    One of the main problems with the way elected officials in general and congress in particular is campaign money. The minute they are elected they start working on restocking their war-chest by doing the bidding of their current big money donors and finding new ones. That is why I support a constitutional amendment to take money out of elections (and while we’re at it to also make sure corporations are not people).

      To add to your suggestions, I’d like to go a bit further and ban all lobbyists from having any contact with members of legislative bodies in the US. No more free dinners, tickets to athletic events, sitting in sky-boxes, riding on private jets, etc. I’d also like to see a shorter campaign season of say, three to six months. Each candidate for public office would not be able to raise campaign funds until the campaign period started. In some nations, campaigns for public office run for weeks instead of years. Shortening the length of them would save us from having to listen to all of the useless BS we hear from candidates nowadays. I’d also like to see some uniform voting and anti-gerrymandering rules in place. I’m sick of individual states dicking around with Americans’ right to vote in ways that provide an advantage to their party. Let people vote, and whoever wins, wins.
