It was never a problem when the Bushes made money, or the Cheneys, even though they made theirs by war profiteering. The right never criticized Mitt Romney for making money by corporate raiding, putting people out of work and storing his money in offshore accounts. But the Clintons are held to a different standard by the right, even though their money came via speeches and a foundation that does charitable work around the world. It reeks of jealousy, and is extremely hypocritical, given that Republicans are the party of the rich.

Good for the Clintons, who never made more than five figures before attaining the White House, for using the post-presidency for good in the world. Good for them for doing what Republicans tout: benefiting from capitalism. How did they make $25 million giving speeches? The free market that conservatives celebrate, that’s how.

Heads are exploding:

    It isn’t about whether or not you are wealthy and powerful.
    It’s about whether or not you use your wealth and power to influence public policy so that you and your fellow 1%ers become even wealthier and more powerful at the expense of the rest of the American people.

      Which is something the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation don’t seem to be keen on – unlike, say, Sheldon Adelson, the Wyly brothers, T. Boone Pickens, Donald Trump, or the Koch brothers.

    The Clintons are better and more successful capitalists than 99.999999% of their haters. That’s just gotta hurt free market righties.

      But it’s the left that always comes out against free markets with their desire for total top down government control and it is only through cronyism and coercion that the left and especially the Clintons can make their money. And the left never wants to band together and use their own monies for their particular social desires, they always seek to force everyone through the law via more taxes to participate in their schemes.

        So….?
        No proof, no link, no intelligent debate, just more right wing radio regurgitation.
        It must be difficult being you.
        BTW, I had some spare time and I did some checking.
        You want to know the difference between the Charity known as The Clinton foundation, and the Charity known as the Barbara Bush children’s hospital?
        The Clinton foundation lists their donors.
        Ohhhh, can you just smell that delicious scandal?
        Smell like the biscuits and gravy at the flying J, doesn’t it?

        More accurately;
        But it’s the Right that always comes out against well regulated free markets with their desire for total top down corporate control and it is only through cronyism and coercion that the Right and especially the new Randian right can make their money. And the Right never wants to band together and use their own monies for their particular social desires, they always seek to force everyone through the law via more taxes to participate in their schemes. They just don’t acknowledge it.

    It is also about whether you took what rightfully belonged to the American people by law to make your money. I think someone needs to ask why America’s USGS listed 88 million acres of public lands in the West as wild horse and burro land, and by the time the late Senator Robert C. Byrd sponsored the Restore Our American Mustangs Act in the Senate in 2009, there were only 35 million acres. Losing 20 million acres is one thing, but losing 53 million acres without Congressional action. . .The horse ancestors and horse first showed up about 55 to 60 million years ago back when N.America and Europe had begun rifting apart. Except for a few thousand years here and there, the horse a browsing then grazing herbivore spent almost all that time in North America and migrated to South America and Eurasion across land bridges as they appeared but always returned. Anyway think about it. Every plant or animal that ever living is made of carbon. When you cover all that carbon with more than 16 different glacial periods in which there is more warming and more plants and animals, you get a lot of land that is filled with carbon based products. And it isn’t like the Clinton’s weren’t interested in the oil. They sold the U.S. Naval Reserves to the company that made the Gore family wealthy, Occidental Petroleum. The stock shot way up afterwards. Al Gore was the executor of his father’s estate, so he was not a disinterested party—he had some, uh, expenses.
