Yahoo Money’ The Daily Ticker is reporting that is has discovered a Reuters investigation that reveals $8.5 trillion – that’s trillion with a “T” – in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996 that has never been accounted for. You read that right. While Republican politicians rush to slash food stamps for…

Over at FOX news, the first order of business is to figure out how to blame this on President Obama, even though the problems apparently started 13 years before he was sworn in.

C’mon FOX, I know you can do it!

    • Dwendt44 June 2nd, 2015 at 12:13 pm

No they can’t. The marching orders are dictated by Roger Ailes and they must be obeyed. You get canned at FakeNews were do you go? When the bottom of the barrel kicks you out, who’s going to hire you?

      • Larry Schmitt June 2nd, 2015 at 1:20 pm

Glenn Beck got his own internet show. So did Palin. Ah, the internet, where everybody knows your name.

  2. oldfart June 2nd, 2015 at 11:39 am

The day before 9/11 there was a report of a billion dollars missing from the pentagon. That bit of news was kinda over looked the next day. The Pentagon is the largest sucking rat hole in the world. President Eisenhower was right all along.

    • Dwendt44 June 2nd, 2015 at 12:14 pm

IIRC, the military take over half of the budget every year.

    • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 12:36 pm

Eisenhower did not clue us in until he left office.

He was responsible for the biggest military build up of his time…and then he gave that speech. He was a holy roller asshole too.

      • oldfart June 2nd, 2015 at 1:10 pm

Yeah he was kinda busy with WW2 and the “bomb thingy”.
IMO he was the last decent republican president this country had.

        • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 1:27 pm

Nixon signed in OSHA and EPA.

IKE brought us “In god we trust” and added “under god” to the pledge.

Ike was the only president to be baptized while in office.

Ike was a looser and so was Nixon, but I will take Nixon.

          • oldfart June 2nd, 2015 at 2:05 pm

well, we agree one thing then, Nixon was a loser.

          • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 2:28 pm

And don’t forget Ike did the highway system.

But I am not a IKE fan…but I hear he was a good golfer.

{Off topic} Do you know if Ike ever saw combat in his entire military career? I mean I know he was a great general, but did he ever see bullets fired his way? I know that Patton, Marshall, Montgomery, and even Hitler actually saw combat. Did IKE?

          • oldfart June 2nd, 2015 at 3:05 pm

Also off topic, he did establish the interstate system. as for his religious affiliations and signing the bills for our money and pledge, it was a much different time and he was republican after all… Only said he was decent, not perfect. My dad served in Great Brittan and was a lifelong democrat, voted for him, I still have his “I Like Ike” button. personally, i don’t think it matters if he was shot at or not.

          • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 3:58 pm

I’l give you 50 bucks for that button.

        • William June 2nd, 2015 at 1:32 pm

I’m not sure if you are generalizing about the cold war or what? The bomb was developed under Roosevelt, and ordered dropped by Truman who wasn’t even aware of the bombs existence until 12 days after Roosevelt died. Eisenhower was pretty much kept out of the loop because he was Supreme allied commander in Europe. Macarthur was briefed on the bomb, but not until just days before it was dropped. When Truman met with JCS to discuss the decision to drop the bomb, Eisenhower was not present.

          • oldfart June 2nd, 2015 at 1:47 pm

Cold war, “keeping up with the jones’s” had to have been a real bitch.

just folded up, quietly waiting there for you. check everything before donating to goodwill. or change your mind about that because the universe has sent you a clear signal.

How did you know where it was? NSAer!

          • fredoandme June 3rd, 2015 at 10:53 am

i was checking to see if i had left the batteries in. i hadn’t.
can’t, for the very life of me, say why the money was there, i can’t remember putting it there. i felt a nice rush of good vibrations just finding the radio in such nice shape after all that time. the money was icing.

  4. crc3 June 2nd, 2015 at 12:07 pm

IMO this is a criminal act and heads need to roll but as usual the culprits will slide through the cracks. In the meantime the MIC just rolls along unabated as more and more WMDs are designed and manufactured. Unfortunately since much of the world hates us we are going to need those weapons to try and defend ourselves. Eventually all of this will come back to bite us in the posterior because there is not much defense for stopping hundreds if not thousands of nuclear armed missiles (fired from China or Russia) striking the homeland and other strategic locations. Hope I’m not around to see it but don’t make a mistake in thinking it’s not going to happen…

    • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 12:43 pm

      But??? What about freedom?

      • crc3 June 2nd, 2015 at 1:53 pm

Freedom to do what? We’ve had our freedoms and where has it gotten us? Wars and more wars in the name of freedom or in the name of the wealthy war mongers? We are screwed regardless…

        • anothertoothpick June 2nd, 2015 at 2:09 pm

Freedom to kill the “others”? Maybe.

This country was established through genocide by white religious terrorists remember.

The violence that the white people brought on the natives was absolutely vile. And when all this killing was going on, the good white folks just turned their backs to it.

And when the natives fought back, the religious folks got even more violent.

Sorry…I am off topic here…but you see what I mean when I say “Freedom”

          • crc3 June 3rd, 2015 at 9:00 am

Yeah…I know what you mean and it makes me ill to think about it….

This just means it’s time to start another investigation into what happened at Benghazi. s

    • madjayhawk June 3rd, 2015 at 12:11 pm

Benghazi is an interesting place where a lot of things go on. What happened when our people there were murdered needs to be investigated. When you put the CIA and weapon, human, and drug smuggling in the same sentence we had better find out what actually was happening. Those weren’t ‘terrorists’ or ‘protesters’ who killed our people. Why did the administration try (and still is trying) to cover up what actually was happening there? To protect a CIA smuggling operation? Why was an ambassador in the drug/gun smuggling center of Libya that day? No matter who is president or SofS I think these questions need to be answered. We will probably never know because they (Congress and the administration) don’t want us to know what goes on in lawless places like Libya where weapons and drugs flow like water.

      • OldLefty June 3rd, 2015 at 2:08 pm

. What happened when our people there were murdered needs to be investigated.

        ______

It’s been investigated far more than Beirut ever was, and that was much worse.

Back then, it would have been considered obscene and unseemly to dance on the graves of dead Americans just to bring us the GOP/Fox News Bengha$i BamboozlePalooza Extravaganza!!!

There are so many of these agencies that have never been Audited it makes you wonder If “We the People” actually means anything beside “We the suckers”.

    • madjayhawk June 3rd, 2015 at 12:02 pm

The really big one that needs to be audited is the Federal Reserve. They are the ones enriching Wall Street and putting the country’s economy at risk.

    • Bunya June 2nd, 2015 at 2:00 pm

I’m not surprised. The government feels that, once it leaves the taxpayer’s checkbook, they can do anything with that money.

the liberal left wing media is apt to buy anything the GOPs say or do – hell look at the amount of drug monies made by using US Military Transport for Reagan’s crew – not to mention the Nuclear Arms for hostages going on at the same time.
        Nare a bit of ???

  12. K2 June 2nd, 2015 at 2:31 pm

That $566 billion is prob less than what they actually spent in 2012. DoD has provisions that allow them to spend over their budget for deployment pay, war technology, etc. which usually brings it up to the $700 billion range.

  13. Suzanne McFly June 2nd, 2015 at 3:16 pm

That is how the war machine is fed, we go to Iran and it will happen again and again. Our leaders happily turn a blind eye because the thieves are the same people who finance their campaign. U.S. Voters are the ones who are being stolen from, and it is essentially being done by the same people we vote into office. Bernie and Warren are a couple who have not been purchased yet and I hope they are strong enough to stay that way.

No, it’s the Pentagons fault…and Congress’ for not holding them accountable.

And, yet, I have to buy pencils and notebook paper for my students out of my own pocket.

And Republicans accuse us liberals of “throwing money” at education.

Common Core Indoctrination needs to be assigned higher priority.

I have three sisters who are or have been teachers, and they have had to do the same thing. It’s disgraceful that our school budgets don’t cover basic materials.

That sounds a little low… of course there will be no inquiry while Benghazi is on the front burner

I get upset if my books show a discrepancy of even a nickel. I’ll spend 12 or more hours, tracking that nickel down. I expect and DEMAND no less from my government.

It is not their money so why should they worry. If we really knew how much money our government wastes every day we would be lining people up to fire them or jail them.

But that will never happen. They all are union employees. Ever try to fire someone in a union? I worked in state government and I can tell you that most of the people in my unit came in at 9 and left at 3:30 and took a 1.5 hour lunch. Their morning breaks interfered with their lunch ‘hour’. They maxed out their sick leave in January and then ‘worked’ at home for the rest of the year. These were the people first in line for promotion. There are hardworking, honest government employees but none of worked where I did.

When I worked in industry if you were late a couple of times you were in danger of being fired. And God help you if took more than an hour for lunch. Everyone just followed the rules so there were no problems. No one ever got fired though. We were paid to work and we did.

        It has always been thus.

Meanwhile, what we pay in corporate welfare, not to mention the huge golden parachutes for people in corporate unions v labor unions.

The last time someone brought this up, we started a war in Iraq and Afghanistan to take focus off the Pentagon. Now that you’re bringing it up again, we will probably be heading to North Korea.
