Someone should tell Jeb Bush that, as much as Apple helps us progress technologically, it doesn’t provide insurance.

I think we should repeal Obamacare if given the opportunity,” Bush said, “and replace it with a consumer-directed model where people are engaged in making healthier decisions for themselves and where they are given the tools to do so.”

He then pointed to his Apple Watch, the cheapest of which retails for $349, saying, “On this device, in five years, will be applications that will allow me to manage my healthcare in ways that, five years ago, were not even possible.” For example, the watch could alert him when he’s eaten more sugar than is safe for his diabetes.

“Ultimately, we have to get to a health system, away from a disease system,” he added. But while that is well and good for those who are generally healthy, what about those who aren’t?

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz had the best reply:

“Consumer directed model” = code words for returning everything to the private sector with their riders on pre existing conditions and ability to drop you whenever they want.

I think it shows that other than ranting about repeal, even the most mainstream of GOP candidates has no plan whatsoever to increase access to health insurance and care.

Anyway, seems to me that we already have a consumer-directed health insurance model which was approved twice by consumers. The consumers in question would be those who voted to elect and re-elect the President.

Wait a minute. Everyone would get an Apple Watch for their healthcare? If everyone has one….isn’t that universal healthcare?

Jeb is just following his mothers’ advice: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

Apple’s “watch could alert him when he’s eaten more sugar than is safe for his diabetes.” But ‘the ACA reduces federal deficits $1.5 T+’-CBO. Via 33 M buyers covered for Health Care in 2015! Even for a Bush, he’s an ignorant illiterate. Data-> http://acasignups.net/

Hey Jeb, maybe we can give everyone a medical tri-corder like they use on Star Trek …

It would be so cool if Steve Jobs would haunt this yutz from the grave.

Heck, I’d settle for Tim Cook denouncing this clown and demanding that he surrender his Apple Watch. Tech is wasted on the ignorant.

does jeb know how to read a watch?

    • fahvel May 16th, 2015 at 4:04 am

not while suffering from diabetes. His watch said he was slow on the uptake so he bought tennis shoes disguised as loafers which looked like old cowboy boots – then off he went into the sunset when “the clock stopped, never more to run when the old man died.”
