Trump used charity money to buy $12,000 helmet signed by Tebow
Donald Drumpf took money from one of his charities for the purchase.
Drumpf bid on the item at a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, for the Susan G. Komen organization, as the Palm Beach Post detailed at the time.
However, the Susan G. Komen organization received payment for the helmet and jersey from the Donald J. Drumpf Foundation, not the real estate mogul himself. Drumpf was the foundation’s president, but he had not donated to the charity for three years preceding the purchase, according to the Post.
As the Washington Post noted, the astute businessman bought the signed items at the height of Tebow mania. Comparable items now sell for $415 online.
