If Noah could live to be 600, why should we worry about retirement reasons Greg Gianforte.

Speaking at the Montana Bible College in February, Gianforte told students, “There’s nothing in the Bible that talks about retirement. And yet it’s been an accepted concept in our culture today. Nowhere does it say, ‘Well, he was a good and faithful servant, so he went to the beach.’ It doesn’t say that anywhere….

“The example I think of is Noah,” Gianforte continued. “How old was Noah when he built the Ark? 600. He wasn’t like, cashing Social Security checks. He wasn’t hanging out; he was working. So, I think we have an obligation to work. The role we have in work may change over time, but the concept of retirement is not biblical.”

Wonder how he disposed of all the animal crap on the ark?

    • katkelly57 June 13th, 2015 at 12:46 am

That took him another 600 years to clean.

    • alpacadaddy June 13th, 2015 at 1:55 pm

Why he piled it into the shape of a bloated humanoid and named it Cheney of course!

    • rg9rts June 13th, 2015 at 4:10 pm

Put it into the congressional trough

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 9:09 pm

He must have been a Republican. He just dumped it over the side of the boat and polluted the ocean.

  3. robert June 13th, 2015 at 12:06 am

now you know why the ss age keeps going up

    • johnnybizzoy June 13th, 2015 at 4:03 am

I think house Democrats circa 1983 might have had something to do with that 😉

      • Larry Schmitt June 13th, 2015 at 7:49 am

I think he was making a joke. But the higher retirement age was inevitable, to prevent the fund from going broke sooner that it will if other measures aren’t taken.

        • Dwendt44 June 13th, 2015 at 12:45 pm

Especially since Republicans keep blocking, filibustering and voting down any real improvements that would insure SS for very long into the future.

        • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 9:03 pm

All of dem dare folks that are a wantin to raise the retirement age never did a days worth of physical labor in their entire lives. It only took 45 years for me to destroy my body with hard work.

      • rg9rts June 13th, 2015 at 4:09 pm

        Led by Saint Ronnie

        • johnnybizzoy June 13th, 2015 at 5:04 pm

Ronald Reagan was the leader of the House Democrats? He really was the greatest President we’ve ever had!

            Can I have a hit???

      • robert June 13th, 2015 at 9:13 pm

guess who was president in 1983

        hint, it wasn’t a democrat

  4. Bunya June 13th, 2015 at 12:26 am

I think these “holy books” are so last year. If the republicans expect to win elections, they need to move into the 21st century. The new black is vampires and zombies. The way he’s gonna get the young vote is to say something like, “Zombies live forever, so retirement is not necessary”, or “Vampires have never collected SS, and we can achieve that same standard.”

I just had a Brain Pain. How come it was only men that lived so long in the Bible but no old ladies are mentioned. Too many wrinkles to keep them around I guess.

      • katkelly57 June 14th, 2015 at 11:53 pm

Don’t laugh. My Baptist preacher dad secretly believed this. Also that the whole Universe is an illusion; God is trying to ‘test our faith’by making it appear otherwise.

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:54 pm

If the world was flat back then, what kept the water from running off of the edge ?

        Magic.

  7. granpa.usthai June 13th, 2015 at 1:08 am

Noah didn’t have a social security number, therefore there is no account in his name. Besides not paying into the system, he never registered with the “Selective” Service or US Immigration. No license to operate an ark in open waters, transport of exotic animals without a permit. NO VENTILATION in a sealed overcrowded enclosure. FIRE HAZARD! a floating death trap if there ever was one.

    • whatthe46 June 13th, 2015 at 1:13 am

i.e., this parasite, he’s an asswipe!

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:53 pm

Back in Noah’s time there were NO government benefits because it was God’s world. It was the Democrats that started thinking about Old, Sick, and Helpless folks. Dang that compassion thing.

  8. bpollen June 13th, 2015 at 1:54 am

I wanna see the long-form birth certificate! Hey, Trump, sic your crack team of investigators on THIS question… obviously they ain’t found any smoking guns with Obama’s.

    • Larry Schmitt June 13th, 2015 at 7:51 am

At 600 years, it would be a really long form.

      • bpollen June 13th, 2015 at 10:05 pm

Papyrus comes in scrolls doesn’t it?

    • The Original Just Me June 14th, 2015 at 11:34 pm

He should have Palin head up the search committee.

  9. fahvel June 13th, 2015 at 2:21 am

he has a vague sort of maybe good point – trouble is most people to not fullfill their lives with pleasing activity so retirement is a light at the end of their “good job” life. Get paid for what you love to do and retirement can become an insult.

    • The Original Just Me June 14th, 2015 at 11:33 pm

Bordellos do have a built in retirement age thing. Yes they are legal in most of Nevada. But, I don’t know anything about them.

  10. Darksnark June 13th, 2015 at 3:38 am

    See now, Democrats?

If you don’t get off your asses and vote in EVERY single election, Bible-thumping nutcases like Greg Gianforte will end up in Congress and have the power to decide what happens to your retirement pension, Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Or perhaps you’d enjoy working until you’re 600 years old….

    • johnnybizzoy June 13th, 2015 at 3:59 am

you could just save your own money and stop working once you’ve saved enough. But that would require working at all, ever 🙂

      • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:48 pm

My platform for running for President is : We all retire at 18 and start to work at 65. It will be mandatory.

    • rg9rts June 13th, 2015 at 4:14 pm

The gopee learned a long time ago that the power is not in DC but rather in the state houses and use that platform to install their arcane conservative agenda ….vaginal probe??? Voter ID??? etc etc

      • The Original Just Me June 14th, 2015 at 11:29 pm

Is you all talking bout Idaho ?

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:46 pm

    • The Original Just Me June 14th, 2015 at 11:27 pm

That’s ten times longer than I made it.

  11. johnnybizzoy June 13th, 2015 at 4:02 am

Noah should have just gotten himself three or four baby daddies and then declared disability. Only suckers work at jobs for their money anymore.

  12. causeican June 13th, 2015 at 6:47 am

Noah wasn’t on the government payroll either.

I think Noah got life points for building and ark.

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:44 pm

Building AND ark. How do you ARK ? And what was it that he built and Arked ? Just having some fun, don’t get all tight in the digestive track on me.

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2015 at 8:40 pm

Try this on for a tight fitting pair of shorts. Genesis and Evolution are saying the same thing on a time line and order of procession basis.

      • Dwendt44 June 14th, 2015 at 6:24 pm

Except of course, one is science and the other mythology.

        • The Original Just Me June 14th, 2015 at 11:19 pm

This is true but, there is a very interesting aspect of Mythology. The Bible as we know it today was written some time before Darwin wrote his works. Now, if you study Greek mythology, Norseman ( Vikings ) Mythology, Eastern Mythology, and the Old Testament, many of the stories are virtually the same. Only the names and some other details differ. Now, with an open mind, all of these very early history supplements do coincide on many aspects with the Evolution story. One point is, that no matter where in the world you go, there is a history story of a Great Flood in their religious beliefs. Okay, so I am getting in here pretty deep but it is an interesting coincidence.

          • Dwendt44 June 15th, 2015 at 12:03 pm

Certainly there are similarities between many of the ancient myths form around the European and Asian continents. They borrow from each other. The bible is in many was, just copied from other older religions.
As far as the ‘flood’ fable goes, it all goes back to the flooding of the Black Sea. The indigenous population that was displaced by that flood spread out over much of Europe and the Middle East and carried the story of the flood with them, eventually wrapping it into the local myths and religions.
The imagined parallel between any of those old myths and Evolution is tenuous at best.

          • The Original Just Me June 15th, 2015 at 5:40 pm

You are probably right on the flood theory but the flood story has been found in many south American tribes and in the Southern Pacific tribes also. I just find it interesting that the progression of evolution follows very closely to the order in which Mr. God made the earth and placed the fish, animals ,and humans on it. I’m not trying to make up some new religion or anything. I just spend too much time thinking about things.

Definition of Savings. Give your hard earned money to someone else so they can play with it while you die early from hard work. Our short time broker told us that if we stayed in the Stock Market for 30 or 40 years we would be very RICH. I told him, that at 65 years old, we would be very, very dead in 30 or 40 years. That brief lesson in stock markets only cost us $15,000.
