating a judge’s orders on racial profiling.

…Arpaio has acknowledged disobeying the judge’s pretrial order that barred his immigration enforcement patrols. He also has accepted responsibility for his agency’s failure to turn over traffic-stop videos in the profiling case and bungling a plan to gather such recordings from officers once some videos were discovered.

The hearing marks the boldest attempt to hold the normally defiant sheriff personally responsible for his actions…

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow will decide whether Arpaio and four aides should be held in contempt for violating the order barring the sheriff’s immigration patrols. Rank-and-file officers weren’t told about the injunction, leaving them to violate the order for about 18 months.

The sheriff and his second-in-command, Jerry Sheridan, have acknowledged violating the order and being responsible for the agency’s failure to turn over traffic-stop videos and bungling the subsequent plan to gather recordings from officers.

Arpaio proposed offering a public apology and making a donation to a civil rights organization from his own pockets.

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow has said the $100,000 donation proposed by Arpaio and Sheridan was an adequate personal financial penalty but rejected their requests to call off the hearing because their proposal didn’t comprehensively resolve the contempt case.

As a resident of Maricopa Co., I am hoping this tyrant piece of manure will be flushed down the toilet.

What? And pollute the fine water in Maricopa county? I suggest we put him in a space ship and send him to outer space. Let the inter galactic aliens deal with him. And since he should have company, we can throw in Bruce Rauner (the new republican governor of Illinois).

how’s about putting a t-shirt on him that says “F” Mexico then dropping his fat ass on the southern side of the fence with NO ID.?

I say, fit him with a pair of pink undies and take away his shoes so he can not run away.

I thought about that. Why give him any overly sexual pleasures? -make him wear WHITE boxer undies – first in a Federal Corrections facility, then in a state correctional facility, then in the Maricopa County facility?

There are consequences for taking the law into you own hands sheriff.

Jail time is the only thing this clown understands. If he can scratch together $100.000, he’s overpaid.

He also has the contempt of every reasonable person in Maricopa County. There are still a few left. There’s Sarge here, and I have a few relatives that live there.

Two public servants actually have $100K in cash? I guess all the savings from housing prisoners in tents in 100-degree heat, feeding them rotten food and denying them life-saving medicine have been put to “good use”.

Incidentally — and speaking from experience here — if 100K is their opening bid, they can probably cough up as much as half a million without having to sell their homes and boats.

      I smiled when I read that…$100k??!! WTF?

it’s that damnable Obamer economy that’s ruining America fault!

If, as some good old southern sheriffs have done, use the prison labor to clear private property, or otherwise help out a civilian for a ‘small fee’, they could have a boat load of money stashed away.

If this guy was any sort of cop who had spent any time in court, he would understand that pissing off a judge will always result in a shit storm. Trying to throw money at the problem likely compounds his arrogance. I’ve long felt that the justice system has been feeding Joe as much rope as he cares to hang himself with, and now the reeling in process begins.

I’ll just wait and see what the outcome will be since he’s gotten away with so much crap for decades.

It’s a shame that a RepubliCON controlled SCOTUS allows known corrupt public law enforcement officials VIOLATE and CONSPIRE to VIOLATE the FEDERAL CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of US CITIZENS just because their LAWLESS RepubliCON Controlled State Governments allow them to.
