The state trooper at the center of the Duggar scandal attempted suicide after being detained a second time on child pornography charges.

Joseph T. Hutchens is partially responsible for allowing Josh Duggar escape justice for molesting five young girls, including two of his sisters, because he declined to act when Jim Bob Duggar brought the molestation to his attention. Hutchens later claimed that Jim Bob only told him about one molestation incident, and if he had known about the others, he would have reported Josh.

On April 6, 2010 — seven years after his involvement with the Duggars — he was found “lying on the floor of [his] cell, covered in blood and in the fetal position.” He initially told medical personnel that he had fallen off his bunk, but prison officials later found a suicide note in which he quoted biblical verses about forgiveness.

“MY HEAVENLY FATHER, PLEASE FORGIVE ME!” he wrote at the bottom of the first page, after also imploring his daughters to forgive him and “remember the dad you used to know.”

Hutchens is currently serving a 56-year sentence on child pornography charges.

I wish the state of Arkansas could add 20 years to Hutchens’ sentence because he was a mandated reporter who didn’t do his job. He failed to protect Josh Duggars’ victims. There is no excuse for his failure to notify other authorities that JD was a self-confessed child molester. JD got off scot-free, and his victims were forced to continue living in the same house with him. Hutchens didn’t do his job because Jim Bob Duggar was seen as an influential person in their town and state. If this had been any other family, a kid would have been sent to juvenile detention for a number of years, but not the Duggars. What happened in this case reminds me of the old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”

The more you learn and is exposed about the Duggards, a more sick and perverted duggard social network becomes clear.
