Actress Amanda Bynes Involuntarily Hospitalized
The actress ha been placed on 5150 psychiatric hold.

Bynes just arrived in L.A. and went directly to a hospital outside L.A. … where doctors placed her on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
We’re told Amanda thought a car service was taking her to The London Hotel where her parents and their attorney were going to meet her. In fact the parents had made arrangements with the car service to take her to a Pasadena hospital instead … where their lawyer, Tamar Arminak, was waiting with doctors.
We’re told doctors placed her on a 5150 psychiatric hold, where she will be held for 72 hours. That hold can be extended for 14 days, and we’re told during that time there will be a move to get another conservatorship.[su_csky_ad]

If you had lost a friend with serious mental illness to suicide as I have, you’d care about this story. America’s “best in the world” health care system is a privatized, profit-off-the-sick joke – especially when it comes to mental illness, even when the victim comes from some means. If this nation were serious about mental health care, Ms. Bynes might well have gotten the care she likely needs long ago.

LiberalLand covers a range of topical subjects, hence the various categories across the top of the page. If you don’t want to read about Bynes – don’t. This is a topical relevant post, it’s not a piece about what she wore to a big party or a twitter war she’s having with another celebrity. Mental health issues are absolutely the concern of liberals I know and a public melt-down isn’t pretty but it opens a dialogue.

Such a talented young woman, truly struggling with a serious mental illness. I am not a huge Nick Cannon fan, but he has been a true friend to Bynes publicly calling for the jokes and mocking to stop. Kudos to him.
