Football Coach Infuriated By Colbert Joke At Commencement

Stephen Colbert did a joke about the bad win-loss record of Wake Forest’s football team, and coach Dave Clawson is so upset he won’t want Colbert’s new show.
“This is a school that respects tradition,” Colbert said during his speech. “Traditions like rolling the quad with toilet paper after big wins. And this is actually an eco-friendly tradition because, looking at this season’s win-loss record, you guys saved a lot of paper.”
Colbert did follow that up with, “Let me win you back: Duke sucks.” But that apparently was not enough to appease Clawson, whose first head coaching job was at Fordham.
Indeed, Wake Forest went just 3-9 last year in Clawson’s first season, finishing tied for last in the ACC Atlantic division. But Clawson still felt it was an unnecessary dig at his program.

If only he was able to lead the team into also not watching Mr Colbert. But apparently he isn’t good at leading his team.
What a frickin whiner. But to be clear, there is nothing I care about less than professional sports, except college sports.

There’s a lot of money spent in colleges for sports from broadcasters and advertisers…..not so much for academics. Got to keep the gravy train rolling and avoiding criticism enables that.

Get a life. I can’t remember Wake Forest ever being good at anything, so you’re just following in a long standing tradition, it’s not personal.
