wacoYou’d almost get the feeling that there are two different Americas, divided along ethnic lines – one in which white suspects in a multiple homicide are shown deference, while black protesters get tear gassed:

The deadly gun battle among several factions of biker gangs in Waco, Texas has social media users questioning the civility of its police intervention in the wake of Baltimore and Ferguson’s uprisings.

“They’ve recovered at least 100 weapons,” Deray McKesson, a high-profile activist wrote on Twitter. “The (National) Guard would be mobilized now if, black.”

With photos showing detained members of the criminal motorcycle gangs plugging away at their phones as police calmly stand guard, activists are quick to point out the disparity of the situation.

Karoli at Crooks and Liars points out the painful truth about the cops and the media:

In Baltimore or Ferguson, police would have been dressed in riot gear with billy clubs after an event such as that. A curfew would have been imposed. The media would have been all over it. Fox News would trot out every conservative commentator they could to point fingers at those “thugs” who start senseless violence. We would hear about how the parents raised said thugs, and how they fritter away their welfare check on implements of thuggery.

It would go on for a minimum of a week, with Senators and Representatives rushing to the floor of their respective legislative body to decry the terrible thuggery going on in cities.

Police would tangle with said “thugs” while media stands by, aghast at the mayhem.

But this is Waco, and the so-called “biker gangs” are a bunch of white dudes on Harleys, so the media is treating them with the kid gloves they do not deserve.

“They’ve recovered at least 100 weapons,”
Which according to the right wing, ammo-sexual-gun loving mantra, should have made that bar one of the safest places in Texas.

    • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 9:14 am

the part that really gnaws at me, is the fact that the police did know in advance what was going to happen. no national guards were called in for assistance. no tear gas, no rubber bullets, nothing. when a planned march is going to occur to protest the violence from police against black men, they are in riot gear and tanks.

      • Hugh Everett May 18th, 2015 at 9:09 pm

There was no rioting in Waco, Texas….Unlike Baltimore…Unlike Ferguson. This was simply a shootout at the OK Corral. Texans have been enjoying these sportsmanlike activities since 1836.

        • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:14 pm

there was no murders committed either by the baltimore or ferguson protesters or rioters either. but, they knew there would be violence and possibly murder in waco.

    • Budda May 18th, 2015 at 9:28 am

Well, I guess according to the NRA and Texans they were all good guys, no bad guys present at all.

  2. Carla Akins May 18th, 2015 at 9:21 am

Why do they still have their phones, a means of communication to setup more violence and mayhem? WTF?

Uhmmm….just like in Baltimore, the cops were ordered to ‘stand down’…. The whole thing was over before the LEOs could get organized. It wasn’t an hour long protest. Geeez….

Not true. And nobody was killed in the Baltimore rioting.

But thanks for playing “stupid and factually flawed talking points”. Enjoy your parting gift: ridicule.

Plugging away at their phones? Why weren’t they laying face down with their hands zip tied behind their backs?

    • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:55 pm

Some were laying face down with their hands and feet zip tied. The cops detained every biker that came to the area, even those that showed up after the fight.

Texas is like the old west where guns are the norm and fat bearded white men are allowed to shoot up the place without consequences. Had they been black the carnage would have been massive as law enforcement would have “lowered the boom” on them…

    • tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 1:59 pm

It is getting worse, open carry may be made the law of the land.

muzz is such a inbred name. mom/sister daddy/grandpa gave you that?

  7. arc99 May 18th, 2015 at 11:27 am

I have been to a number of media sources to read the reports on this story. Funny thing is that not a single one of those reports raised any questions about how the inherent failings in white schools and/or the lack of values being taught in white families were contributing factors to this outburst of violence.

Crimes committed by violent black people are grounds for questioning the ethics, integrity and stablity of the entire community and culture. Crimes committed by violent white people are never questioned in the same manner.

Separate but equal is alive and well.

But you right wingers out there still wonder why no matter how many Allen Wests, Ben Carsons or Thomas Sowells you trout out, most blacks want nothing to do with conservatives? Time and time again you cannot help yourselves from providing a very clear illustration of the contempt you have for our community and then you wonder why we do not support the same political party as you?

Are you all really that clueless?

    • arc99 May 18th, 2015 at 11:34 am

Didn’t find any pundits blaming the Republican governor of Texas either…

    • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 1:11 pm

Really ?? You regressives live in a fact free zone . Check the stats on multiple bastards … fathered by different deadbeats … born to single mothers in the black community as compared to any other . As far as Carson & co and their lack of following in the black communities enslaved by their demonbat overseers …. result of the decades of “rely on your liberal massahs ” for handouts propaganda being drilled into their heads …. how’s that workin out in your socialist prisons in Chicago and Detroit comrade ????

      • arc99 May 18th, 2015 at 1:29 pm

than you for the excellent illustration of the ignorance which permeates conservative America confirming my point.

        sincerely,

So …. these prisons without bars rampant in murders and violent crimes werent the result of progressive slave masters policies ???

        • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 3:07 pm

you and your mom were of a different generation where values prevailed …. long before the demonbats fully implemented their open air prisons

wow, nothing like racism to stink up a place

          • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 7:33 pm

RACISM ? You regressives are the ones who created modern day slavery …. picking up where you left off in the 1700s … if pointing that out is racist then so be it you Trotskyite facist

        • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 7:31 pm

Comment removed ?? Really ?? typical of the facist left … like I stated before … you sir were raised in a time of civiiity , decency and faith in God long before the demonbats established their open air prisons in Chicago , Detroit etc …

        • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 3:03 pm

how much welfare did Bristol collect ?? how many ‘baby daddies’ ? What are the chances her kids will be carjacking you out your Prius ?

          • tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 3:41 pm

what are the chances that little foul mouthed bastard will get into drunken brawls, quite high.

          • muzz May 18th, 2015 at 7:27 pm

a THOUSAND times lower than those held in the demonbat hell holes you support

          • ohpaleasegivemeabreak May 18th, 2015 at 5:22 pm

Kids chances probably about the same as they were for their Uncle Trigger who had to either go to jail or join the Army.

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 8:41 pm

so a mother has to have more than one baby in order for all to be considered bastards? and what are the chances that he will grow up to be a sociopath/serial killer/animal abuser or serial rapist? more so likely than a car jacker. you know, privelege and all, thinking he’ll be able to get away with anything. look at afluenza boy. he got away with murdering 4 people and his parents aren’t even political figures.

      • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:52 pm

It’s amazing that both sides of this argument are idiotic

  8. bobby1122 May 18th, 2015 at 11:31 am

You can’t arrest the bikers for having a meeting of clubs – you can arrest them when they start shooting each other- no riot ensued after police who were fired on returned fire and killed the shooters.

  9. amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 11:32 am

    “Treated with kid gloves”?
There were 192 arrested. The reason there was no lockdown, or curfew is because the problem was handled.
Handled without need of the national guard, DPS was enough.

They had been monitoring the problem and were on scene, and ready when violence broke out.
    They did not stand down.

    http://abc7chicago.com/news/police-9-killed-after-fight-shooting-erupts-among-rival-biker-gangs-in-waco-texas/727558/
Swanton said police were aware in advance that at least three rival gangs would be gathering at the restaurant and at least 12 Waco officers in addition to state troopers were at the restaurant when the fight began.

When the shooting began in the restaurant and then continued outside, armed bikers were shot by officers, Swanton said, adding that the actions of law enforcement prevented further deaths. It was not known if any of the nine dead were killed by police officers.

    • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:50 am

they should have ended it before it started. how? by not letting them all gather to begin with. they knew what was going to happen and they did nothing to prevent it. period.

      • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 2:12 pm

        How do you do that?
        .
You can’t use stop and frisk, that’s profiling.
Do you arrest them for refusing to leave a public place when they at the time they are not breaking any laws?
The same could be said for inner city gatherings of youths, disperse them before they can cause trouble.
Problem is it’s illegal to punish someone for what they haven’t yet done.
Unless we have now “pre-crime” laws.
They did what was legal, including a closure of the business for seven days for public safety concerns.

        • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 2:31 pm

they knew they weren’t going there for afternoon tea.

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 2:46 pm

But can you arrest them, or restrict their movements on suspicion they are going to commit a crime?
If that was done in a Chicago or Baltimore inner city neighborhood there would be howls of profiling, and violation of rights, and rightfully so.
            .
In other news of it the city has revoked the business license of the restaurant.
            http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Twin-Peaks-Responds-To-Deadly-Violence-In-Waco-304066231.html

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 7:19 pm

nope. just like they can’t arrest the more than 100 young black men, women and children when they’ve done nothing. they just shoot ’em. in this case they knew there was going to be a fight. and they knew fist weren’t going to be flying but bullets and they let it happen anyway.

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 7:41 pm

Those bikers were there for a peace conference according to local sources.
Didn’t quite work out that way.

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 7:47 pm

            and you buy that?
edit to say: a peace conference with guns and knives.

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 10:11 pm

Referencing local news sources, don’t think I mentioned anything on the validity of source or my thoughts on it.
Saw another that referred to it as recruiting.
Also mentioned in the article was the fact that when the police asked the owner to let them in before there was trouble, he said no. And a court order would have been required for them to gain legal entrance.
            .
So were they supposed to go in there guns drawn and frisk everyone?
There were civilians in there that could have been put at risk.
            .
Question, if you think that it is OK for the police to go in there because they know they are going to cause trouble is it OK to do the same in inner city neighborhoods?
If stop and frisk would be OK here why was it bad in NYC?
Both groups had the reputation, and rap sheets that showed they were trouble.

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:00 pm

“Also mentioned in the article was the fact that when the police asked the owner to let them in before there was trouble, he said no. And a court order would have been required for them to gain legal entrance.” what does that tell you? it tells you they knew enough that they should have gotten a warrant right?

“So were they supposed to go in there guns drawn and frisk everyone? There were civilians in there that could have been put at risk.” hell, they do that to black males all the time, but instead of frisking them they shoot or beat them to death first. that at least would have been the humane thing to do considering they knew they weren’t there for a friendly chat.

“Question, if you think that it is OK for the police to go in there because they know they are going to cause trouble is it OK to do the same in inner city neighborhoods?” they go into the inner city neighborhoods when people are just standing on the damn corner or walking across the street and fk’n shoot them. even those that have never had a criminal record. even children.

          • Matthew Harris May 19th, 2015 at 12:18 am

Here’s the problem with your logic: You’re acting as if the same officers that have gunned down “innocent” people in the streets are the same ones working in Waco, Tx. Not all police officers are the same, you’re actually referencing the very few who aren’t worth the air they breathe. What you’re saying is that shooting down inner city citizens for no reason is wrong, but since there are a few disgusting officers that have done it then the ones in Waco should just shoot down people who have yet to commit a crime? Your logic baffles me! You seem to be against police brutality and yet you are condoning it here. Pick a side, or better yet, stop commenting.
Also, do us all a favor and stop believing everything you hear from the media, think and determine what is fact from opinion for yourself.

          • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 12:38 am

how in the heII am i condoning police brutality? if this had been a black or hispanic gang, you would be the first to say, this is why no one trust black males or hispanic males, look at how they all act. its ok for you to lump all minorites together based upon a few fk ups, but you’ll be damned if anyone lumps police officers together. and that “stop believing” do you think the negative pointed at the young men, women and children murdered at the hands of the police to be true? i know you do, so don’t lie.

          • tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 11:06 pm

This was not the first time, you used innuendo not facts to defend the situation, because they are white

          • amongoose May 19th, 2015 at 6:57 am

Please, once again, explain what these innuendo’s are.
How am I “defending” the situation?
If your going to make accusations, back them up.

          • tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 11:06 pm

that is a lie, the restaurant held biker nights to draw money. 5 gangs were there, two were recruiting inside and the tension has caused violence at every “bikers nite” that was sponsored by the business.

          • amongoose May 19th, 2015 at 7:07 am

I see you did some digging and found what I mentioned a post or so earlier on the recruitment.

The problem I have is that some here are advocating actions that they think should have been taken against these bikers that would not be condoned were they applied to others.

Are they idiots and azzholes, absolutely, but what you consider offenses of civil rights of some have apply to all or those rights mean nothing.

          • tracey marie May 19th, 2015 at 12:04 pm

Nope, you implied something all together diffrent

          • amongoose May 19th, 2015 at 12:47 pm

Once again, an accusation with no back up.
It has been an interesting and informative discussion.
            Thank you,
            have a good day.
            Later

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 10:16 pm

You do realize that whites are killed more often than blacks by police even though they account for fewer crimes by percentage of population.
And just how did they know it would be a gunfight?

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 10:48 pm

are white killed more often than blacks because they deserved it? more likely than not. i have tried to find out, how many white males have been shot/murdered/beaten down like a dog in the street, while unarmed, and i found 1. which tells me, they were a real threat to the police officers. now, to answer your second question, they said they knew they were going to meet and they are rival gangs and they knew others were coming from cali, how in the heII do you think they knew to be there beforehand? this was a planned shootout, if i’m not mistaken a week or 2 before.

        • rat618 May 18th, 2015 at 2:45 pm

Curfews are used all the time in non white situations to supposedly prevent future crimes.

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 3:10 pm

When have they been used other than after something has happened?

          • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:50 pm

Oh? And when the “situations” happened the curfews were put into place after the situation started. Was there any need for one in Waco when all the bikers were arrested and in custody?

    • tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 1:57 pm

You are now making excuses to deflect from how the cops kill innocents and allow thugs to start a war on our streets. The restaurant is known to allow them to gather and cause problems.

      • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 2:18 pm

Excuses? Where? What did I say that supports that theory?
Should that be applied to the streets of Chicago? They know who the trouble makers, drug dealers, and criminals are, should they just round them up so the can’t commit a crime?

        • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 2:40 pm

this was a crime they knew was about to happen. 9 people dead. just lucky no innocent bystanders were murdered because the police just sat back and did dik.

          • amongoose May 18th, 2015 at 4:56 pm

Apply that logic to an inner city group of youths and you would be called a racist.
            .
Read a few of the local stories on it.
The police opened fire on them.
            That ain’t exactly doing dik.

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 7:16 pm

they opened fire when shots started being fired! what in the fk sense did that make to wait until it started? and how many inner city “gangs” black, white or hispanic or whatever, made a date to go gun ho on each other and the cops knew about it and just waited until the fighting started? i’ve got until midnight.

          • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:48 pm

The bikers didn’t make a date to go to war, One broke out during their gathering.

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:11 pm

you think rival gangs, notorious for murder, drugs, weapons and etc., weren’t going there to make war? then you’re delusional. if it wasn’t such a big deal, then why were the cops there to begin with?

          • Matthew Harris May 19th, 2015 at 12:08 am

The fact that you ask that question means you have no idea what is actually going on. There are rising tensions between two of the gangs involved. The Police knew things were getting heated between them and were trying to avoid the situation as best they could, however they can’t just go in and arrest 200 people because they think they’re bad people… To be clear none of this was supposed to happen. The gangs weren’t there to fight, that WAS supposed to happen later on, but not yesterday. This was supposed to be civil, but of course you throw alcohol in to the mix and all bets are off. Take it from someone who is in Waco and was literally on the other side of the parking lot shared by Twin Peaks: Waco PD did the best they could in the least amount of time necessary.

          • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 12:21 am

hahahahahahahaha! you: “The gangs weren’t there to fight, that WAS supposed to happen later on, but not yesterday.” nuff said.

          • William May 19th, 2015 at 1:11 am

why can’t you use the term “thugs?”

      • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:46 pm

Oh so you would support arresting them before they do anything wrong? Do you also support doing that in Baltimore and Ferguson?

    • dave-dr-gonzo May 18th, 2015 at 5:48 pm

There IS the equivalent of a lockdown, with many nearby businesses CLOSED today and very possibly tomorrow.

They were locked and loaded, waiting for them.
Bikers have been charged with capitol murder, so they could face the Death Penalty.

      • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 12:28 am

they were not fk’n bikers… they were fk’n THUGS. or is that too difficult to digest?

  10. Jack E Raynbeau May 18th, 2015 at 1:03 pm

There should have only been one arrest. The first fool that threw a punch. The rest were just standing their ground. /s

  11. craig7120 May 18th, 2015 at 1:20 pm

9 people dead, horrible display of violence
These weekend bikers are giving real bikers, dentists, teachers, plumbers etc…a bad name.

  12. tracey marie May 18th, 2015 at 1:55 pm

It get’s worse, this reastaurant is a franchise that encourages and almost hosts these gatherings of gangs. The cops knew this was coming, they were there waiting for trouble with minimal backup, no riot gear of counter measures to stop the 3 gangs known to be extremely violent from having a gun fight. After the shooting stopped more gang members showed up and were peacefully arrested by the cops. Sickening how real thugs are treated with kid gloves and average citizens are treated as thugs.

    • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:44 pm

Treated with kid gloves/ The cops fired live rounds at them. After that the biker/thugs gave up pretty quickly.

      • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 9:55 pm

they shouldn’t have waited until gun fire fool. they should have nipped it in the bud before anyone was firing off a weapon and 9 people died. it could have been innocent people caught in the damn crossfire. then the police dept. would have a hell of a lot of explaining to do when they get sued for knowing before hand what was going to happen. don’t you see the stupidity in all of this?

        • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 10:02 pm

And just how long did you think the entire exchange lasted? So now you expect police to act before the law is broken, As it was the police response at Waco was in under a minute of when the fight broke out,

          • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:02 pm

long enough for 9 people and dozens of others to be murdered or injured. the police act all the time when no laws are being broken, ask the many of black males and black women who were murder when committing no crime or those who have no criminal records. oh wait you can’t.

          • Matthew Harris May 19th, 2015 at 12:00 am

Hey, your ignorance is showing… Seriously though, just because you read a couple of articles written by people who don’t care about the integrity of their articles doesn’t mean you’re qualified to even comment on the situation. The police contacted Twin Peaks management who decided not to turn the groups away, so the police showed up just in case. As someone in Waco and who has information coming straight from these groups this was not supposed to happen. It wasn’t planned violence. There were tensions between the groups and when a confrontation happened it spiraled out of control.

Let me ask what the officers were supposed to do? Were they supposed to go in guns blazing in to a public establishment? Were they supposed to tear gas an entire restaurant before anything started in order to prevent something that might not have actually happened? How many lawsuits would that have started and how much more negative media presence would that have brought Waco? They did the best they could and look what happened: 9 of the BIKERS are dead and over 200 at this point have been arrested. Let me reiterate for a second. NO INNOCENT BYSTANDER WAS WOUNDED IN THE ALTERCATION!

I may not be a fan of our law enforcement system sometimes, but Waco PD took control of this situation the best that they possibly could have. I was working literally right across the parking lot from Twin Peaks and we saw the whole thing unwind from our front door. I for one am glad they did what they did, because had they not it would have been way too easy for the violence to spread and could have spilled over in to my place of work.

          • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 12:07 am

“It wasn’t planned violence. There were tensions between the groups and when a confrontation happened it spiraled out of control.” translation: planned violence.

          • Matthew Harris May 19th, 2015 at 12:28 am

Again, you’re being ignorant. Let me translate for that condition.

THEY HAD PLANNED ON THIS BEING A PEACEFUL MEETING.

TENSIONS WERE RISING BETWEEN TWO OF THE GANGS BUT THEY WERE PLANNING ON DEALING WITH THAT AND CAUSING PROBLEMS IN THE WEEKS TO COME, NOT YESTERDAY.

TWO GUYS IN THE RESTAURANT GOT INTO IT OVER SOMETHING STUPID AND THE THING SPIRALED OUT OF CONTROL. THIS WASN’T SOMETHING THAT STARTED BETWEEN THE GROUPS AS A WHOLE, IT WAS TWO INDIVIDUALS BEING STUPID THEN THE REST OF THEM JOINING IN LIKE IDIOTS.

THIS WAS NOT PLANNED, THE POLICE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE THIS WAS GOING TO
HAPPEN. THEY WERE THERE AS A PREVENTATIVE AND DID THEIR JOBS THE BEST
            THEY COULD.

          • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 12:32 am

let me translate your rant: they were there to kill each other, just not on that DAY! and because someone got pi&&y, they decided to do what most peace makers do… start shooting. wow, what in the heII would have happened if they didn’t bring guns and knives to this “peaceful” meeting? i don’t know, what, TALK!

  13. rat618 May 18th, 2015 at 2:47 pm

Still waiting for my Governor to call out the Texas Bubba Guard…oh wait that’s right they are camped out waiting for the US military. Not hard to imagine a few of these bikers might even be in the Texas Bubba Guard after all one of the benefits is free hunting and fishing licenses.

    • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:43 pm

Have there been any further outbreaks of violence in Waco? Nightly riots and gunfights? No? So why would your gov call out the national guard. Anyways he needs to keep them free to defend Texas against the US 🙂

170 arrests. If that many rioters and looters had been arested in Ferguson or Baltimore liberals would still be whining an octave aove high C.

    • dave-dr-gonzo May 18th, 2015 at 5:46 pm

Excuse me, Douchepoop. Were there 9 capital murders in Ferguson? Or Baltimore?

I would say there’s a strong argument that there was ONE capital murder in each case, committed by a cop.

So using your logic, the Ferguson and Baltimore PDs should have been arrested en masse.

And THAT I would fully support!

Ever feel like you’re having a Wile E. Coyote moment, Douchepoop?

      • dieselpop1 May 18th, 2015 at 6:11 pm

So it’s politically correct to arrest only killers? Skip your meds this morning didja?

        • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 8:36 pm

did you slip a massive dose of stupid in your coffee this morning? ’cause it doesn’t seem to be wearing off. how many rioters were committing murder? NONE.

          • dieselpop1 May 18th, 2015 at 9:16 pm

So the dead black guy was killed by aliens? He wasn’t where the police were.

    • paul123454321 May 18th, 2015 at 9:40 pm

Yup nearly every biker involved was arrested and jailed. These comparrisons are just race baiting nonsense. Is there racism in America? no doubt there is. Are there people trying to make things worse by creating false claims of racism about events? Yes that is also true.

      • dieselpop1 May 18th, 2015 at 9:55 pm

But race baiting pays better than welfare.

        • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:48 pm

cause white people ain’t on welfare.

      • whatthe46 May 18th, 2015 at 11:48 pm

as well they should have been for shooting and stabbing and murdering people. did any of the protesters shoot or murder anyone? NOPE! but the cops were in combat at gear and no one was armed.

    • greenfloyd May 19th, 2015 at 5:26 am

      As well we should!

But this shoot-out was not a political event, not civil disobedience and certainly not peaceful protesters attacked by cops.

      • dieselpop1 May 19th, 2015 at 10:03 pm

Peaceful? If someone threw his crap at me I’d shoot him. However karma is about to catch up with the “peaceful” demonstrators. The agitators hired by ACORNS’ subsidiary didn’t get the money they were promised and they’re threatening to cause problems.

        • greenfloyd May 19th, 2015 at 10:38 pm

          Yeah! Peaceful!

I reckon you get a lot of “crap” thrown at you and you know about karma?! What goes around, comes around…

“You’re Being Watched”: Edward Snowden 23:52

    http://www.democracynow.org/2013/6/10/youre_being_watched_edward_snowden_emerges

    Glenn Greenwald ask Edward Snowden
“Why should people care about surveillance?”

Because even if you’re not doing anything wrong, you’re being watched and recorded.

And the storage capability of these systems increases every year—
    consistently by orders of magnitude—
to where it’s getting to the point you don’t have to have done anything wrong.

You simply have to eventually fall under
suspicion from somebody—even by a wrong call.

And then they can use the system to go back
in time and scrutinize every decision you’ve ever made,
every friend you’ve ever discussed something with,
and attack you on that basis,

to sort of derive suspicion from an innocent life and
paint anyone in the context of a wrong-doer.

  17. zerowolfe May 18th, 2015 at 11:36 pm

truth hurts doesn’t it. they were, it’s a fact, and that’s that. now question to you. what do you call these white men who planned a week or two ahead of time to meet and fight? good old white boys doing what good old white boys do? no harm no foul?

  18. Foundryman May 19th, 2015 at 12:44 am

This wouldn’t be Louie Gohmerts district by any chance would it?

  19. greenfloyd May 19th, 2015 at 2:16 am

The cops knew something was up, discouraged the bar from hosting the event or whatever it was supposed to be. But I don’t think race had anything to do with how the cops acted. Comparing Ferguson vs the people, to the ‘Twin Peaks’ shoot-out the cops put down, is apples to oranges, silly. What may be the real-world connection here, is how culturally diverse, perverse and pervasive the under-ground economy has truly become in America, 2015-?

    • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 2:35 am

that’s what people say when they can’t stand the facts that bitch slaps them in the face.

      • greenfloyd May 19th, 2015 at 3:42 am

What “facts” are you referring to?

Is it the fact millions of Americans rely on drug money to some extent or another? President Obama recognizes it, then shrugs with a sigh of resignation.

Or are you disappointed more people didn’t get killed or injured?

        • whatthe46 May 19th, 2015 at 4:04 am

“But I don’t think race had anything to do with how the cops acted.” do you think if the cops knew in advance that the bloods and crips were planning to meet for a fight, that they’d just sit back and not call in the national guard? they wouldn’t have gotten pass the border without being tailed. and that would have been a good thing. black people can’t even hold a civil protest without being intimidated by police in riot gear. and they aren’t even armed. you wanna know who relies on drug money, its the ones that own mansions. do you think for one moment some guy in the trailer park or project is making a mint? do you think they own charter boats or airplanes? what proof do you have about the president not giving a damn? ’cause that’s what you meant. now am i disappointed more people didn’t get killed? no. and that makes you silly. but its a fact that there is a very visible difference in how the different groups were treated. even after the gun fire had ended, they were allowed to use cell phones, mingle, blah blah blah. no one was gased, tased, etc. etc. how many protesters shot at the police or murdered anyone? ZERO. a full army to face protesters for a cause, and a few cops to face thugs they knew to be dangerous.

          • greenfloyd May 19th, 2015 at 9:53 am

You suggested I was “bitch slapped” by “facts” that I can’t stand, I still don’t know what you are getting at.

          • Wee Mousie May 23rd, 2015 at 2:48 pm

That is the problem you must struggle with to learn the answer, since you won’t accept it when it is offered to you by anyone else.

          • greenfloyd May 23rd, 2015 at 11:07 pm

From what I gather you and whatthe46 think the cops were racists because they didn’t escalate the conflict after the initial shoot-out? Waco cops may be racists, I don’t know, although it seems irrelevant to this particular incident.

I am more concerned about the big-picture. The obvious proliferation of violent, lawless Gangster-culture, be it white, black, brown or purple with pink polka-dots…

          • Wee Mousie May 24th, 2015 at 12:17 am

The pathology of the rich white family is the most dangerous pathology in America.
The rich white family is cursed with too much money and privilege.
It is devoid of empathy, the result of lifetimes of entitlement.
It has little sense of loyalty and lacks the capacity for self-sacrifice.
Its definition of friendship is reduced to “What can you do for me?”
