Trump’s favorite general confronted on candidate’s foreign policy knowledge
Lt. General Michael Flynn ducked key questions about Trump’s understanding of foreign policy when questioned by Chuck Todd.
He confronted Flynn on whether Trump understands the importance of NATO, and Flynn bolstered Trump’s statements by saying NATO “needs to be modernized” and people need to pay their bills.
Todd asked if Trump threatening to withhold aid is “responsible.” Flynn did not directly answer the question.

On the issue of whether Trump is clear that Russia is a threat to the United States––not to mention what Todd called a perception of Trump’s “close relationship with Putin”––Flynn pointed to the Clinton Global Initiative’s Russia ties instead.
He declared that “Russia has an anti U.S. view of the world” which is not in our best interests.
