Costco, the second largest retailer in America, made the decision to pull Dinesh D’Souza’s latest book,  America: Imagine a World Without Her, from its shelves because it did not meet the threshold for sales items. So of course, wingnuts are losing their sh*t. How DARE Costco remove a book which isn’t selling?

However, if they had gone to Costco’s Facebook page, they would see the following which The Blaze writes  that the giant store “seemingly” responded:

Costco is not influenced by political considerations in selecting product for sale in our warehouses or on Costco.com. This includes our selection of books. Our book buyers are solely interested in book sales, and do not favor any political persuasion over another. Recently, after deciding to sell the book “America: Imagine the World Without Her”, beginning on June 1, a decision was made to pull the book from sale on July 1. This decision was based solely on the number of copies sold during that month, and had nothing to do with the content of the book.

Costco is not a book store. Our book shelf space is very limited. We exercise discipline in the best utilization of that limited space based solely on what our members are buying. We can’t carry every title that our members are interested in reading. We are constantly monitoring book sales, and make decisions to pull books off the shelves frequently based on sales volume to make room for other titles. Politics or controversy over content do not influence our decisions.

After we made the return, a documentary was released about the book. Since then there has been heightened interest by our membership base and brisk sales at locations still in stock. Therefore, we have made the decision to reorder the book. – Karen

You see, it will be back? No need to fret. You can still purchase one of Dinesh’s hate on Obama books at Costco.  That was not “seemingly” a response. That was direct information from Costco. You can tell because it says “Costco” at the top of the page on Facebook.

Still yet, one Facebook user wrote after Costco specifically said the book will be back on the shelves, “Stupid a-holes at Costco. Keep supporting the imposter and no one, even progressives will be able to afford to shop there.”

Another one reads, “Sorry Costco!! I will spend my money elsewhere!! For some reason I have a Sam’s membership and guess where my money is going?? Pulling this book because it was not selling is such a big bunch of BS!! How about Hiliary’s book?? Even Amazon is barely selling her stuff but they haven’t pulled the thing!! Censorship if censorship no matter how you describe it!!”

Actually, I would describe their move as a Free Market decision.

On Twitter.

It’s all Hillary’s fault.

A woman with bad grammar weighed in, naturally.

You….SCUM!

I’m not sure what this means, but it’s probably super-important.

Back to Hillary, because of course.

The biggest wingnut of all weighed in with a WorldNetDaily link.

I found this at Wonkette.

Go to Costco’s Facebook page and leave something kind. The wingnuts are attacking them.

No responses to Costco Removes Dinesh D’Souza’s Book Over Lack Of Sales; Wingnuts Blame Obama And Hillary

  1. Bianca Bradley July 8th, 2014 at 8:05 pm

No for the most part they are blaming raging Progressives and yelling censorship. I just got done reading newsbusters.

Though this really has to be the stupidest tempest in a teapot I’ve ever heard. If you wan the book that darn badly, go buy it on Amazon, or Barnes and Noble, or support your independent book store ffs.

    • Billy Jackson July 8th, 2014 at 8:24 pm

      Well said, Bianca!

    • Chinese Democracy July 8th, 2014 at 8:27 pm

If only raging progressives had that much power lol

  2. tiredoftea July 8th, 2014 at 8:13 pm

It couldn’t be that it’s a crap book by a third, no, make that, fourth rate author. FREE MARKET, BITCHES!

    • Bianca Bradley July 8th, 2014 at 8:38 pm

Plenty of crap books are best sellers.

      • tiredoftea July 8th, 2014 at 8:40 pm

Unfortunately, too true. But, not this one.

  3. Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 8:15 pm

The story gets worse. Sousa’s lawyers also went after Google because their search engines were confusing the movie version “America” with his 2012 movie and now when you Google America the damn movie shows up on the top of the feed ABOVE the actually country and that band by the same name that had that one song I kind of liked 30 years ago.

I think he had best start doing that.
He’s got more important things to ponder than Costco giving his book the boot because of lousy sales!

“I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name. . . ” Whoops wrong “America.” Google is so confusing. Is it the movie? The book? “Obama’s America 2016 (which actually came out in 2012)”?

    • Chinese Democracy July 8th, 2014 at 8:26 pm

Oh the faux-outrage! D’Souza would be just another brown skinned man to these RWNJs if he were anything other than a conservative wingnut.

  5. KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker July 8th, 2014 at 8:19 pm

Conservatives constantly wallow in false outrage and fabrication. It gets tedious listening to them.

  6. Budda July 8th, 2014 at 8:27 pm

Conservatives and T-party types shop at WalMart. Cosco is too upscale for them.

  7. arc99 July 8th, 2014 at 8:41 pm

I stopped by the Costco Facebook page to sample the comments.

My god, right wingers are a bunch of petulant deranged perpetual victims. It is sobering and a little scarey to realize that so many people are so out of touch with reality.

There are numerous threats of boycotts and of course the usual references to Nazism. Guess I will spend a few extra bucks at my local Costco this week, just to let them know that no the world has not gone stark raving mad. It’s just the far right fringe acting normally (at least for them).

    • tiredoftea July 8th, 2014 at 8:42 pm

      Welcome to “America”!

      • Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 9:23 pm

The country, the band, the book or the movie. I’m still so confused! Damn Google!

        • tiredoftea July 8th, 2014 at 9:27 pm

See, it’s us Progressives just messing with poor old Dinesh! If he was any better at keywords and SEO, he could have a best seller despite his incompetence.

    • Anomaly 100 July 8th, 2014 at 8:50 pm

There are tons and tons of comments there. It has to be a collaborated effort.

    • m2old4bs July 9th, 2014 at 2:16 pm

I’ll sign up for a Costco membership, although I don’t have a separate freezer thingy.

    • Justus Iselusive July 10th, 2014 at 1:56 pm

Funny how Costco relented and the book is back on the shelf…. business decision, yeah they lost a ton of money, from people cancelling their memberships. hahaha

NOW, if Costco had said they were going to remove ALL political books from their shelves, because they don’t want to appear bias in either direction, I would go with that.

    • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Oh, please arc99 you need to repent of all your nonsense, not for the world, but for yourself. America is a book for america not for communists–get it Arco

  8. Dan Adams July 8th, 2014 at 9:24 pm

So I guess being a top seller on Amazon means that you ARE NOT selling books. Ok. I got it now…

    • Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 9:25 pm

Yup that’s exactly what it means.

The article I linked to was actually a first person narrative of how the author had a top seller on Amazon and was still not selling books and . . . . I forgot the rest of what I was saying.
          Mmmmm sideboobs.

Dan you cannot argue with uninformed kool-aid drinking liberals. When they can’t argue facts, they will call you a racist, or the next in line a misogynist….rofl.

    • arc99 July 8th, 2014 at 9:41 pm

Being a top seller Amazon most certainly does not mean being a top seller at Costco.

Right wingers just looking for another excuse to whine and play the victim, even if it means whining about the capitalistic fee market they claim is the solution to all problems.

      • Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 9:43 pm

Amazon book sales are like Disqus likes, easily manipulated and seldom profitable.

      • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 4:11 pm

Being a human being who buys what costco sells doesn’t mean anyone has to shop at Costco—-right or are they in the business of making money

  9. neworleans878 July 8th, 2014 at 9:59 pm

The Right Wing…all for the free market until the dollar votes against them.

Then it’s another Liberal commie conspiracy!

    • Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Well their whole ideology is built on a scapegoat mentality so it’s no surprise they turn to look for someone else to blame whenever things don’t go their way.

    • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 4:09 pm

Yes and guess who own the voting machine company George Soros.

  10. arc99 July 8th, 2014 at 10:00 pm

hey all you nutty right wingers, it looks like the counting is going to go late into the night, but preliminary totals indicate there are billions of books NOT being sold at Costco.

I will update everyone when the final tabulation is in. and no, there will not be a recount.

    • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

And the best one of all “America” is one of them. Who cares what costco does now, don’t intend to every go their to find out.

  11. Justus Iselusive July 8th, 2014 at 10:19 pm

Hillary’s book is already in the toilet, D’Souza’s book is #1 so is the movie btw, so how is there no interest? What they mean is lack of interest from the people that run costco. Coscto now joins Fahrenheit 451 and the burning of books in Nazi Germany as their finest moment.

    • Obewon July 8th, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Hillary’s $14,000,000 book advance plus royalties vs Pleaded Guilty Felon D’Souza’s head used as a plunger for the prison toilet.

      • Justus Iselusive July 10th, 2014 at 1:52 pm

The company that advanced Hillary for her book, said he isn’t even going to make the advance he gave her, lmao

      • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 4:07 pm

the publisher published a million copies of her book that are setting in wear houses. If you love Hilary wait, they’ll be selling fof .10 a cope soon. Like all liberals you speak as one who doesn’t really know how unpopular you all are. What do you liberals do, belong to a club for idiots only, where you all have that Nancy Peolosi silly smile and fatter uourself to the nines and come out a bunch of dumb clucks. May I suggest getting a life.

    • William July 8th, 2014 at 10:40 pm

It’s called the free market stupid.
Costco claims this was part of its ordinary monthly rotation of stock – the book was released on June 2 but did not meet a certain sales threshold, moving only 3600 copies in four weeks, so the company pulled it to make room for something else.
Why do you hate American capitalism and free enterprise.
But hey nice job slipping in a “Nazi” reference.
Glenn Beck would be so proud.

    • arc99 July 8th, 2014 at 10:57 pm

the idiocy of you right wingers is becoming downright toxic. it was a business decision for Costco to maximize the profitability of their limited space for books.

but even if the decision were based on ideology, Costco is a private company and they can make inventory decisions for any reason they damn well please. in the wake of the recent Hobby Lobby court case, right wingers told us it was as American as apple pie for a corporation to conduct its business based on the company’s “deeply held moral values”.

so if it were the case that Costco agreed with me that most anything D Souza writes is a worthless pile of sh*t, then according to what right wingers have been telling us for a week, the company has every right to not inventory a publication that contradicts its moral values.

Even if Costco were engaging in morally subjective inventory control (which I do not think they are), that was the world you right wingers wanted. so STFU

Love the movie America and you arc99 are no America, your are an American hater may I suggest go live in a communist companies with your buddies. Plane and boats leave our shores every day or we can boot uou in the read and let uou swim to anywhere you love to go, but you must leave life is too short for you to be so happy in America. The America I love and al those costco ceo’s can go with you

    • Eric Trommater July 8th, 2014 at 11:34 pm

“America” did $2.74M at the box office this weekend. Some sequel about cars turning into robots (or robots turning into cars I forget) did $37.05M, so you are only $34M off, better math than most trolls but still pretty bad.

      • Justus Iselusive July 10th, 2014 at 1:50 pm

I am not talking about #1 box office smash, do you not read the news, it is number 1 in it’s field as a Documentary, not in the field of like Deliver Us From Evil…. geeez. I guess I have to put everything in plain English with no thought required.

        • Eric Trommater July 10th, 2014 at 2:00 pm

“D’Souza’s book is #1 so is the movie btw, so how is there no interest?” You didn’t say “among documentaries” because as a troll you knew that it is the only documentary getting a wide release in theaters tis summer and comparing it’s performance to “The History of Asian Ant Farms” or whatever it is in competition with wouldn’t be all that impressive. I’m sure it will do well on Netflix though. Also if it is doing so well why are D’Souza’s people complaining that Google is killing it’s box office?

        • Anomaly 100 July 10th, 2014 at 2:17 pm

          I’m sorry. Was that English?

    • Anomaly 100 July 9th, 2014 at 7:03 am

Do you have anything to back that up regarding his movie being #1 at the box office?

Hillary’s book isn’t in the toilet. I don’t know where you’re getting your facts. Oh wait…yes I do.

      • Justus Iselusive July 10th, 2014 at 1:49 pm

Cnn and MSNBC… they said the book tanked in the first week… I thought those channels were you people’s very own news source. lmao

      • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 3:59 pm

we all saw it in the toilet, that’s where we get our fact from. you don’t have to wait to get our facts straight. What sane right minded human being would buy a book Hillary wrote, not me

      • burqa July 14th, 2014 at 11:22 pm

Yeah, I thought the monkey movie was number one at the box office.

Book sales numbers of conservatives get artificially hyped because people like the Koch brothers buy them in bulk.

I imagine Justin Bieber sells a lot of recordings and seems to do well on the concert circuit, but that is no measure of the quality of his product.

That is what I am interested in – quality. I rarely buy books by pundits.

DeSouza does little but preach to the choir and presents a biased view that omits or distorts facts. The result is the poor saps who think he makes good arguments get slaughtered in forums such as this.

        BURQA’S FOURTH LAW OF POLITICS:
Conservative pundits have an S&M relationship with their audiences. Being sadists, the pundits deliberately distort and omit information on various subjects, because they know their audience will repeat it unthinkingly. They enjoy watching their masochistic audience present their half-truths in forums such as this and get creamed, which appeals to their masochism.

Both derive pleasure from being wrong.

    • William July 9th, 2014 at 12:55 pm

Because after all, the President controls the book inventory at Costco

  12. burqa July 8th, 2014 at 10:49 pm

Capitalism took place and conservatives can’t handle it.
    Next question.

    • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 3:57 pm

Conservatives inventaed Capitism Liberals invented communism get it right burqa

      • burqa July 14th, 2014 at 11:09 pm

Please name the “conservative” inventor of capitalism. I would like to read a biography of this enterprising person.

Communism did indeed arise from the extreme political Left.
On the extreme political Right have been monarchies, fascism and the Nazis, not to mention a large assortment of tinpot dictators in shako hats behind mirrored sunglasses.
This country was freed from the yoke of a tyrannical king supported by the conservative Tories when the liberal Whigs won the American Revolution.
Further, when it came to winning wars against totalitarianism, such as World War I and II, it was liberals who again led this nation to victory.
Conservatives have Grenada on their resume.

  13. William July 8th, 2014 at 10:49 pm

I like the customer who is going to buy all their books at Sam’s Club now–yeah, Walmart never censors books, magazines or music CDs…

    • m2old4bs July 9th, 2014 at 2:10 pm

Wal-Mart as a corporate entity is more up their alley given Wal-Mart’s labor practices. Costco has class and dignity build into their business policies, particularly when it comes to their employees. Those who are boycotting Costco and go all in to support Sam’s are supporting a company that doesn’t care about their employees nor their customers, just their corporate profits.

      • M D Reese July 9th, 2014 at 2:57 pm

Costco has been showing that businesses can make a profit without putting their employees in the poorhouse. The epitome of arrogance that is Walmart was last holiday season when they had a “food drive” for their employees–with the food to be donated by other employees…

        • ubecat July 14th, 2014 at 3:55 pm

I love walmart and your wasting your time telling to shop with a left wing store out to destroy America

          • M D Reese July 15th, 2014 at 12:36 pm

Oh gag me with a spork. You really do epitomize the problem. I’ve got a shocker for you–Walmart does NOT love you. They couldn’t care less–as long as there’s enough of you left to keep the Walton Heirs (no, they DIDN’T build that) rolling in dough.

  17. Schliky July 9th, 2014 at 1:13 am

Any legitimate Costco shopper knows that they carry a limited number of sku’s and are constantly rotating them in and out. Now that such a “Buzz” has been created surrounding the book, they’ll gladly keep it in stock for a couple more weeks and take your money. Thanks Rush!

These constant whiners’ blood pressure readings must be through the roof. They seem to be caught up in a never-ending loop of perpetual outrage which is instituted by schemers and takers like D’Souza. If I permitted anyone to manipulate my thinking/actions to the degree that they let their so-called party leaders manipulate theirs, I’d need to be committed to a mental health facility for treatment, but it doesn’t seem to bother them.

I wonder if they know that the stress is bad for their hearts.

Looks like the conservatives and their libertarian lapdogs are still artificially rigging the ratings on things, as their corporate overlords instructed them to in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGB8Uuffi4M

It seems Costco has bowed to the ranting and ravings of the right wing nut jobs and put this comic book back on it’s shelves. You can be sure that there will likely be no re-order for next month though as the right wing won’t be buying out the supply from Costco. They get theirs free from right wing web sites that bought in bulk for gifts to members.
