VA GOP Wants To Eliminate Bodyguards For Governor Because He’s Pro Gun Control

Proving yet again just how deeply in the pocket of the National Rifle Association (NRA) the Republican Party truly is, GOP members of the Virginia General Assembly are proposing bills to completely eliminate all bodyguards or other forms of protection from Democratic Governor Terry McMcAuliffe simply because he happens to be in favor of sensible gun control in his state.

Republican State Senator Bill Carrico, who has introduced an amendment to the budget which would strip McAuliffe of his armed security detail, told the press this week:
A lot of the governor’s power is deferred to the General Assembly at that point and I’ll be getting with my colleagues to circumvent everything this governor has done on this point. I have a budget amendment that I’m looking at to take away his executive protection unit.
