Trump Fires the Truth-Tellers
In a transparent cheap shot, Donald Trump has fired Col. Alexander Vindman, the career Pentagon official whose testimony about Oval Office corruption surrounding the withholding of military aid to the Ukraine riveted America during the impeachment hearings.
[Vindman’s a]ttorney David Pressman released a statement to news outlets saying his client had been escorted out of the White House Friday afternoon.
“He has spoken publicly once, and only pursuant to a subpoena from the United States Congress,” said Pressman.
“There is no question in the mind of any American why this man’s job is over, why this country now has one less soldier serving it at the White House. [Lt. Col.] Alexander Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth.” He added that Vindman had lost his “job, his career, and his privacy” for testifying before Congress.
A few hours later, Trump fired another official who had dared testify against the corrupt would-be dictator:
Gordon Sondland, the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union who testified during the House impeachment investigation, is out of a job, according to his attorney. Sondland’s exit comes the same day Alexander Vindman, a National Security Council official who also testified, was also ousted from his job.
Sondland’s departure comes more than two months after his stunning testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee, during which he refuted the characterization by others in the administration that he was freelancing when he pressed Ukraine for investigations into Democrats.
Instead, Sondland told the panel, senior players including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and Vice President Mike Pence knew about his attempt to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make a public commitment to investigate a conspiracy theory around 2016 election and the gas company Burisma.
Bet your bottom dollar Vindman and Sondland are not the only two people who will be n the receiving end of Trump’s wrath.
