When right-winger after right-winger makes these alarming statements, one has to wonder how many people believe them. And will any of them admit they were wrong when marriage equality is the law of the land?

Dobson, who founded the highly influential groups Focus on the Family and Family Research Council and now runs Family Talk Radio, is warning that if the U.S. Supreme Court redefines marriage as analysts predict, the ruling will presage the “fall of Western civilization.”

“I do not recall a time when the institutions of marriage and the family have faced such peril, or when the forces arrayed against them were more formidable or determined,” he writes in a letter distributed to his hundreds of thousands of supporters.

“Barring a miracle, the family that has existed since antiquity will likely crumble, presaging the fall of Western civilization itself. This is a time for concerted prayer, divine wisdom and greater courage than we have ever been called upon to exercise,” he writes.

Giving broadcast time and publishing space to bigoted hate-mongers hiding beneath clerical robes is more likely to cause a democratic civilization to crumble, than is how any one segment of the population expresses love for one another.

Oh yes. We’ve had gay marriage for six years in Iowa and it’s been hell on earth. Just yesterday I had to fend off ten marriage proposals down at the 7 Eleven.

What Dobson fails to say is that adultery and divorce are the things in the heterosexual community that are the biggest threats. But, then, there goes most of his community.

They are all such drama queens who tend to overlook that they love to go outside of those marriage bonds (they love to forget that minor detail) starting with their preachers, how high is the divorce rate in this country? What’s the name of that used to be congressman who was tap dancing in a public bathroom stall while on his way home to his wife and family and I’m certain he was a regular church goer. ;o)

You are thinking of Larry Edwin “Wide Stance” Craig, former Republican U.S. Senator (1991–2009) and in the U.S. House, representing Idaho’s first district (1981–1991). Just another anti-gay Republican legislator caught in a gay sex scandal. I can well understand how you came to forget his name.

Equality will enrich and strengthn America, it will weaken the bigots, racists and homophibic theocrats.
