Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who burned a Koran in 2012 and attempted other Koran-burning demonstrations, says his life was threatened.

Jones, 63, told the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office that he was at the Fry Guys Gourmet Fries stand last Wednesday when an “unknown black male” approached the eatery’s front counter, according to a police report.

Based on an interview with Jones, a deputy reported that the man “stated that Terry should have never come to this county” and that “after work Terry would need his gun if he had one.”

…Jones opened the “Fry Guys” business several months ago, much to the alarm of mall management which was unaware of his affiliation with the business. The presence of Jones, an al-Qaeda target, inside a mall filled with innocent shoppers appears a legitimate cause for concern.

Jones, who works the food counter with a gun in an ankle holster, has enraged followers of Islam by burning copies of the Koran and outfitting  children with t-shirts declaring “Islam is of the Devil.” He was at the top of an al-Qaeda hit list that appeared in 2013 in “Inspire,” the online magazine reportedly published by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Freedom of Speech is a great thing, but there are consequences for our actions. And this guy won’t be missed very much because of his actions.

I say let’s just wait and see if action is really taken against his life and ONLY then do something about it.

I don’t have a license to protect any longer and even if I did I’d be inclined to take that ‘slow walk’ to render aid.

Vigilante violence against free speech ( no matter how offensive ) is a consequence that is unacceptable.

I don’t want him killed. But I won’t weep for him should it happen.

I don’t condone death threats for anyone, but if Jones were no longer around, I would not feel badly.

I only hope they harass him like that everyday. Some complaints to mall management about his business would be nice too.

As I read on I kept thinking this sounds weird. Like everyone involved is kind of crazy. Then I realized we were talking about Florida. It all makes sense now.
