That’s because the states, the red ones, that didn’t participate, will lose federal funding and its citizens will lose coverage according to a new study by the Urban Institute and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. And guess who will have to fix and and who will get the blame?
“The report estimates that in the event of such a ruling, the 20 states that did not set up their own exchange or expand their Medicaid programs under the Affordable Care Act would lose an estimated $721 billion in federal funding over the next decade. The study said these 20 states would lose $41 billion in federal spending in 2016 for not expanding Medicaid, and another $21 billion would be lost if the federal subsidies stop flowing.”
“States that have not expanded Medicaid have the most to lose in the King v. Burwell decision if they are not already running their own marketplaces because people with incomes between 100 and 138 percent of the federal poverty level would not get any assistance in affording healthcare,’ the study said.”

The government does not own all the major industries and nobody advocated that, not even actual real socialists, except for those things that can not be in the private, for profit realm, like the military , roads, ports, etc.
Nor do liberals advocate for the corporate socialism that so many on the right do , where they socialize the risks and losses and privatize the profits.

I don’t understand why the Republicans would be upset. Isn’t this what they want? Of course, they wouldn’t phrase it like that. Instead of thousands of people losing their health insurance, they would probably say it gives poor people the incentive to stop sitting at home, overcome their disabilities and illnesses and pick themselves up by their bootstraps to find the well paying jobs that abound in our society; especially the children and elderly who are mooching off the system at the expense of the downtrodden hedge fund managers and country club kids. If they can afford insurance, why can’t the less ‘well to do’?
