Meet the newest form of Conservative protest: Coal runners. It’s also highly disrespectful to everyone around them and the planet they/we live on. Conservatives in pickup trucks intentionally pour out black smoke into the air, for freedom and stuff. They do this to stick it to liberals and Obama. Seriously.

“Coal Rollers” are diesel trucks modified with chimneys and equipment that can force extra fuel into the engine causing dark black smoke to pour out of the chimney stacks. These modifications are not new, but as Slate’s Dave Weigel pointed out on Thursday, “rolling coal” has begun to take on a political dimension with pickup drivers increasingly viewing their smokestacks as a form of protest against environmentalists and Obama administration emissions regulations, according to Business Insider.

Even worse, this form of protest is gaining in popularity.

Business Insider reports:

Last month, Vocativ noted many coal rollers focus their fumes on “nature nuffies,” or people who drive hybrids, and “rice burners,” or Japanese-made cars.

“The feeling around here is that everyone who drives a small car is a liberal,” a roller named Ryan told Vocativ. “I rolled coal on a Prius once just because they were tailing me.”

Weigel spoke to a seller of coal rolling customization equipment who described why some drivers see spewing smoke as a political protest.

“I run into a lot of people that really don’t like Obama at all,” the salesperson said. “If he’s into the environment, if he’s into this or that, we’re not. I hear a lot of that. To get a single stack on my truck—that’s my way of giving them the finger. You want clean air and a tiny carbon footprint? Well, screw you.”

On a Facebook  page which is dedicated to this new form of protest, they’ve garnered about 16,000 followers and over 100,000 rolling coal posts have appeared on Instagram and Tumblr.

With this explosion in online attention, the battles between coal rollers and their environmentalist enemies are playing out in social media pages, Youtube videos and internet comment sections. Many of the rolling coal Facebook pages feature memes (like the one pictured on the right) that mock hybrid drivers and liberals. Coal rollers have also posted videos showing their trucks blasting more environmentally efficient cars with smoke.

Opponents of the practice have also taken to the internet. Weigel noted “a mid-June surge of comments” from progressives attacking coal rolling social media pages in the wake of the Vocativ article. In 2012, one outraged YouTube user posted a video entitled “Victim Of Coal Rolling” that showed a pickup shooting fumes at his car.

“Blow your smoke at me you son of a bitch,” the driver says in the video.

Comments on the pickup driver’s side of the argument weighed in.

Because, Confederate coal.

One alleged human replied, “What a loser you are, ain’t nothing wrong with rolling some confederate coal.”

“Stupid ricers. what were you gonna do you bitch?” another supposed human chimed in.

Conservatives are just awful people. Case in point:

“This is hilarious. And it freedom of expression – lefties want to make everyone drive small underpowered vehicles,” one YouTube commenter wrote. “This is a protest to that ideology, and it’s beautiful.”

H/T: My buddy TiredOfTea with thanks.

They are starting it here in Maine. They won’t be grunting gleefully when this Harley rider tosses a six pack of rotten eggs in their ass end and open windows the next time I get hit with their pollutants. Bitch about it and they will get my billywhacker on their quarter panels – dents don’t wash out.

    • William July 6th, 2014 at 11:40 am

I live in Maine as well. Modification of exhaust systems is illegal. Then of course there is

      §501-A. Disorderly conduct

      1. A person is guilty of disorderly conduct if:

      A. In a public place, the person intentionally or recklessly causes annoyance to others by intentionally:

      (1) Making loud and unreasonable noises;

      (2) Activating a device, or exposing a substance, that releases noxious and offensive odors; or

That’s arrestable when it occurs in the presence of a police officer.

      • Stacey Hall July 8th, 2014 at 12:56 pm

I love that you looked this one up for us, thank you! Sadly there’s never a cop around when you need one.

        • William July 8th, 2014 at 2:27 pm

True (former cop here). If that happens to you, calmly record the license number. If it’s safe to do so take a video, and report it to the authorities. At the very least the operator will get a call and or visit which can be motivating unto itself. Even warnings are generally electronically logged and should the suspect get stopped again it would pop up. Recording the event is important.

        • gun owner July 8th, 2014 at 8:00 pm

That’s what makes being a criminal so cool. I’ve got a gun, an illegal as hell gun, and you don’t. You’re defenseless, your helpless. What’s that you say, what? Guns are illegal? LOL!!! I’m a criminal remember?

The cops come along later, to tag your toe and write up a report.

Keep working to disarm the law abiding, that’s a brilliant strategy.

          • Stacey Hall July 9th, 2014 at 11:34 pm

Are you on crack or just seriously brain damaged?

  4. Shades July 6th, 2014 at 10:47 am

That’s right guys. Give your children and grandchildren asthma, emphysema and cancer. You’ll show that Obama character. Sheesh, the ignorance astounds me.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:22 pm

      The ignorance is also willful.

  5. MarcoZandrini July 6th, 2014 at 10:51 am

    Coal, it’s so 18th century.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:21 pm

      …and MANLY!

  6. mea_mark July 6th, 2014 at 10:51 am

If they do that to someone with asthma that may die, can they stand their ground and shoot the bastards for trying to kill them? These idiots better be careful. Intentionally pissing people off by hurting them can have serious consequences.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:20 pm

I’m hoping that they keep it up and turn the tide of public opinion against themselves. They’re doing such a wonderful job with women and minorites–might as well alienate everybody who wants to breathe clean air. Didn’t “conservatives” used to actually want to CONSERVE things? Like the National Park System, the Clean Air Act…

    • Bryan McManus July 7th, 2014 at 2:50 pm

I hope it’s about as well-received as open-carry in the toy aisle.

  7. mea_mark July 6th, 2014 at 10:59 am

I want to add this illegal in some states, even here in Texas.

    • uzza July 6th, 2014 at 1:01 pm

Got arrested for this once in SLC. Car blew a piston and on the way home the cops stopped me for making too much blue smoke. Said I’d “already caused one accident”. My calling him a lying asshole might have had something to do with whatever the charges were. Nowadays I’d prolly be killed, though the cops seem to have a strange aversion to busting right wing heads.

  8. craig7120 July 6th, 2014 at 11:14 am

Thank you coal burners for paying over and beyond your share of taxes.
They aint that smart but their money sure spends, I support their stupidity.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:17 pm

I just wish that we could make them do it under a ventilation hood. In my town the tour buses are enough to make you gag, and they are complying with the law.

      • craig7120 July 6th, 2014 at 12:46 pm

I’ve seen these guys for sometime now, I’m not a 100% positive it has anything to do with a political statement. They sure spend lots of money on gas and parts which that tax money helps the infrastructure. Their little puffs hardly make a dent in what I would call a ecological event. Like JJ said, being an assshole is just who some people are, sit back and watch an episode of evolutions ugly stepbrother.

        • ChrisVosburg July 6th, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Yeah, it sort of grew out of monster truck culture, in which taking up three parking spaces with your big-ass ride is considered a badge of honor.

The rest of us consider it a badge of dickitude.

        • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 9:29 pm

They don’t get to force others to put up with their smoke. I used to have to breathe a lot of diesel smoke from idling tour buses in the downtown area where I worked outdoors. It will make you sick. Ironically, the freakin tourists come here for the wilderness and fresh air.

          • craig7120 July 6th, 2014 at 11:39 pm

I feel ya, obnoxious morons the lot. I support stupidity, if they want to collect pollution tickets, spend their hard earned money on gas and trinkets I’m not gonna stand in their way with a green peace sign, just sayin.

  9. Stan Ubeki July 6th, 2014 at 11:27 am

These can be impounded by police in many states for a number of reasons. You cannot tamper with factory emission equipment. Most cars have to pass emission tests and have current stickers. Do this in front of a cop and you’ll at least get a ticket.

  10. William July 6th, 2014 at 11:36 am

Just another “look at me” method of overcoming insecurities.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:16 pm

That looks so practical! Great for taking the kids down to the local Target store to teach ’em how to open carry and bully other people just for fun and freedom…

      • Dwendt44 July 6th, 2014 at 1:08 pm

I’d wouldn’t be surprised if they had a ‘disability’ sticker in the windshield.

        • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 9:25 pm

…and a “Keep the Government out of Medicare!” bumper sticker.

  11. jasperjava July 6th, 2014 at 11:57 am

Deliberately being an A$$hole is an intrinsic part of the conservative psycho-pathology.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:14 pm

      True that.

  12. arc99 July 6th, 2014 at 11:58 am

For years, China followed the right wing playbook on air pollution. Matters came to a head when in 2008 some of the world class athletes coming for the Olympics openly discussed marching in the opening ceremonies wearing masks.

Of course when their towns end up like China, these rolling coalers will blame liberals. Do these idiots not understand that breathing does not have an ideology. I certainly do wish that there was a way to segregate us so that those who want to breathe diesel fumes could do so with impunity. Let them pipe it into the ventilation ducts of their homes if they so choose. But when they poison their air, they are poisoning mine as well.

They fret about loss of 2nd amendment rights, but demonstrate no concern at all for the fundamental innate right to breathe without being poisoned. Just another chapter in the ongoing saga of why right wingers are unfit to govern.

    http://www.weather.com/news/science/environment/beijing-china-dangerous-smog-20140116

Beijing Air Pollution at Dangerously High Levels Again

    ……

BEIJING — A dense fog shrouded Beijing’s skyscrapers as China’s capital saw its first wave of dangerous pollution in 2014, with the concentration of toxins registering more than 24 times the level considered safe.

The air took on an acrid odor, and many of the city’s commuters wore industrial strength face masks as they hurried to work.

“I couldn’t see the tall buildings across the street this morning,” said a traffic coordinator at a busy Beijing intersection who gave only his surname, Zhang. “The smog has gotten worse in the last two to three years. I often cough, and my nose is always irritated. But what can you do? I drink more water to help my body discharge the toxins.”

The city’s air quality is often poor, especially in winter when stagnant weather patterns combine with an increase in coal-burning to exacerbate other forms of pollution and create periods of heavy smog for days at a time.

  13. M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:13 pm

I lived in California in the 60s and 70s before they put in a lot of the smog restrictions. It was awful. I had a light blue VW and after 4 days in LA it was charcoal gray. So were the insides of our lungs. These jerks need to be slapped down, just as the gun fetishists do. Their “freedom” ends when it meets OUR freedoms.

  14. Foundryman July 6th, 2014 at 12:25 pm

I saw one of them, i thought something was wrong with their truck, I didn’t know they were doing it deliberately. Next time i’ll get his license number and find out if it’s legal or not.

  15. arc99 July 6th, 2014 at 12:26 pm

I wonder which radio entertainer these fools will rely on to maintain the list of “liberal” vehicles. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets 31mpg on the highway. It is not a vehicle that comes to mind when thinking of fuel efficiency. I wonder if they have thought that through. But that would assume that these right wingers are capable of thinking.

This could get interesting. Let’s say some rolling coaler shoots their fumes at a Prius or any vehicle they deem to be representative of liberalismThe driver of the Prius has an asthmatic child in a car seat in the back who breathes the fumes and starts having an attack. Prius speeds up and cuts off the pickup and both pull over to the side of the road. The state is an open carry stand your ground state.

“Law abiding citizens” carrying guns and deliberately poisoning the air we all have to breathe, and just daring you to complain about their boorish lack of concern for the rights of other people. Welcome to right wing America.

    • Dwendt44 July 6th, 2014 at 5:33 pm

“I wonder which radio entertainer these fools will rely on…”

I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count.

    • Weeble1150 July 6th, 2014 at 11:09 pm

“…at a Prius or any vehicle they deem to be representative of liberalism.”

My next door neighbor is a staunch conservative who drives a Prius and a Lincoln hybrid.

  16. ChrisVosburg July 6th, 2014 at 12:56 pm

    Jeezus, diesel trolls yet.

  17. jaylady2 July 6th, 2014 at 1:04 pm

I am constantly amazed and appalled by the stupidity of the right wing nuts. I started to refer to them as ignorant, but that woulde be inaccurate because ignorance can be fixed, there’s nothing that can be done to fix stupid!!

  18. Jim Cherry July 6th, 2014 at 1:11 pm

Yes, because a polluted and uninhabitable environment is the visible proof of freedom.

    • Nicholas Russell Harris July 7th, 2014 at 5:35 am

And progress. . .I mean after all isn’t this what the Founding Fathers wanted?

  19. Ron Jackson July 6th, 2014 at 1:14 pm

They take such pride in being ignorant

  20. motorfingaz July 6th, 2014 at 1:42 pm

Idiots…………..they’re soon going to have to be pounded violently back into reality.

  21. Roger Thornhill July 6th, 2014 at 1:45 pm

Are these vehicles able to pass emissions tests because they may have a switch somewhere that puts the vehicle’s emissions controls back into operation? Or do they not pass and pay a fine? Every state that I lived in for the past 30 years (CA, TX, and VA) has had these tests.

    • Dwendt44 July 6th, 2014 at 1:48 pm

Yes. Most of the mod kits are driver adjustable. Though I don’t know how extensive the test for diesel engines is in each state.
But still, diesel fuel costs more than gasoline and the ‘kits’ aren’t cheap. And even though they are diesel, they don’t get great mileage to begin with. So this blatant display of stupid gets expensive.

  22. Carolyn Blakeney July 6th, 2014 at 1:56 pm

I commented at the Facebook page already. There’s a fix for his. A few cups of water in the gas tank will sweeten those smoke trails right up, and everybody gets to breathe again.

    • Dusty754 July 6th, 2014 at 6:53 pm

Actually add a large amount of sugar to those cups of water.

  23. Linda1961 July 6th, 2014 at 2:05 pm

Ah, the old saying, “cut off your nose to spite your face,” is in action in this idiotic protest. Rolling confederate coal is harming the planet, which is harming all of us, not just President Obama and liberals. However, these conservatives seem to be too stupid to realize that, or maybe they don’t care, just as long as they can give the planet the finger.

    • mmaynard119 July 6th, 2014 at 8:52 pm

Except that in red state Kentucky, home of Senator Turtle, Coal accounts for 18% of the states GDP.

  24. Linda1961 July 6th, 2014 at 2:07 pm

A clear case of “money to burn.”

  25. Herb Sarge Phelps July 6th, 2014 at 2:38 pm

This is not only a disgrace, but it is disrespectful to our nation. I served in 2 branches of the military and under Presidents without letting their party alliance stopping me for obeying their lawful orders regardless of if I liked or disliked them. I hated G.W. Bush for the pain, suffering and death he caused in my home area after Katrina, but when I saw him in Mesa Az., I held my sign about Katrina, and made eye contact with him, but I didn’t do anything to disrespect the office as much as would like to have rung his neck. It is not good to make racial implications at Obama because it is an insult to the whole of our nation, both blacks, people like me who wants fairness to all and acceptance of any American who is just trying to make our nation better. This is not what I served for and it is a slap in my face.

  26. Humma Kavula July 6th, 2014 at 3:10 pm

Yes, because nothing says “I’m a patriot” quite like fucking up the air quality around you, causing those who have respiratory ailments to experience asthma attacks and the like.

When everything is framed in terms of attacking something they don’t like, or if it’s framed in terms of referring to people who disagree with your pollution “the enemy,” it’s time to put down the remote control, step away from the computer, drag your ass to your room and pray to God for forgiveness in being misled by the very same people who would just as soon sell you down the river to make a profit.

  27. Pam_L July 6th, 2014 at 3:12 pm

It is clear that their racism has compromised their ability to use reason. This is just sick and stupid.

    • Dusty754 July 6th, 2014 at 6:51 pm

They have never had an ability to use reason.

    • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 7:45 am

  29. urbanegorilla July 6th, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Here in California, that’s illegal and should be reported. I’m sure it’s illegal in every other state as well. This is California’s website (I’d take a picture of the vehicle in action and its license plate BTW) :

Form: Complaint Form for Smoking Vehicles http://www.arb.ca.gov/enf/complaints/svc2.htm

  30. CT14 July 6th, 2014 at 5:20 pm

Deliberately blowing smoke at other cars isn’t speech or protest. It’s harassment and it’s causing unsafe driving conditions.

Regulate it, and fine the sh!t out them. They ruined it for themselves by deciding toroll coal as a bullying tactic.

Then you’ll see the real whining begin: these tough guys won’t be able to deal with getting ticketed and fined.

  31. Jill Suzanne Faucher-Ross July 6th, 2014 at 6:13 pm

They all belong in jail. This is harassment. Proof that right wing conservatives would rather trash and pollute their country rather than see it get run the right way by a REAL MAN, like Obama. Just exactly like little brat kids when they can’t get their way, they’ll destroy what it is they said they ‘loved’ in the first place. A good beating would do them a hell of a lot of good!

    • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 7:42 am

They don’t represent the GOP. Liberaland is using the power of media to brain wash Liberals, looks like its working. I like the new “Tesla” electric vehicles, they are awesome.

      • Jill Suzanne Faucher-Ross July 7th, 2014 at 7:54 am

Well ‘conservative republican land ‘ is using the power of Fox Noise to teach us all to hate one another, so I think the libs have way, way more of a grip on reality than those fascist theocratic monsters.

      • S. Phillips July 7th, 2014 at 8:23 am

They don’t represent the GOP? Have you read the GOP platform from last few elections, often calling for eliminating the EPA entirely?? McCalleyboy if you don’t agree with all their boneheaded tactics, maybe you don’t BELONG with them, because they surely are doing a bang-up job of using the “power of media” (including AM radio) to convince ALL of America that they are ornery, contrary, willing to ruin the country and their own health to express their disdain for the “liberals,” and also NOT smart. Be sure you have enough GOP bumperstickers on your Tesla so your “Conservative” brethren don’t come after you.

        • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 8:23 pm

Modern technology is awesome and will be a huge money maker, I don’t see any downside to an electric car that runs better and has less moving parts than the fire breathing dragon pictured above. The GOP doesn’t seem to support green energies because most of those government funded business were run by white collar crooks, Tesla knows what he’s doing, he’s able to bring quality and price down.

  32. Dusty754 July 6th, 2014 at 6:51 pm

Take the moron that owns the truck and super glue his lips to the exhaust pipe. Start the engine and put a brick on the throttle close the door and watch the fun.

  33. 1EdMeadows83 July 6th, 2014 at 6:57 pm

These are the cretins who would never vote for that black dude in the White House but couldn’t tell you who their congressional Rep. is. But they’ll vote for the “R” every time.

  34. cecilia July 6th, 2014 at 7:44 pm

i hope all these morons get lung cancer from doing these sorts of ridiculous stunts

    • Jake July 6th, 2014 at 9:34 pm

Unfortunately, they are not likely to be the ones getting lung cancer from this – your children are.

      • cecilia July 6th, 2014 at 10:04 pm

yes, I get your point….I do think the best way to deal with these selfish idiots is handing out fines

  35. KarenJ July 6th, 2014 at 7:59 pm

I’d suggest following the coal roller long enough to see if he parks it somewhere, then shove a potato up his tailpipe.

  36. LiberalMD July 6th, 2014 at 8:23 pm

I think most states have laws governing emissions from motor vehicles….now seems like a good time to start enforcing them. Losing a few hundred or thousand dollars or a stay at Hotel Incarceration would make these people think again.

    • Sean July 7th, 2014 at 12:57 pm

yes but unfortunately, the local butt scratching constabulary sides with these knuckle draggers because they hate our soshlist mooslem presedent

  37. mmaynard119 July 6th, 2014 at 8:51 pm

You know, eating too much KFC will do that to your digestive system.

  38. Lux Tempo July 6th, 2014 at 8:53 pm

Doesnt this just illustrate the stupidity of the far right?

    • Esteban Rey July 6th, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Someone please tell them we don’t need any more examples of their stupidity. WE GET IT. YOU’RE AN ASSWIPE.

      • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 7:37 am

Agree, these people are extreme idiots and don’t speak for the GOP.

        • Christian July 7th, 2014 at 7:10 pm

But you have to admit mcalleyboy, this fringe of the GOP is ALARMINGLY huge. I mean massive.

          • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 8:30 pm

In the media only… the real crooks are big business, these people could be Conservatives and Liberals, they will go to extremes in order to protect their outdated technology’s, gas, coal, propane.

          • Christian July 7th, 2014 at 8:56 pm

…Mc, that’s cognitive dissonance If I’ve ever seen it.

This is what I hate about modern conservatism; some of you people are finally waking up to the fact that big business is to blame and the environment actually matters, and yet you STILL won’t admit that it’s the GOP that caused that mess. Your party is all for tax cuts for the wealthy, less regulation, etc. That’s why business is so big and corrupt.

You’re just a very confused liberal in GOP clothing. It’s like when you people finally realize the truth you just pretend you knew it all along; that’s not the way it works. Everything you’ve posted on this thread has been really liberal, dude. You do NOT sound like a conservative at all. Entertaining environmentally safe energy? Criticizing big business and claiming it’s the big problem? Welcome to the blue side, buddy.

Stupidity on display. Hey let’s elect more of these mental midgits to work for the government that they hate.

  42. fancypants July 6th, 2014 at 11:32 pm

these are exhaust kits ( mostly for diesel fuel trucks ) that are popping up in a lot of states. Unfortunately for the owner you have to mess with the injectors and the turbo to get this black smog & In the long run it ruins your engine.

The Republican agenda / platform: defenders of pollution, defenders of voter suppression, they believe in lying and fake scandals, they believe in starting wars with lies no matter how many Americans die, they have dug in their heels and continue to believe in their failed trickle down economic polices that almost brought us to the brink of disaster, they believe in Party before Nation and sabotage any efforts to help America and Americans with obstructionism and filibustering, they are against healthcare, against helping the poor/ sick/ elderly/ hungry/ homeless / unemployed / students, against science and public education, against civil rights, against women’s rights and health, against a living wage, always voting against Veteran benefits, stay believe in a fake god’s giving them the right to be bigots/ racists/ sexists and fascist and they are to force their fake religious beliefs on all others. They worship and protect the rich, the corporations, Wall Street and Bankers/ Financiers from prosecution and they worship the idol of the gun.

Busch and Cheney, hey they’re gone now! The current sitting President is sending boots on the ground.

Rolling coal? More like trolling coal. It’s childish and stupid to think you have to be anti-environmentalist to be anti-socialist. I don’t think most people are doing it just to make a political statement though since it has been around for a while.

  45. androphiles July 7th, 2014 at 12:26 am

The most fun about this is that the coal-runners don’t realize how childish they are.

    • AxelDC July 7th, 2014 at 8:11 am

If Obama said he liked the 4th of July, teabaggers would protest fireworks and throw hot dogs into Boston Harbor.

    • Lynn Fletcher July 7th, 2014 at 8:38 am

The problem is, no matter how childish, the damage they are doing is very real.

    • ShelleysLeg July 7th, 2014 at 6:37 pm

I would love to see some video of PBO hauling ass in one of these big manly trucks, spewing black smoke for blocks……the hicks would STOP at once!

    • Scott Jamieson July 7th, 2014 at 10:51 pm

Someone should tell them that Obama is in favor of breathing, see how quickly they pull a plastic bag over their heads.

  46. mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 7:28 am

Not all conservatives, hey I like the “Tesla” electric car, it’s beautiful, modern and the cost is somewhere around $50,000. Only an idiot from down south would spew black smoke, probably stick the rebel flag in the back window also, same guys that drag people with chains, these guys are not to be taken seriously and don’t speak for the GOP, stop the lies.

    • Betty Eyer July 7th, 2014 at 8:20 am

I don’t know, I live in Duck Dynasty country. To me, these people ARE the GOP.

      • mcalleyboy July 7th, 2014 at 8:16 pm

They make for hilarious news only and are considered the extreme end of the GOP.

        • Betty Eyer July 8th, 2014 at 9:12 am

They got invited to be speakers at recent campaign events. Sorry, dude, I think you have to own them.

    • HH July 7th, 2014 at 10:09 am

Well, seeing as how the top truck pictured has a New Jersey license plate, I guess that’s not true. There are a lot of “red” folks in this blue state and they can act just as dumb as the rest of them.

  48. S. Phillips July 7th, 2014 at 8:17 am

  49. Harshman July 7th, 2014 at 8:26 am

A bunch of ignorant rednecks trying to dignify their stupidity as political protest. The most intelligent thing they could do would be to grow up and shut up.

  50. Mel36 July 7th, 2014 at 8:30 am

That’s right, kill the earth and make its inhabitants sick. Of course, we must be wrong because, let’s face it, the conservatives are always “right.” This kind of absolute stupidity and in your face hatred of all that is societally responsible is a physical display of just how patently wrong the GOP voters are. Truly, in addition to all the obvious detriment to planet and people, this is a real accident danger for the driver who looses temporary vision in this black cloud. Were these people dropped on their heads as children? And, how is it that midstream conservatives can continue to vote red when it is so obvious the extremists will never allow the party to play responsibly, much less in a way that is actually legal and moral?

  51. SkeeterVT July 7th, 2014 at 9:46 am

Dumbasses! These “coal rollers” are going to pay for it dearly — at the pump. These damn fools are too blinded by their hatred of the government and of environmentalists to realize that it’s going to cost them a lot more money at the fuel pump because their “coal rollers” WASTE FUEL and they’ll have to “fill ‘er up” a lot more often. How stupid can you get?

    • ShelleysLeg July 7th, 2014 at 6:35 pm

And diesel fuel is WAAAAY more expensive than any other kind!! LOL!! Well, less money for guns and ammo for the ‘viagra vigilantes’!

  52. Phonicsmonkey July 7th, 2014 at 10:31 am

Way to sensationalize something that a handful of idiots are doing. I love the standard liberal checklist going on here:

Generalize all conservatives as racist? Check

Denigrate the South as a bastion of right wing lunacy? Check

Paint all conservatives as people who hate minorities, women, the environment, healthcare, and progress? Check

Blame Bush for all current problems? Check

Trumpet Fox News as a propaganda tool while ignoring all other media outlets (MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC) who tout themselves as objective news sources yet consistently underreport or totally ignore any story that would disrupt a liberal agenda? Check

Smugly tout yourself as extremely tolerant and progressive, yet fail to see any hypocrisy in calling conservatives racist, ignorant rednecks? Check

    • mea_mark July 7th, 2014 at 12:09 pm

Is it hypocrisy if it is true?

    • Tricia 406 July 7th, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Ya know I try not to do what you are saying..the tea party took over the conservatives like the environmentelists latched on to the progressives..how should I choose

Phonicsmonkey… pointing out that an alarmingly high number of conservatives (definitely not the majority, but waaaaay too many) are racist, ignorant, or redneck is not “intolerance” or “anti-progress”. That’s just a stupid thing to say.

Being intolerant of intolerance is hypocrisy? You… DO realize what you’re saying, correct?

    • alsace_man July 7th, 2014 at 7:27 pm

Ever wonder why everything Fox “News” has advocated with their heavily documented fabrications, anchor illiteracy, fallacies, editing, and histrionics has ended in disaster for Americans?

  53. Thomas July 7th, 2014 at 11:50 am

Mr. President, perhaps then you could do more to promote vaccines and immunization. Within one generation, all these flat-earthers would be gone, from self-inflicted ignorance and their own opposition to common sense.

Alternately, we could encourage them to try breathing their own smoke in a closed garage, washed down with a drink from the local fracking-polluted water well. Maybe that’ll learn ’em about how “natural” elements which man produces in excess can actually kill. It seems they won’t quite understand any lesson short of seeing it for themselves first hand.

    • cecilia July 7th, 2014 at 7:42 pm

they won’t learn a damn thing…they will just die

  54. arizonamildman July 7th, 2014 at 11:55 am

“Yeah, I support pollution!” Are you just stupid or what? This article will give the idiots of our nation something to “hate Obama and rally around” like school yard bullies trying to act tough by wearing the same article of clothing. If it is so popular, as this article suggests, then I wonder why this is the first time I have heard of “coal rolling” which sounds like something the author of this piece made up. Just as stupid and twice as juvenile. Too bad these people are so insecure that they only way they can make themselves feel better is to do something that basically might as well be hanging a sign on themselves that says, “I am an a**hole and proud of it.” We aren’t supposed to be able to tell that from outside your vehicle. For all I know, this guy took a picture of one truck doing this and is selling “coal rolling devices” for trucks.

  55. Megan July 7th, 2014 at 1:31 pm

    • ChristianEconCom July 9th, 2014 at 11:07 am

That’s only in advanced economies, not dependent teabilly red states.

  58. superdude July 7th, 2014 at 4:57 pm

I’m a trust fund baby and have more money than I know what to do with, I don’t mind tickets or fines, and I really enjoy watching liberals flip out. I’m going to drive my smoke machine all around the country. You’ll know when see me, I’ll be the one flipping you the bird. Go ahead and scream, there’s nothing you can do about it. Your president might have a phone and a pen, but he doesn’t have a scepter and a crown.

    • nanc35 July 7th, 2014 at 6:39 pm

And I hope you choke on it when you develop breathing problems! Enjoy fighting for every breath, idiot!

    • Christian July 7th, 2014 at 6:54 pm

That sad, sad moment when you realize the original poster isn’t joking.

You’re right about one thing; Obama’s certainly no king. He has basically no power compared to the republican controlled congress.

    • alsace_man July 7th, 2014 at 7:25 pm

Actually, trust fund or not, you’re right about one thing. You’re a baby. Probably still wet the bed too.

superdude: Stupid and proud of it.

  59. Ed Crown July 7th, 2014 at 5:02 pm

You know, just when you’ve thought you have lived to see almost everything & anything, we get this. This is being way beyond your average ideologist and principled fundamentalist–no, this is a combination of the conservative small-mind, where
hate and stupidity forms their every warped souls. Just about everyone knows
diesel fuel is highly toxic with 86% of it being carbon. When you are living with
people who believe that science is poisonous and facts do not matter–that is
an insurmountable wall to overcome. Just to think in today’s political toxic stew,
caring about the planet and environment now gives you the label of ‘leftist’ to
where black smoke is blown in their faces and dirt continually thrown upon them.
Read an article last week where Obama wants to ramp up funding and action for
our eroding infrastructure. On this feed, people who thought it was a good idea
for doing this with all the revenue, jobs creation and economical growth, were
labeled “socialists”. It was mind-blowing to see how people are so wrapped
into an ideology that it blinds them from reality. Anything that President Obama
is for–they are against–even if it were positions they vehemently supported in
the not so long ago past.

If you blow plumes of black smoke to make a political statement against the
EPA and President Obama makes you a very dysfunctional human being with
a very dysfunctional way thought process. “Dyslexic patriotism”.

  60. alsace_man July 7th, 2014 at 7:24 pm

Here in California, vehicles that belch black smoke like that get cited with repair & report citations. They have to prove that the condition causing the smoke has been repaired or remediated. This idiotic “protest” wouldn’t last long here. Now, I’m gonna hear from all the idiots who defend this “protest.”

    • ChristianEconCom July 9th, 2014 at 11:04 am

And these regressive idiots are mostly in red states dependent on Cali.

  61. L T July 7th, 2014 at 8:11 pm

This is just their version of the occupy protests in a way; A bunch of idiots providing no productive argument while being a burdon to everyone around them. Its one extreme versus the other….. And the environmental impact? Not even a drop in the bucket carbon-wise, not even a microscopic dot in the bucket really…. If anything this will actually be like free advertising for the clean car movement. Plus, rednecks are just awesome in general so let them have their fun 🙂

  62. CrackerJacker July 7th, 2014 at 9:45 pm

So it forces them to burn extra fuel. Fuel that’s already an arm and a leg to use wisely? Go right ahead “conservative” fools.

    • egbegb July 8th, 2014 at 3:59 am

It’s an “arm and a leg” because Obama refuses to open America’s oil industry to world competition. Think about this: America overtakes Saudi Arabia as the most prolific oil producer and gasoline prices go up. That could only happen under Obama policies. You are being screwed by this administration and you don’t even know it.

      • treees July 8th, 2014 at 6:57 am

Obama refuses to open America’s oil industry because he thinks that America runs on Dunkin. He, and other ivory tower elites, have no idea how our economy actually operates. They think there is some magical non~emission fuel, and that the secret to finding it is by denying petroleum from the American marketplace.

        • Oluwaseun aka Shawn Akinkuolie July 8th, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Get your facts straight. Under Obama we have actually become the #1 in oil production. We are beating Saudi and Russia.

      • Stacey Hall July 8th, 2014 at 12:57 pm

        What a giant internet herp-derp.

  63. egbegb July 8th, 2014 at 4:00 am

Black smoke is an excellent rebuttal to the climate science nonsense, dont’cha think?

  64. strongfp July 8th, 2014 at 7:47 am

Nothing a little sugar in the gas tank and a pair of pliers to rip out the valve stem wouldn’t fix.

    • superdude July 8th, 2014 at 2:02 pm

Why not confront the smoker? What, are you a coward? You don’t need to answer, we already know you’re a chicken. “When that scary rich guy goes inside I’m gonna sneak up and vandalize his vehicle.”

      • big time liberal July 8th, 2014 at 7:42 pm

Oh yeah, tough guy? I’m gonna buy a gun and show you who the coward is. We’ll see how well you like the second amendment when me and all my liberal friends have our guns pointed at you. Bet you won’t be so tough then will you? We’re going to lock you up in Guantanamo and water board your sorry ass. The world’s changing neoclowns, we’re taking over! Barack Obama for a third term, watch and see.

        • wannabealot July 9th, 2014 at 8:31 am

Wow. It’s comments like that which give liberals a bad name. Please don’t sink to the conservative’s level.

        • strongfp July 9th, 2014 at 4:15 pm

          Great. You do that.

  65. R.J. Carter July 8th, 2014 at 12:12 pm

How can I make my car put out white smoke? In case I have to announce a new pope or something?

  66. superdude July 8th, 2014 at 1:42 pm

Me and my buddies from Goldman-Sachs enjoy taking our dirt bikes out into the desert and terrorizing the little creatures that attempt to survive out there, we get a big kick out of racing around the desert. Bawaaaaawwp, bawaaaaaaaap, bawaaaaaaaap, “outta our way varmints!” We figure we’re doing them a big favor, after all that which does not kill you makes you stronger. The survivors are better off because of it. When we’re done we load our bikes back onto our jacked up pickups, and light the smoke machine. We really dig watching those smoke stacks pour out the black coal. I don’t know what I like better, rollin coal or chasing varmints and scaring them to death. Being a Republican is cool.

    • ChristianEconCom July 9th, 2014 at 11:15 am
