Dozens, perhaps as many as 100, flag waving protesters yelling “USA! USA!” clashed on Tuesday with buses full of detained undocumented immigrants who tried to make their way to a U.S. Border Patrol Station in Murrieta, California.  There were approximately 140 people who were flown into San Diego from Texas at 11:00 a.m. and bused to Murrieta around 2:20 p.m. When the protesters met with the undocumented immigrants, things turned very ugly as anti-immigration activists unleashed their fury, with one man spitting into the face of a man who opposed him.

In total, the protesters blocked three busloads of immigrant families who were being transferred.
Protesters

One woman screamed, “They have come so far, they’ve worked harder than you’ve ever worked, they’ve worked harder than you’ve ever worked in your whole life.”

According to CBS Los Angeles, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) buses eventually left Murrieta, apparently impeded by protesters, and headed southbound on the 15 Freeway. It was not immediately clear where they were going or whether they would return later.

During a town hall meeting on Monday, Mayor Alan Long assured concerned residents that the immigrants have no criminal backgrounds and that health screenings will be done.  According to CBS, some of them will likely be detained and could be outfitted with GPS tethers.

Even so, Long urged residents in the suburb populated with 107,000 people to call their elected officials and voice opposition to the plan.

“What we’ve been told is that most of these immigrants are families. These are mothers and young children, or fathers and young children,” Long said. “What will happen is once they’re processed by the border patrol they’ll be released to ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents who make sure they get to their destination or transportation hubs.”

According to USA Today, Border Patrol agents said the immigrant families were mostly made up of women and young children.

President Obama is looking at ways to secure the border by executive action.

Clearly, the protesters are acting in a manner that would make GOP Jesus proud.

I can remember when it was still possible to be proud of this country.

  2. abbyjo2001 July 1st, 2014 at 11:03 pm

We have sunk very, very low in this country. How awful these people are, to have no feeling for others.

  3. Obewon July 1st, 2014 at 11:34 pm

Mental HC screenings for deranged Tea Party flag waving nationalists now! The 89% White GOP is so xenophobic they’re afraid of our future hard working citizens & Voters! Interfering with ICE’s women & child immigrants having no criminal backgrounds on their way to health screenings. These TP loons don’t even know Spanish speaking Puerto Ricans are each U.S. Citizens at birth.

Who says no criminal background? You? Did you check each and every one yourself? Are you a public school graduate? Or did you graduate high school at all? Who are you? What are you doing here? Should we trace back your IP address and find you? We have 90 million American citizens out of work who would be happy to do the work. THEY are the backbone of this country, not you! Not illegals. Only citizens are needed here. We do not allow any citizen to shirk their duty to defend this country and uphold the laws. Did you know you can be personally prosecuted for your actions or inactions regarding illegals? Better stop posting for awhile until you stop breaking the law in your own life. Might be looking over your shoulder for Dog the Bounty Hunter!

At least half of the country has gone mad, crazy mad. Thirty years of hate filled radio, fox news propaganda and the internet filled with sites designed to incite hatred and violence this is what we end up with. Angry mobs attacking bus loads of children seeking assistance, a sad state of affairs. What’s next, another Rosewood Fla.???

BEYOND DISGUSTED W/THESE STUPID WHITE PEOPLE!

  8. Ron Jackson July 2nd, 2014 at 1:37 am

Once again we see that the right wing is all about mob rule. This is the tyranny of the minority, they know that their leaders within the party are to scared to ever speak out against hate and racism that comes from these right wing followers of Jesus.

These right wing racist all love to use the MLK quote of judging someone by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, well I’m Judging these right wing racist by the content of their character, and I see nothing but bitter white racist that can not handle the fact that America is changing and their view of America being for white christians only is being rejected, their agenda of white nationalism is being exposed daily.

They know that their party is growing older and dying off,and there is nothing they can do to grow their party past the south. With more and more people moving to these red states from blue states, means that over the course of time these red states will start to turn blue, because people will not all of a sudden change who they are or change their views just because they move to these red states,if anything with more liberals moving to and becoming involved in the politics of these red states means that these red states will start to see their states i.q jump up about 500 pts.

Xenophobes doing a sack dance in the face immigrants. How’s that ethnic outreach going, GOP?

    • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 3:22 pm

They are not immigrants – immigrants follow the law… These people are criminals…

      • Foundryman July 2nd, 2014 at 6:15 pm

No they’re not, a criminal is someone who harms someone or someone’s property while breaking the law. What these people are doing harms no one, it’s no more a crime than coasting through a stop sign, or going 60 in a 55 zone.
Now, let’s hear you say you’ve never broke a law…if so, you too are a criminal.

        • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 10:50 pm

What these people are doing harms everyone… They are using resources that they are not legally entitled to – jobs, schools, healthcare, food stamps, welfare, jail space, etc., which costs all of us… That’s theft and theft is a crime, which makes them criminals – so they should be treated as such…

    • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 3:24 pm

Does your Jesus expect people to obey the law, or not?

      • mea_mark July 2nd, 2014 at 5:36 pm

That depends on how corrupt and oppressive the law is and how much it hurts people. Jesus is not and never was into the unnecessary suffering at the hands of the rich.

        • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 9:25 pm

“how corrupt and oppressive the law is…” — Well, the law allows about a million people a year to immigrate legally… How is that oppressive? And what do rich people have to do with it?

          • mea_mark July 2nd, 2014 at 9:49 pm

IDK, why don’t you ask those that are suffering at their hands. Or are you afraid you might get sullied by the oppressed if you get to close to find out?

          • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 11:06 pm

I’ll bite, how are illegal immigrants being oppressed by the rich?

And really, do you think you make your point stronger with insults? Does putting people down make you feel bigger and more important? Psychology 101 says people do this because they feel insecure… Can’t we just have a polite conversation?

          • Um Cara July 2nd, 2014 at 11:14 pm

*I’ll bite, how are illegal immigrants being oppressed by the rich?*
            ————
substandard working conditions, low pay, intimidation using their undocumented status as leverage in general, etc.

            Surely you know this though?

          • Bob Cronos July 3rd, 2014 at 12:13 am

If it’s so terrible, why do they flock here? Perhaps instead, they should use the US as a model and transform their own country into an Oasis that people are willing to risk death to get to…

          • Um Cara July 3rd, 2014 at 8:10 am

Because it is worse in their country. And the US standard shouldn’t be ‘at least we treat the poor better than Honduras does’.

            Surely you know this though?

          • Bob Cronos July 4th, 2014 at 2:37 am

We treat the poor quite well here… Doesn’t mean that every poor person in the world is our responsibility though…

            Surely you know this though?

This article isn’t about every poor person in the world, Bob.

          • Bob Cronos July 5th, 2014 at 1:58 am

How many of rhe poor people in the world do you think we can afford to let come here – and how many of them are YOU willing to support directly with just YOUR money…?

          • Um Cara July 5th, 2014 at 6:50 am

            * and how many of them are YOU willing to support directly with just YOUR money…?*
            ————-
I pay quite a bit in taxes, I’m not sure exactly how many people I am ‘supporting directly’ – why do you ask? It’s kind of like asking ‘how much money do you make’ – not a very polite question.

Didn’t your mother teach you these things? Responsibility, politeness, etc… If not, I’m happy to help you to understand these simple concepts – after all, ‘it takes a village’.

  11. Pistol-Packing July 2nd, 2014 at 6:42 am

Not that I agree with chanting USA USA . But I do understand the frustration that is being expressed. The government is not sending a clear and precise message to stop the flow of Illegal immigration. Mexico is clearly a major problem with this. They are allowing their own borders to be breached to allow this flow of people.

    • R.J. Carter July 2nd, 2014 at 9:22 am

What’s more inhumane? Chanting in front of a bus, or sending little children over a border alone?

      • Bob Cronos July 3rd, 2014 at 12:32 am

What we have here is a failure to communicate! Don’t you know that every child a desperate, irresponsible mother tosses over your fence is now your responsibility? You incompassionate low life..

  12. Guest July 2nd, 2014 at 7:20 am

Every one of them had better keep going until that bus is over the border and dumping them off. They are all lost, we are just helping them reunite with their families. Only 42 million to go. Who is Daniel Quintana? This might be a fake name, he was trotted out on CSPAN today after attempting to unionize farm workers. He claimed to work 24 hours a day. He didn’t look too tired to me. How did he not sleep? He couldn’t even speak a word of English. Crying about his “rights” and “right to unemployment compensation”. His entire family had an employer provided house. Who among us gets that? Get on the bus muchacho. You outta here.

    And the Great Lady Cry’s

    The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset fates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

  17. Cosmic_Surfer July 2nd, 2014 at 9:46 am

    Republican Jesus my leftist ass.
    It’s American Jesus

This is America and America is xenophobic by design – has been since the WASPY landed gentry assured it at its inception.

Unfortunately, I get it. Murrieta is a tiny town by California standards. There is no comprehension of the matter other than a detention center thrown onto the community as nutjobs whine about FEMA camps and xenophobes screech about the Hispanic take-over (something that the media has been playing up for 30 years in SoCal – I wouldn’t be so quick to quote a thing from the local stations). The fear growing in a small SoCal desert community that is being played – The continued Balkanization of America acted out here and growing in the hearts and minds of your neighbors, co-workers, friends and family and better check yourself too.

We all fall prey to the paradigm of exceptionalism, “patriotism”, islamophobia, white supremacy, bigotry, pride, hubris – team spirit, competition in overdrive and roid rage self induced

The claim of “Republican Jesus” is just as xenophobic

    • Justin Volke V July 2nd, 2014 at 4:49 pm

American Jesus? Is this the same Jesus that is against abortion? Against adultery and pornography and the use of illegal drugs? Hell yes!!! Can I get an amen!

    • Bob Cronos July 2nd, 2014 at 3:17 pm

      Only the racists noticed…

    • bobby1122 July 2nd, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Maybe the protestors want people to come here LEGALLY-. but that doesn’t work with Obama’s Cloward and Piven game, does it??

    • Justin Volke V July 2nd, 2014 at 4:47 pm

I guess patriotism is foreign to foreigners and liberals who hate American exceptionalism.

When I see pictures of starving African children with ribs showing and distended stomachs from malnutrition and intestinal parasites and no clean drinking water and parents dying of malaria and AIDS who desperately want to come to America being told they have to wait in line for seven years while well fed and relatively rich and healthy illegal immigrants ( who can afford to pay a drug smuggler thousands of dollars for clandestine passage across the border are jumping in line ahead of them it makes me want to drive down to the border and join the protest too.
This isn’t about xenophobia it’s about fairness and extending our helping hand to those who really need it not those who take advantage of the convenience of proximity to a porous border.
